One love Thursdays are a real nice respite after a busy week. I had the refreshing Rasta Cooler mocktail & legalize it burger with candied bacon. Brittany, who cooks does an amazing job and everything is cooked to order. Between the ambience, the food and the refreshing drink It is really one of the highlights Of my week. Went to One Love Thursdays which broke up a long tenuous week at work. Even talked my co-workers into it. I had never been in the back patio before so I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the ambiance and music and the food was pretty good. My co-workers had the jerk chicken and I had the jerk seasoned burger. My burger was excellent. I also had a mocktail. The other patrons were really friendly and so are the owner and staff. Definitely looking forward to going back. Unfortunately, forgot to take photos because I was STARVING. What a fabulous place! Reminded me of bars in North Park. The bar is in a cute little house which it turns out was a Sear's house from quite a ways back. The staff is super friendly!! Our girl Jennifer took care of us every time we visited and she was fabulous. But again, everyone was great. They had live music on Saturday night and the musician (John - forgot last name) had a wonderful voice and was a true entertainer. We would absolutely want to see him again. If you want a good drink, friendly service with an overall chill vibe, you have to stop in. They do not have food (except some bar snacks) but you can order in/bring your own food and that is what we did. Don't miss out on this treasure if you are in the area. read more

This is one of the happiest gut calls I've made in a long time! My friend was in town in CLT and wanted to meet halfway between CLT and Winston. What's halfway Salisbury, and what's in Salisbury... Shug's!! This place was great! It has a local bar feel with an inviting ambiance and very friendly staff! The burger and drinks I had there were delicious all around and I would definitely come back for the cocktails they had! Personally I think the Buffalo Chicken Egg roll was a pass for me. It was dry in the middle and seemed to lack flavor, but the buffalo it came with was quite good. Also in the back there was a cigar lounge available. this is what happens when an amendment-era cocktail lounge relocates to a random part of town in the transitional south. prominent "Adults Only" signage suggests something tawdry is in the works but it's actually much simpler than that, it just means no ifs, ands, or children. more to the point though: the music is just a little too loud and late century, but actually separated stereophonically... the lights are soft but not so low that reading the menus or the room is difficult... the barkeep is good natured and gracious and she pours an honest pint: the FlaMango cider is literally sweet water in the finest tradition except not pink... fancy foods on the menu plus hotdogs and art on the walls in unknowing homage to The Last Call in 1980's Roselle but without the blue lighting or the basement bar, alas... it took just a minute to settle in but we're good with Ellis on this side of the bar discussing hot meals and cool climates while in the midst of something else entirely. seating options vary from firm bar stools to quiet cushioned couches besides plenty of outside-furniture outside with some restrictions on drink that I don't quite understand and umbrellas that I do. rounding up because there's no reason not to and I am assured that some different art will adorn the walls in due time, to quote the barkeep "it's not usually this naked here, it's just this month's featured artist..." read more

Bar which is the heart of the business in an old house. Tables to eat food on limited food menu with quality items. Philly Cheese Stake egg rolls hit a home run. The sweet pepper in it made the egg roll stand out, as super tasty. Not much cheese in it but that ratio works to it's favor / flavor. Place to listen to live music or whatever they broadcast. Juke box in the form of a wooden barrel, unique. Nice cliental and staff. Very accommodating. Owner explained the rotating offerings, passionately. to play in addition to ring catch challenge games at several tables. Place to come and enjoy some downtime and socializing. Philly Cheese Steak was very flavorful -- Ramp on backside for handicap accessibility. -- People started filling the place around 5:30pm plus so plenty of others must think highly of the establishment too read more

My husband and I have only been once, but we would definitely go again. I will preface with, do not go hungry! It took a super long time to get our food. However, the vibe was so chill, and unlike anything in Salisbury, it made the wait not bad. As far as food, the Reuben egg rolls were some of the yummiest I have ever had. I also tried the mac and cheese and it was SO GOOD. My husband isn't a huge m&c guy, and even he loved it. We look forward to visiting again! read more

Pronounced like the abbreviation for "sugar," Shug's is an adorable downtown home renovated into a beautiful speakeasy style bar. The seating is great for the size of the place, but come early if you want to sit by the stage. There was a reasonable cover charge for the live music. The food was AMAZING. We enjoyed Italian egg rolls and deconstructed deviled eggs. The drinks were also affordable and high quality, and there was a lot of selection, from local to regional to national. went here last night with old friends after eating next door. ordered a drink and a coffee. when I ordered the coffee, she made a big deal and said "I have to make a new pot I guess".hoping i would change my order, I kind of shrugged my shoulders and let the uncomfortable silence pass as the coffee was for an old friend. Paid for my drink (tipped 10 bucks) and went sat down after about after about 40 minutes of waiting for the coffee, she finally starts the coffee for another drink order since the coffee maker was right there behind us where we were sitting I went, poured the coffee in the cup, which was sitting out and then sat back down the Bartender, then came pull the coffee pot off the coffee maker while it is pouring and spilling coffee all over the floor, and then blamed me (so loudly the bar is staring at me) . she was standing there with the pot talking. when she realized the coffee had spilled on the floor, she had the audacity to blame me, even though she was still holding the coffee pot in her hand, and it was still spilling on the floor. i avoided spilling because when I poured the coffee I made sure not to pour any on the floor, turning red switch ioff and on real quick to avoid that situation, but she went out of her way to spill the coffee and then blame it on me and kept getting loud about it to where embarrassing me and my friends that I haven't seen over a year. If this Bartender is so miserable, I suggest finding another job because no one deserves to be treated that way, especially when it was her fault.. I walked out of here. I don't think I'm ever gonna walk back, especially if this person is working..rude , unnecessary, unprofessional, and extremely childish behavior. Sorry I didn't wanna wait an hour for my friends coffee. I would suggest this place to either hire enough staff so this person isn't front facing with customers or have a real sit down with this person. i suggest Sargent peppers (walking distance) or honestly any other place (fishbowl) if you want a bigger bar. owner apparently takes no accountability. Stopped in for a couple drinks with two friends of mine. Place has a really relaxed atmosphere with live music as it's main attraction on weekends. Wow, I was EXTREMELY disappointed this afternoon. I really wanted to love this place. I was so excited to bring my father-in-law to this place! The location is close to all of my local favorites and the interior is really unique and inviting. The beer and spirit selection is adequate and diversified. The problem we encountered was the unexpected rudeness of one of the staff. We assumed that she was maybe one of the owners? The bar was empty and we were sat at the bar, attempting to make polite small talk about who would be performing at the venue this evening. She could NOT care less about anything her paying customers had to say. She didn't even appear like she cared for who was to be preforming later. She completely aborted the conversation and didn't even make eye contact with us. Her main concern was that the new cigarettes she had just purchased for the night were on display so that no one would leave to go anywhere else for them! She continuously interrupted us when we spoke and was disingenuous at best. We were not at all in a hurry and would have stayed for more drinks. We wanted to bring our families and friends there later. We instead were belittled, made to feel unwanted, and treated like a nuisance. Shame on you. I hope you realize that is no way to treat people. read more
