I'm not an antique store type of guy, but I've been to a ton of them because my wife loves them. This place was very cool. Huge variety of merchandise for sale, and the prices were very good. Sitting areas for the guys, and plenty for those actually shopping to purchase. My wife knows how to shop, she's not cheap when it comes to purchasing, but she also doesn't like to be ripped off. Good name for exactly what they were. Wasn't greeted. No one left counter. Unpleasant atmosphere. Bougie and expensive for second hand. Lots of loft and Anne Taylor etc. Not my cup of tea. My experience with the customer service was poor. I called to see if an item on the website was still available. The individual gave me a generic response without asking about which specific item or checking. She basically blew me off. The picture on the website should've been reflective of the item being sold; however, the picture was deceptive and blown up to appear to be full sized when in actuality, it was a minature. Finally, in browsing the other items available to purchase, they were a bit on the high end. read more

I often buy things here - furniture, shoes, purses - but even when I don't I spend a happy hour there, looking around, enjoying a chat with employees and other shoppers. Great location, good prices, nice space. Forget about the state of the world. Avoid big box stores. Keep things from landfills. Can't go wrong. read more

I loved Snob until my interaction today. Snob was my first place to check for clothing, purses, shoes and decor. I love the treasures I occasionally find and generally love perusing the store!! But my interaction with Diana today was so so so awful I was looking at 2 pairs of loafers and the black pair had an odd rainbow shine. I went to the counter to ask to take them outside to see them in natural lighting, outside of the LED lighting. Since the policy is no returns, I would really not like to accidentally buy a pair of black loafers just to get home and realize they were rainbow iridescent. So, I asked permission see them in natural lighting before buying. Two employees were at the counter. One, Diana, interjects and very rudely and condescendingly says "you can't take merchandise outside of the store....." I said "ok, I am asking because I'm hoping you may be able to escort me just to see if this pair of shoes may have a rainbow sheen to it. Can you please escort me outside then?" She even more condescendingly says "no....?". I stood there for a few more seconds really shocked and trying to get a grip over the interaction I was having. She then tells the other girl "you'll have to ask Cynthia" and gave an eye roll. Ultimately I was able to take the shoes outside to see them in natural lighting, but it was such an awkward, demeaning and unpleasant interaction I wanted to put back everything I planned on buying to leave and never return I used to love shopping at Snob but this just way too unpleasant and weird. My friends and I love shopping here! We always find great deals and the clothes are in excellent condition. My friend even found an Anthropologie sweater recently that was new with tags! There's a rack with clothes that are 80%+ off from which another friend found a couple of tops that were $2-$3! Once I came here and spent $80 on 10 items. Amazing. Parking in the lot next to the shop is easy. There are big changing rooms and the staff is friendly. I frequently travel to Winston Salem and The Snob Shop is always one of my destinations . Their selection of gently used designer labels in excellent and I have purchased some top of the line dining room items . I want to love this place but they are closed on Sundays. This is half the time people have available to shop; I wish they'd open and do double the business. They also are pricey. Once I bought some pottery and when I came home, found the original store price tag at a LOWER price than what Snob sold it for. read more

Fine if you're buying, rude if you're selling. It's okay if my pieces are out of season, I'm not upset about that, that makes sense. But when they brought my clothes back, I pointed out that the last three had some stains, and I would happily get it dry cleaned if they would take them, but just wasn't going to go through the effort if they were going to get rejected anyway. I said these three are stained, the rest are in great condition! They came back and said a lot of them were out of season (again, not mad about that) and that too many were stained. I was really confused about this because I told them to look past the stains on the last three of the 29 pieces?? When I explained this to the lady that brought my clothes out she said "well they're just too far gone" in the most dismissive and condescending tone. They're not too far gone, a simple dry cleaning would've gotten the minor stains out. And it was 3 that were stained. Do not tell me they were all stained. I truly believe they started looking at my pieces from the back and came across the three stained ones first and didn't even look at the rest and made a judgement. I took so much time cleaning out my closet, driving everything there, lugging it out of my car, for them to spend less than 5 minutes looking at my items. No way did they look at all of my clothes in less than 5 minutes. Then when I asked "I brought 29 pieces in, how many need to get approved to get an account started?" I was told it's not a piece amount minimum to get started. So then I asked what the dollar amount needed to get started was, she still couldn't give me a straight answer. Then I called and said I have several sets of fine China, could those go towards my account? I started by listing my Noritake Edgemont, 6 full sets minus 2 tea cups. She interrupted me and "no, that's 4 full sets plus extra plates and serve ware." At this point I was just so done with their dismissive and condescending tones, I didn't go on to explain I also had full sets of Lennox Solitaire (8 full place settings), Lennox Charleston (12 full place settings plus serve ware), Johann Haviland Bavaria (12 full settings plus serve ware), that I was willing to part with to start my account. So I hope a manager or owner reads this and learns from their mistakes: 1. Attitude is key. You can be firm in your decision to not accept my pieces, I wasn't even upset that you said my clothes were out of season, I knew that. But you could've taken my pieces more seriously when it came to the stains. 2. Make your policy on minimum to start your account very clear to customers and especially your staff. 3. Watch the tones your staff uses to customers. They need to be grateful people are bringing in pieces to their consignment store so they can have a job, not condescending and dismissive. Good luck, because I'm never coming back, to buy or sell! read more

I always hit this shop when I am in Winston. And, I do believe I have always found a treasure while there! From a black wool Ann Taylor skirt, to a window treatment for a nursery, one never knows what they might find here! I love perusing this store. There is nothing all that unique about this shop-- full of used stuff, and it is not to be confused with an antique store, which it is not, but if you go in with an open mind and have no expectation or nothing in particular to find, you might just find the perfect thing you forgot you needed or something you did not need until you realized how good the price is! Everything is carefully inspected so sometimes items are not taken for any number of reasons, but as a customer, I can say I really appreciate the attention to detail. There is a reason it is called the Snob shop. I have shopped in this store several times over the years. When the time came that I wanted to sell some items on consignment from a late family member, I thought this would be a great experience. WRONG. As long as I was always just shopping, I never had to deal with the staff much. They were always efficient and transactional, but never provided the same warm bubbly service to me that they seem to afford only to their friends or regulars. When I showed up with my 25+ items as outlined in the rules, I was greeted by, short, curt staff fresh out of "how to condescendingly welcome your customers" training. The lady at the front counter, who appeared to be carrying on a personal conversation with one of her regulars, was more concerned with continuing her conversation than offering any kind of assistance, direction or customary service for a new consignee. I was quickly advised that the SNOB Shop ONLY take 20 items (even though their own brochure states between 20 and 25 items). When I said I thought you would pick from what I brought in and I would leave 20-25 items. I was quickly corrected by one of the staff members who stated, "I never would have said anything like that." So, through some back and forth, I left exactly 20 items. I think the treatment I received was mostly because I was a man and not from 27104. I departed, and got a call later that day (too late for me to pick up the items that could not be marked in). Of the 20 items I had schlepped into the store with, they could only take three. They wanted to bring in more items to see if they could set up the account. I would have felt better about the experience if they could have provided a hint of guidance as I was dropping my items off and had been nice. However, coupled with the condescending tone upon my arrival, correcting me on what I thought I recalled the "rules" to be, and the overall experience, I opted to pick up all of my items the following Saturday. I was never one of the top shoppers at SNOB Shop, but after this experience, it will not be a shopper at this store again. Honestly, I don't think they will miss me, but I will share my experience with others. read more

There were lots of stylish dresses - seems like they do a good job of filtering what they decide to consign. Basically - tons of clean consignment clothes at fair prices - art work and jewelry too. I visit the snob shop any time I'm driving by and have some time. It's very conveniently located near downtown and in between an intersection and a split road that could easily take you in any direction you want to go. The snob shop is a basic consignment shop with a mix of higher end items. I've scored some really nice cowgirl boots and really real designer purses for my mom and cousin. It is on the pricier side of a consignment shop, but they do have highly inspected and up to date items. Everything is organized well by size and color. They have home goods, jewelry, clothing, shoes and some local handmade art as well. I'm sure they have much more to browse than what I've mentioned. There are some other consignment shops around the corner as well as a few bars, a gelato shop and a restaurant or two. Make an afternoon of it! Hi, ladies, You were very kind and helpful to me when I came in on the 11th or 12th (I think) of May. I purchased a crystal lamp from the 1950s that I really like. I was chatting with a nice lady at the counter, and I wonder if I happened to leave my Ray Ban sun glasses on the counter. I had signed up to sell clothes at Snot because they happened to be convenient. But every time I go to bring items, there is a new "rule". Not only that but I overheard the staff talking about how they take any high end items and sell them on eBay. This makes me trust them less. How much of a cut are they taking to recoup eBay fees?
