Our son has a myriad of diagnoses, including autism, OCD, and anxiety. He is truly a wonderfully quirky kid, and one of the greatest gifts this school has given him is the opportunity to be surrounded by other quirky kids who accept him exactly as he is instead of trying to change him. For the first 12 years of his life, he attended public school in general education classes with some GT thrown in as well. He has an extremely high IQ, but the fast pace, constant transitions, and repetitive homework were overwhelming. He often became bored in class while simultaneously struggling to keep up with the demands of the environment. He masked his differences all day, then came home emotionally exhausted and overwhelmed. The result was increasing anxiety, worsening OCD, and a frustrating cycle that never seemed to end. At Focus Academy, we've watched that cycle break. He is genuinely happy. He is thriving academically because he's being challenged appropriately while also receiving the support he needs. Even more importantly, he has found people who understand and accept him for who he is. His confidence has grown, his anxiety has improved, and he is doing so much better socially. If you have a child who learns differently or simply needs an environment where they can be themselves, I can't recommend Focus Academy highly enough. Even if it's just one hour a day before the next lesson, it makes a difference. You are able to set flexible times to meet. Jeannie has been my tutor for three months now and I learned more about the Korean language then I did when I was trying to learn by myself. I see why it's called boot camp, I was drained at the end of each day. Patti provided several helpful study techniques and also showed us around the website and all its tools. I actually did not pick up my study material for over a month after camp. I started studying again about a week before the exam which I took in mid-January. While I don't recommend this approach (I'm a crammer!), it worked for me and I passed the PMP with flying colors. I would not have been able to grasp all the material on my own, at least not in the few weeks I put towards learning it. I'd actually say this boot camp over prepared me for the exam and I'm am gladly applying what I learned at work.

Playing ringing phones over and over in an echoey bathroom for a child with extreme noise sensitivity "to get over it" is child abuse and that is just one of the many things they did to our child. An audiologist later confirmed it was not a behavior issue but a medical one with auditory processing disorder. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. Run as far as you can from this place. The owners need some ABA themselves to get some insight into the way they treat people.
