Bad experience. We finally got our blinds installed (2 months late). When we asked about getting some money back, they offered us a 2% discount. I first went to the Shade Store in Oak Brook after buying a new townhouse in Naperville. There were several windows (including a very high window) I wanted shades put on. The townhome was only 8 years old but needed some major upgrades. I met Meg Bohdan right when I entered the store and she walked me through numerous different options one-by-one. Having spent several thousand dollars on appliance upgrades, painting the entire place, etc --- I decided to do different windows at different times. Meg was there every step of the way working with me, making suggestions and constantly following up with how things were going. There once was a SNAFU and she quickly helped me work through it. I recently purchased a large shade from The Shade Store in Oak Brook, Illinois. Salesman Hassan Habib did an excellent job in explaining things to me, and discussing options that were available. He was very professional. Thereafter, a man came to my house to take measurements. The custom-built shade was then ordered, and subsequently shipped to my house. Two different men then scheduled a time to come to my house to install the shade. They did a great job. The reason why I choose "The Shade Store " to assist me with the replacement of my kitchen/living room window treatments was for the lifetime warranty. I will say that policy was put to the test! I absolutely fell in love with the woven wood Laguna Shell that is made with ary delicate grass and along with different window size limitations my sales associate, Carrie Havranek out of the Oakbrook store, was patient and professional during the whole process from design ideas to providing functional ideas. AFter installation of the shades and using the shades in daily life I had concerns that were addressed immediately, the, installer, warranty department and my sales associate Carrie all worked hard to make sure that my project was exactly what I wanted! I will also add that during the whole process Carrie, moved from the OakBrook Store to the Merchandise Mart store and she still quickly responded to my unending emails to assure that I was happy with the process since my project was turned over to the WArranty Department. Open the Door- Don't you think it's a hazard to lock customers inside? Then you have customers trying to walk-in and the door is locked? Really? No where on your website does it say APPOINTMENT ONLY. Then you open the door - were at capacity? Really? Come back? What's capacity it sure didn't appear like there was too many people in there? So, why wouldn't The Shade Store form a line outside instead of locking the doors? And locking from the bottom? Never have I seen that...Too much competition... read more

as a follow up, its now November 2nd. Techs just left and the shade has been remade the exact same way as the wrong version. Truly unbelievable. I'm returning all 4 shades in the kitchen. They obviously cannot make quality products. I guess measuring is a lost art at the factory where they produce these, because we've had 4 remakes and none of them were made to the measured size. read more
