We experienced repeated delays, unnecessary trips to the office, paperwork that had to be signed and re-signed because of errors or changes, and multiple instances where it felt like important details had been overlooked. We chose to give him the benefit of the doubt throughout the process, believing these issues were simply oversights. Most concerning, we were not informed of a critical filing deadline until after it had passed, despite specifically asking if there was anything else we needed to do. When I later raised these concerns, rather than acknowledging the communication failure or lack of attention to detail, the response immediately became defensive and included the insinuation that we were simply trying to "find a way around" our obligations. I found that especially disrespectful given that we had relied on his legal advice and guidance throughout our case. Everyone makes mistakes, but accountability matters. An honest apology and acknowledgment of what went wrong would have gone a long way. Instead of acknowledging the concerns we raised, he responded with a defensive email that included unwarranted insinuations about our character and motives. Rather than taking responsibility for the communication failures and lack of attention to detail, the blame was shifted back onto us. We expected clear guidance, attention to detail, accountability, and professionalism. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.

He does not value the rights of children with disabilities in any way and he clearly has a massive set of preconceived biases he should unpack in therapy, along with his assumptions that abused ADHD or Autistic children are liars. Stay far, far away from this attorney and this firm of your child has been abused or his/her disability rights have been violated at school. Disgusting, Boomer-esque, dismissive, victim-blaming attitude the likes of which I have never seen so egregiously on display from a lawyer who works with KIDS.

Even what should be the simplest of cases can have their own brand of hang ups and issues. Divorce is very straining, in many ways, for anyone dealing with it. What are our perceived timelines do not, in most cases, correlate with the laws' timelines. What should be so simple to us, isn't necessarily the case. So there are those moments of frustration, angst, and confusion that will definitely arise. And this is where John and his team shine. They understood my frustration. They knew where it was coming from. Instead of getting upset with me, they reassured me that everything was under control.
