This is a bit of a misnomer, because although they have some pipes and tobacco, I didn't see any…read morebeer. This seems to me primarily a cigar store, and it's a good one. The humidor is well stocked with many lines from a few brands, rather than stocking a few lines from a bunch of brands. I like this approach. They have an extensive selection of Fuentes and Padrons, and feature Drew Estate in a smaller humidor in the main room. If I had more time I would have enjoyed having them walk me through some of the brands I did not recognize. I was also impressed by the low pressure sales strategy. I went in looking for a butane insert for my Zippo lighter and the guy (regret not getting his name) said they didn't carry them because they could not compete with Amazon pricing. He then walked me through their selection of butane lighters, from $8 disposables up to $100 Xicars (we didn't look at the Duponts b/c not in my price range). I ended up buying a $60 Xicar and can of butane and left very happy. It's not the biggest store, but what they carry is smartly curated. There are seats and ashtrays on the front porch of the house for smoking, and I think you can also smoke inside as I spied a lounge in the back. I n addition to the name, the location is a bit unusual, across the street from a park in a residential neighborhood a couple of blocks off of Stratford Road. So, it is not at all hard to get to, but it's no place you would just drive by and stop at on the spur of the moment.

I particularly love Southerlands because it's conveniently located close to Stock and Grain Food Hall in High Point. It's literally a 2 min drive. Even though I don't always smoke a cigar, I appreciate that when you walk inside, you don't instantly smell it so strongly. I've been to other cigar lounges and the cigar smoke can be a lot. Y'all know I absolutely love a good cocktail. The bartenders are wonderful and the drink selections are plenty. Even if you don't see something on the menu you would like, they can make you anything. I appreciate how accommodating they are as well. Whether I come during the week (they started $5 drink specials on Wednesdays) I can pull up and have a drink and bring my laptop or come on a Friday for Ladies Night and have a DJ spin and I'm on the dance floor. Whatever you are feeling, they have it. You also never know who you're going to meet. I think it's also a great place for networking. They do have options if you'd like to do a private event or celebrate something special. There is plenty of space and a very large parking lot. We expressed our grievance in having to wait on hot fries when they should have come out hot to begin with and was told that they brought us the fries and that was all they were required to do.
