I gave a 2 star because eventually we got passed the custody phase for my neice so they deserved the courtesy of at least that. I was told to wait 6 months after custody was final and then we'd file for adoption. At the 6 month mark, mind you I was very patient, I called, texted, emailed, and left voicemails for both John Izzo and Merideth Semler for months. I waited days and sometimes weeks between contact attempts. Spoke to their assistant many times and was assured I'd receive a call. After wasting months I gave up and found new counsel. Shame on me for allowing such unprofessional business practices for so long. A courtesy call, email, or SOMETHING would have been nice if they had become to busy for my case. I sure hope you don't treat all of your clients this way. As a business owner myself I can't imagine doing this to someone. Especially in a case as sensitive as adoption. This review is way overdue and definitely well deserved. Attorney John Izzo helped me out greatly a few years ago when I found myself in a bind through a rental car accident while on travel for work. To make a long story short, I got into a fender bender, our driver side headlights hit head on, the front left panel of my car was smashed. It was a minor accident, the car was driveable but was towed because the battery was damaged. My company found a loophole throughout this process, and because I opted to rent the car on my own (since I found a better rate than our travel department) they said I was 100% responsible for the damages. Gee - - thanks so much! At the time my insurance company said my policy did not cover all the damages, and that means I would have to pay out of pocket. As you know when it rains, it pours, so I then get a letter from the rental car company stating that they had "totaled the vehicle" and I owed them $27,000. Holy Moly. It didn't make sense because I had gotten an estimate on the damages from 2 body shops right after the accident, and they told me it should cost between $3,500 to $4,000 - and that the car should not have been totaled. Something smells very fishy here. Enter John Izzo. I believe I found him through the Yellow Pages, I got a free consultation and he assured me that we could resolve this w/ a favorable result, although I would still likely owe . He explained how these insurance companies work - - not so ethically and very unscrupulous - - and he wasn't surprised to see how they turned a $4,000 fender bender into a $27,000 bill. I gave him a retainer fee and let him work his magic. Over the next few weeks he engaged in a series of negotiations w/ the rental car company. In the end he was able to get them to agree to reduce their bill by 75%!! He said he could keep trying to get them down to rightful amount that should have been request, but my retainer had ran out and there's a chance they would back out, so we rationalized that it would be best to take their final offer. Now that's what I call damn good work, and a remarkable relief at that point in my life. I was still upset that the insurance company was unscrupulous, however, Mr. Izzo helped me realize that you pick your battles, it was just money, you'll re-earn it again and again, let's close this deal and get rid of them. Mr. Izzo also helped me later with a speeding ticket, I spoke to him on the phone for about 10 min and he explained how I could plead my case to the magistrate. His feedback and strategy worked. Needless to say I highly recommend John Izzo's services, he's been more than helpful and a life saver. read more

UTTERLY AMAZING. John Izzo and his team are nothing short of miracle workers. We had a complicated case requiring an emergency injunction for a child's safety, and every law firm we'd contacted was either giving us dates a week out (or more), or else turning down the case entirely because there was a possibility it could be transferred to a new jurisdiction once we began. But John cares deeply about the well-being of children in these tough situations. He and his staff literally ran around the office assembling paperwork, got the forms filed, and we were in front of a judge that same day--just five hours after we walked in! Some of the timing was luck, but there is absolutely no way it would have happened without the truly herculean efforts of John, Meredith, Dahlia and Dan. I have never seen anyone care that much about meeting a deadline that didn't personally affect them, and I am profoundly grateful. I too am surprised this guy has as many good reviews. I am dealing with an emotional complex sitution and he calls me for his consultation.. .he doesnt really listen to all the facts before he cuts you off to tell you what you need to do. Ummm, well sir you may want to hear the entire story before cutting them off and telling me what to do, then because they are emotional and stressed that you need to get a counselor but he is an attorney. No real concern or compassion is what I got from and a lot over talking you without hearing all the facts. I have ran into 3 attorneys like that this week actually however I have ran into so very sweet loving people in this business that do care and listen. I would pass on this guy. John Izzo was my sons attorney for his divorce. There was no property to be split, there was no custody dispute.there were issues on their end that created rescheduled court dates that my son got charged for.. He paid them 3000.00 up front and then the week before the actual court date my son was told he needed to pay 1000.00 more.. I personally spoke with John on phone and he assured me that even if they were in court all day it would not cost the EXTRA 1000.00 they were in court less than 2 hours..A week later my son received a bill for another 442.33. My x-daughter- in-law didn't even have an attorney. So a mutual non contested divorce cost 4442.33 I now know my son could of got the same on line for 99.00 The only reason this has a 1 star rating is because I had to read more

When They say they care, they Mean it!! I was going through a divorce that was suppose to be simple, when, last second, my husband tried to sue me out of spite.. Mr. Izzo himself responded immediately to my calls. My husband had an attorney from the beginning (comped by his work, the city) & had the nerve to sue me for all his lawyer & credit card bills. John Izzo swiftly silenced the harassment from that weasel & his lawyer, instead leaving 'em dumbfounded as they relinquished his pension & awarded him nothing. I am very surprised there are so many good reviews for this law firm. I have a personal injury/accident case STILL pending after almost 4 years of not a finger being lifted as far as I'm concerned. Had I not been fed a bunch of empty promises, I would have dumped this firm long before the statute of limitations was reached. I was told by Charles Miller, almost verbatim, that he put my case on the back burner because he had "bigger, more important cases to work on". And that was before he vanished without anyone letting me know. My case went on for about a year before I called to find out nobody was handling my case anymore. Finally, over 3 months ago, I was contacted by Mr. Stewart, who told me he should have the case wrapped up in a couple of weeks. Like I said, that was over 3 months ago, and still no update, even after multiple phone calls made by myself, only to have messages taken from me in vain.
