The ambience is elevated rustic farmhouse with lovely windows letting lots of natural light, a friendly cheerful staff and comfy nooks all around. We started our evening with a cocktail in the atrium which was cozy with overstuffed furniture for comfy seating. We ordered a Bellini and an old-fashioned and enjoyed every minute before we were moved to the main dining area. The dining area was lovely. The only negative was that we were seated by our window with a view of a dumpster and construction equipment. That was kind of a bummer since we were celebrating our anniversary, but otherwise the ambience is delightful. Before courses we received a delicious vegetable base soup and a bread basket with red onion focaccia, Brown Guinness, Cheese twist & Brown wheaten bread. They were all delicious, but we particularly loved the red onion focaccia. Dinner is a set three course menu so we ordered Starters: warm, crusted, brie with walnuts and baby beetroot, pear. Also ordered the scallop starter, which was a stuffed ravioli with a prawn bisque Mains: Seabass and the lamb. The Seabass was pan fried with red pepper, chive and lime and an Olive oil dressing. The lamb was a rack that was herb crusted with fondant potato, mint & pea jus. Desserts: tiramisu and warm rice pudding The highlights for us were the starters and probably the best tiramisu I've ever had ever! The mains were good, but just not as flavorful as the rest of the courses. Really loved the unexpected soup course and bread course. Definitely on the very pricey side so would only splurge for special occasions. Plenty of parking and handicap accessible with no steps.- at least I don't remember any.

My husband and I both got fish & chips which were great, and the kids got chicken nuggets and chips and pasta, great big portions and everything came very quickly (though we were having a pretty early dinner, around 5 pm). I was impressed that the pasta had a chunky homemade bolognese sauce on it. The beer menu seemed somewhat limited but that could also be due to Covid and how much they're able to supply at the moment. We sat in their outdoor seating area which is OK - they've definitely done their best to try and stay open and meet the restrictions! I think I will enjoy it better when the indoor dining reopens though as it's hard to make a tent attractive. This is a great little off-the-beaten-track place though and I do hope to be back soon.

Walking through the bar I was sure we were going to a seat at the back, away from the windows, but large double doors opened into a bright modern restaurant, with a wonderful view of the sea through windows that run the full length of the the dining area. The food was very nice, and the view and surroundings were pretty spectacular. The sun was shining, and two horses were cantering down the beach. We went for a stroll along the sea front after our meal. Very idyllic.

This is the kind of place that kind of typifies old world class, but still has a family, friendly atmosphere with the giggles of kids running through the trees. The breakfast is a buffet style, and there are different activities throughout the resort. The only one we checked out was the pool just due to our time constraints, and it was lovely, more on the pool below (note that a swim cap is required, they have them at the pool check-in desk to purchase). unfortunately, the outdoor hot tub was closed while we were there and speaking to other guests, it sounds like it's been closed for the past six months, but it's supposed to be up and running soon. Wheelchair accessibility: There are accessible parking spots, but not a ton, there were never any available when we were coming or going. There is an accessible entrance to the left of the main entrance that has a ramp, there are two sets of double doors that require some maneuvering to get through. Much of the resort is carpeted, but there are ramps everywhere. we stayed in an accessible room that was great and roomy, the only issue was the angle of the shower bench made it such that significant leg strength is required to be able to actually sit on the shower bench. Accessibility at the pool: the staff were super helpful and accommodating. There is a ramp to get down to the pool deck, and then stairs with a handrail to get down into the pool. I didn't see a pool lift on site. It also looked like there were stairs to come into the pool from the locker room and so I'm not sure if there would be an accessible entrance into the locker room, I didn't use the locker room since we had a room. The indoor hot tub was up some steps with a handrail as well, and there didn't seem to be a step free path to get over to the indoor hot tub area.

And events at the hotel can be loud when you're looking for some peace and quiet in Dundalk. Breakfast was included with our room but it wasn't very impressive - some fried eggs gone cold on a buffet, limited healthy choices otherwise. Unfortunately, I had some bad luck when it came to my stay. When my plug adapter went missing, the hotel provided one. However, it didn't work. By the time I figured that out, it was too late at night to roll down to reception for another one so I just made do. A wedding at the event space meant that drunk partygoers were roaming the hotel grounds, singing and yelling, until the wee hours of the morning. Although I had booked a non-smoking room, and although I was thrilled that the window and balcony door could be opened to let in fresh air, my neighbor decided to smoke on his balcony (continuously) until 3 am. In a desperate attempt for sleep, I called the front desk. Once, the call rang without answer. And on the second try, they hung up on me. Great service and help, guys. I probably wouldn't stay here again.

After a few hours relaxing, we went back to the bar and sat out on their lovely patio and enjoyed a few drinks. The afternoon ran into the evening and we made our way to the hotel's restaurant for a 3 course meal, included with our stay. The minute I laid eyes on the menu, I was in heaven. Too many choices and all good choices. I opted for the mushroom risotto, sea bass and lemon tart for dessert. Everything was so perfect from the vibe and ambiance of the restaurant to the service and most of all, THE FOOD. Everyone at the table got something different and there was not a complaint in the house. We left with full bellies and a bottle of wine. After dinner we strolled back into the bar where they had a live band. Our stay was perfect and relaxing which was exactly what we were looking for. The service was spot on, the food was even better and the location was great. Only an hour and a half from Dublin and about 2 km outside of Cavan city centre, you could not ask for a better hotel or a better location. I will certainly be back for another girls weekend!

I ate the potato mash and cabbage; the portion of each was mean. It's old folks home standard on an alright day that we queued for. I got some Cajun pepper sauce from another Bain Marie container (the gravy looked unappealing) and it's obviously not made from fresh in house - factory made maybe even a packet mix requiring no skill or food knowledge only water. The English mustard too is poor quality it's oil based, cheap and in a tube where it stayed. Just nasty rubbish served intentionally. The cappuccino is grim and for this there's no excuse either. Management may rebut my opinion and the opinion of my wife and our host but this has been our experience time and again over many years. It's been a long time since we last dined here.
