I want to start off with the positive on this one. The space is really great and it looks so much better than it did before. I love the little fire pit area and just the atmosphere some soft jazz. I will also add that the service was very friendly. Now some of you might know, The Smoky Note is a refresh of what used to be Monte Vista. I never really went back then but when I did, it was interesting for sure. I would like to specify that I went twice because sometimes when a business first opens, there can be some kinks to work out. My most recent visit showed a lot of that had not really improved. Their menu prices are quite high for cocktails, some being $18 and even the prices are on the high side. This last time I tried the hello Dolly, which I assume is supposed to be like a lemon drop. The pour was very light, barely filling half of the small glass and the taste just wasn't something I would order again. The last time I tried two other drinks and neither of those tasted right either. I really like the space but for those prices the drinks should be much better.

Right in the heart of Nob Hill. Located in an old firehouse. Although there are high ceilings, it still feels cozy and intimate. Great outdoor patio. On Wednesday nights there is a jazz band. Maybe other nights too? Cocktails . . . excellent . . . some drinks on the menu add to the ambiance that you just stepped into a 1930s or '40s jazz club. A little expensive. I had two cocktails and, with tip, my bill was $33. Note: the one photo (amaretto sour) had an ice cube 1" square - so the actual drink in the glass was minimal. It was very good . . . there just wasn't enough of it for the price. I would have felt better paying a cover charge and less for my drinks. Yet, even with over the top expensive drinks, I still highly recommend The Smoky Note. Feels like an adult kind of place. Great music addition to Nob Hill.

Bad service, bad drinks, cute spot. We sat down and had to ask the server for water and snacks (which every table had but ours) after being there for at least 25 minutes. I ordered the smoky note signature cocktail which is supposed to be the best old fashioned and it was probably the worst. I've been a bartender and it's not easy to mess up an old fashioned because there's only three ingredients lol The presentation was beautiful but the drink itself was not well balanced at all and didn't taste like anything. It was also $20 like do we think this is NYC or something? Not worth it won't be back.

So far so good. It's our first time checking this place out since it's become the Smoky Note, and I'm really loving the new decor. And the 3 drinks we've tried ( Untitled, Aztec Manhattan & the Smoky Note Margarita) are easy to drink and lovely. They have complimentary little snack treys that are a fun addition, no other food though. It's a great date spot, and I'm seeing folks just hanging out at the bar too. I'll come back to try the other drinks on the extensive menu.

I drive up Lomas past the Garden Center all the time but I only recently read the sign and decided to look up what it was. Behind all the trees, there is a little Albuquerque gem. I looked up their website and read all about a plant sale they had going on. I got two cute little plants and was excited to see the space. The actual gardens were closed when I went but I want to go back to check them out. I would also definitely go back for another plant sale, the prices were great and they had some fun stuff to choose from. One note, the parking is terrible when they are super busy. I doubt that they are super busy too often, probably only for events and such but when it is, getting in and out is a huge pain.

There are some rules like no bubbles or confetti, but they are all outlined in contract. We had employees there to supervise and help out. Because it was early April and the gardens don't open till mid April we couldn't have the ceremony in the gardens. It turned out to be less expensive. But when it came time for taking pictures, the staff let us and some of our guests take photos in the garden. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. They made for a beautiful backdrop for our photos. Although it was not open on the weekends, there is a garden shop that sells fun garden themed items. There is a small courtyard in the front which also makes for good pictures. What's interesting is that the building itself doesn't look that special as I would drive past it every day and wouldn't have known about it if wasn't for the sign. It's a great hidden gem in the middle of Albuquerque and was a very nice venue to have a wedding.

Don't assume just because it makes perfect sense to you, that the other 99% of us dense folks will know exactly what you meant. And, no, this business has absolutely nothing to do with fowl of any kind that I can discern. It is actually a great Co-Working Space. I stopped in to Free Range for an event that was happening there. While I was there, I asked to have a tour of the space. They were surprised, but very accommodating. I was surprised at how large a space it is and how many different options to work, collaborate and hold meetings of different sizes are available. Private office spaces. Conference rooms and large meeting rooms. Bright and airy spaces. Not cramped / swished together spaces that I have seen in some co-working spaces. If you are looking for an every-now-and-then space, or a more permanent "office" space, check out Free Range. Ask for a tour. They have plenty of parking . . . .and even a 2nd location in Nob Hill, if this location just west of the University doesn't work for you. Why did I only give them four stars? Well, because I haven't actually worked there . . .yet. But, when and if I need a co-working space, this will definitely be my go-to option.

It has a very unique decor up front, with a river rock wall and two River Rock booths. I'm not sure how comfortable they are, but they sure look cool. There's a round bar up front and high top tables in the bar area. Walk a little further back into the dining room where there are standard tables. It also looks like there's another dining room toward the back but I didn't check that out. There's also patio seating in a big courtyard. It is a really lovely patio. Our server started us off with a sample of one of the red wines that comes from their winery. I don't usually like red wine very much, but I did love this wine and ordered a glass. They have a full bar and the other people in my party ordered cocktails. The server brought out some bread and butter to start is off. The menu has a little bit of everything for everyone - - there was some pasta, pot roast, fish, and even a burger. We ordered: *Rainbow trout with mango salsa, jasmine rice, and asparagus. Two of us ordered the trout, but I substituted my jasmine rice with mashed potatoes. *Country pot roast with mashed potatoes and brown gravy *Schnitzel with mashed potatoes and broccolini *Southwest meatloaf with mashed potatoes and The manager came to our table to see if everything was okay. I really appreciate when a manager does that. We had a really nice meal and a nice place and the price was very reasonable. I would absolutely recommend this place.
