Great consignment shop for higher end items! I haven't bought many of my favorite items from here. The dress selection is feel is very good and tons of jeans and shoes! This place is interesting. Went there with my wife and kid today so they could look for UGG boots. Prices are all over the place. Some of the prices are fairly high for the brands that they are. There are deals to be had here. They are fully staffed with 5 to 7 people. Neatly organized rows of stuff. A little bit of dude stuff. I would say the prices for guys is twice as high as it needs to be to get us to buy something there. Most of the shop is women's stuff and probably requires that you really look around. Took my wife here and this is the best setup and selection even for men and that's extremely hard to come across. The staff is so nice and friendly, the way they do everything is something every place needs to take note of when it comes to how a business should be ran and customer service should be. My daughter and I used to be able to find a lot of clothes at this store, but the selection has really changed. It's like they are trying to cater to the Forever 21 crowd, but I guess not since even my daughter can't find anything there. Neither of us has been able to find anything nice the last several times we visited. Part of the problem is what they are buying. Their men's selection leaves something to be desired also. Also, I don't mind that they pay very little for clothing you sell there, but I do mind that they return everything in a huge mess. They also pass on brand new or hardly used current styles. I guess that's why I can't find anything to buy there anymore. I've learned my lesson. I will not return to this store. I now buy and sell on Thred Up and Poshmark. I've had much more success buying and selling on those sites, and I can do it from home. read more

Sleazy business practices. It's not consignment. If you do plan to sell ask for an itemized list and what they are giving you versus what they will resell items for. Do Not Accept Offers below 40% Fair Market Value. If they offer you less go to a reputable business that offers more $$. These Business need Inventory to stay in Business if you say no and the supply drops they will have to offer you more $$. Just to sum it up don't get screwed over. read more

If you need to get rid of your clothes and want to make some cash it's a decent option to go here. Personally decided to come here instead of Plato's closet to see if I would get more for my clothes. Unfortunately I think Plato's is better to sell. They took 2 items just for $7. I personally think shopping here would be great as there as lots of designer options and more young adult/adult clothing here with nicer name brands! Very clean and organized here. read more

I have shopped at Style Encore since they opened their doors. It's all women's clothing and they accurate a selection for a variety of body shapes and sizes. The store is laid out by garment type (dresses, tops, bottoms, jeans, athletic, etc.) and within those sections it is grouped by size then divided by color. So I can go in looking for a modest black dress for a funeral or a colorful cotton frock for the lake and find what I'm looking for pretty quickly. I get giddy just walking in the door. I am often on the hunt for specific things, usually Lilly Pulitzer items which are easy to spot because of their "all the colors on the same item" theme and the bold patterns, and when I find things that are my size and fit well, I'm thrilled to get them at fraction of what their brand new retail price is. I also love their athletic section and the handbags. I often go while the kids are in school and browse EVERYTHING in my size and take an armful to the dressing room to try on. The Style Encore staff has always been helpful and friendly and I love the owner, who I believe splits her time between this location and the one in Greensboro. If you're short on time you can call ahead and make an appointment with a stylist who will pull outfits for you in the categories you're searching for and you just go in for a try-on fashion show. I will say, I don't consign there, but I have a general handle on how it works. You take clothes in, they sort and assess and give you a cash offer on the spot, which you can accept or leave. I try not to go frequently because I almost always walk out with a bag of new to me clothes! I really like the gals that work there and I really love giving clothing a second life for a great price. I can't count the number of times I have been in there and been completely ignored...I don't know why I go back! I keep thinking they have to get better, but they DON'T!!! On Monday went in and twice I had to get out of 2 different sales girls, no excuse me, no hi, no nothing! Train your staff to speak! And you have a kid looking at my clothes if/when I bring them in to sell...really? I took brand new size 6 Ralph Lauren black pumps in and the chick wanted to give me 2 bucks for them. They only have one mindset on designers. It's a shame how they talk to you when you are giving them your items to sell. You want them nice, neatly folded and freshly washed....you staff balls them up and throws them back in the container to give them back! I was very pleasantly surprised by Style Encore. I just moved to the area and used to shop at a consignment store that I was sad to leave behind, but I'm so happy to have found another one with such a great selection of women's clothing! Prices are reasonable and most of the items are in very good condition. They also seem to have clearance items frequently, so you're likely to score a deal as well. The store has great finds but the customer service sucks. I have been to visit the store 3 times within the last 30 days and yet to be acknowledged when walking in or while I'm shopping. The first time I was in the store an hour and not once did anyone say hello or offer any assistance. However, the store associate made sure to place items in areas near where I was shopping (hint) but did not acknowledge my presence. I have shopped here since the stores' humble start and actually enjoyed it but now its not friendly. Plus, the staff needs to watch their conversations, I've heard words that should not be spoken out loud while customers are shopping. They need to get some professional training in diversity, equity and inclusion regarding the "how to". read more

After perusing the store, I didn't find anything to purchase. I am giving them an A-OK because the store is stocked full of clothing, shoes, and accessories including scarves, purses, jewelry, sunglasses, and more! Some of the fashions are decades out of date but for those who like that period look, those myriad items are definitely in stock. Otherwise, they have shirts, blouses, dresses, pants, and sweaters. The winter items filled the store. There were many shoppers with items in their baskets and I was happy for them. I received an email on Friday, August 22, 2015 from Style Encore stating they were buying sweaters. So on yesterday, Monday, August 25, 2015 I dropped a large storage bin of new and VERY gently used clothing, primarily sweaters and two pair of Nine West shoes that were worn one time each. I was not able to return until they opened this morning, August 26th to discuss what they were "willing" to purchase from me (as the sales lady put). To say I was shocked is putting very, very light. While I am aware that they items they select vary by location, they literally only selected the items that had tags on them and told me that my shoes were scuffed up. The black pair of Nine West pump were worn less than 3 hours....they are in immaculate condition, in fact, I could take them back to the store if it were within the return window. I was so appalled because the clothing, shoes, and accessories at that particular location is barely above what you can purchase at a Goodwill store location. I am issuing a complaint this time because when I sold some designer bags there previously a similar situation occurred. I treat my clothing and shoes as people will treat their children and pets because I love to shop. Needless to say, I have a full card of stamps and started a new card today but I will never patronize Style Encore again. read more

I'm surprised this place has such a low score. I frequently stop buy to sell my stuff and check out their selection. Their payout for clothes is a little low but I don't mind because I do like the store. As for buying clothes, their selection in particular usually does right by me - I've found several dresses with pockets (the gold standard of dresses) and a few party frocks too. No shoes... yet. Their staff is friendly if usually busy and sometimes I have to wait to have my clothes looked over, but that's to be expected since they allow walk-ins. Always recommend this place to women looking for affordable dress clothes in particular! read more

Unpleasant experience. Although most of the ladies working their had great customer service the woman who I presume to be the manager does not. She did not greet us or help me check in my belongings even though she was just standing their folding clothes. The least she could have done is greet us in some sort of polite manner - however I know I'm a stickler for good customer service. They did not choose to take any of my belongings which I know happens all the time but I had plenty of trendy, on brand pieces in good condition. Some items still had the tags on them and were brand new. So I was puzzled as to why they didn't take a single thing. I also only wanted to try on one thing while I was waiting even though I looked over the entire store twice.. so maybe they need to adjust how they decide what to take in? The same person also didn't help me checkout when my name was on the board when all she had to do was say we didn't buy anything and send me on my way, instead I stood there for 5 minutes waiting because she didn't seem to be bothered to help. I purchased two dresses online (I live in California). They arrived promptly in adequate packaging. The store tags were well placed in the seam so as not to damage the items. Both dresses were in great shape without damage; one I could easily mistake for new. They had a great selection. I'll be keeping an eye on their inventory! read more

Unpleasant experience. Was not greeted at the door. It smelt strongly of cheap air freshener, it literally smacks you in the face when you walk in. There were dust balls EVERYWHERE. I understand is primarily used clothing but the sanitation is concerning. They have girls who don't even look like their old enough to work behind the counter. Why are 13 year olds buying WOMENS clothing? Everything is jammed into the racks, I couldn't flip through the racks even if I wanted to. There were multiple people behind the counter who carried on there own conversations even when I went to go check out. I stood there for 3 minutes with no acknowledgment while some spikey haired woman aggressively flipped through people's clothing and the little girls continued with their conversation. Frustrated, I put the ONE thing I wanted back. Talk about bad customer service? Needless to say, I won't return! read more

Told they are looking for certain clothing - only to be told that mine were not current, worn, etc. For the record, clothes that are not current, worn, etc. I throw away. As a buyer, I'm consistently impressed with this store. It is neat and clean, offers a great selection of nice goods, and maintains reasonable prices. The staff is friendly and courteous. They also offer a 7-day return policy, and I've never had any issues making a return if something I purchased by phone didn't fit. It focuses on women's clothes, rather than kids or teen styles. Wow this place is such a hidden gem! I went today and they have lots of designer clothes in excellent condition. I bought two pairs of shorts, one LOFT and one Anne Taylor and they were each $12. They also have a lot of Lilly Pulitzer, LOFT, J. Crew, Express, the Limited, and more. I would say they cater to 20-40 year old women but it's a good mix of contemporary and sophisticated clothing. Everything is arranged by size and the store overall was very clean and organized. I would definitely recommend this consignment shop to all women in the Winston area! I left the store feeling insulted in two ways. I brought in a lot of clothes to sell from Gap, Limited, Express, Old Navy and Banana Republic. The store wanted several of these items and offered very little cash which was hard to swallow because the clothes were expensive name brands. The clerk who helped me was condescending as she insinuated several times that I was either a teenager or all my clothes were teen. Since when were The Limited, Gap and Banana teen brands? I am in my thirties and I don't appreciate being told to "Go to Plato's Closet." She judged me based on my looks which was unprofessional and unfair. read more

Very disappointed with my experience. I was told it would be about 35 minutes and it took closer to 50 minutes...hard to imagine it should take that long considering the ladies behind the counter were chatting (not about work) the entire time. This also made me question how closely they were even examining my clothes. When I first arrived one of the ladies was going over what they were willing to pay out with a customer and the person did not accept the offer. Once the customer walked away from the front desk, she said "ugh, such a waste of our time!" That was my first impression, so needless to say I had a bad taste in my mouth from the beginning. Even if she did think it was a waste of her time, unfortunately a new customer who had never been in the store, heard her say that, which is extremely unprofessional. Once this same lady finished reviewing my clothes, I was told they REALLY liked ALL the brands I brought in but they could only take 4 items (probably brought in close to 40 items) for $9.90. Honestly I think this place literally only takes items that you see currently in stores, even though they say 1-2 years old. They are extremely picky and definitely not worth the hour I spent there. If I hadn't had my 5 month old daughter with me, I would have asked the sales associate to go through each item with me and specifically tell me what was "wrong" with it. Huge waste of time. I saw a Dooney and Burke online.I called right at closing and ask if could be held until the next day. Against their policy they held it for me. Giving that I live about 30 miles away I called to see if it was still there before I came. Once I get in the store I examined the bag( in the past I purchased a D&B bag from Style Encore Greensboro that turned out to be fake I returned it and got a refund) this time I see both of the straps were cut.I show it to the cashier she offered me a 10% discount. The owner walks up asks what's going on. The cashier shows the damage to her she then whispers we don't offer a discount for that. I told her I wasn't looking for a discount but the bag is clearly damaged I also explained to her how far I drove and I pointed out her lack of integrity. Posting pictures of a bag that has hidden damage. I also told her that I felt prejudged because of my race my hair type (very short and tightly curled naturally) she got offended said I was calling her racist and asked me to leave.At the end of the day she said she couldn't offer a discount on a gently used bag that has cut straps because you just bought it yesterday. I was referred this place by a neighbor, I love shopping new places. I was excited after finding it, 2 ladies walked in front of me, they were greeted at the door, given instructions as they walked. I stayed at the doorway, nobody came back. I started looking around, looked at clothes, I saw the woman look right at me and continue helping others, I kept looking at other merchandise, saw her yet again, ignored me and kept fixing racks. At this point I purposely went around her to see if she would acknowledge me.... all I got was a look. I'm Spanish, and I suppose she figured I was not important enough to give directions on how this store worked. I'm very well educated, and was able to retire early, and well off. I could buy the entire strip mall and not think about it. My point is this... Never judge a book by its cover, if you are not a " people " person, you have no business working with the public. I took in (2) Kate Spade purses that had been used maybe twice and another that was used more but in great condition. After having to drop them off and return later because they were backed up, I was offered $60 for 2 of them and one was declined all together. They explained since they sold items at such a drastic discount they could not offer more. I declined and will give them to Goodwill before I sell them only to have them resold at a hefty profit for the store. read more

I initially really liked this place, but recently they have hired a younger, less experienced staff. They take much longer to sort the items, aren't very friendly and always seem stressed out. I have also noticed that they say "no", suddenly to the EXACT SAME types of items that were acceptable only months before the staffing changes. You cannot have "girls" working at a Women's consignment boutique. They should be working at Plato's Closet not Style Encore. Very disappointed. read more

I am disappointed in Style encore, when I went in I had a plastic bin full of clothes, they told me it would be an hour and a half, so I left, shopped around at thruway, went back, said it would be another 45 minutes. After that, they only kept just a few of my items. I know I looked around the shop and I know that most if not all looked as good or better than what they had in the store, Not that these brands are any better but I had 2 Coldwater Creek jackets and a Chios jacket as well, not out of style and not old. There were other items also that were in good shape, not torn, dirty or missing buttons etc. I will continue to try to find another consignment if I have to wait until Seasonal things are wanted. Maybe the change in management as one other comment put it has made a difference. read more

I had spent a good amount of money to get the stamps to receive my 20 percent off..came in today and was told they no longer did the cards and I even had three items I wanted to purchase they still didn't want to honor the discount, no sorry nothing. I have read reviews on this store on Yelp and FB and they are not good, but nothing has been corrected from the comments left. They definitely don't care what their potential customers think. They do have young girls working there going through stuff brought in and they wouldn't know women's fashion if it hit them upside the face. They want high end clothing but I have seen George (Walmart brand) and Kmart stuff on the racks every time I have been there. Last year I took a Talbots, 100% alpaca long camel colored fall sweater/jacket in there and of course they wanted it, and offered me $7 for it. . It looked great with the brown cords I wore with it Yesterday. I have seen the clothes ladies have brought in there and would love to see some of them on the rack but they wouldn't take them for some lame reason. They need a bigger store as it is very cramped in there. If they had more room maybe they would buy some of the awesome clothes I've seen get rejected. Not a good experience at all. read more

My first visit to Style encore was last week. To say that I was pleased is an understatement. The quality of their clothing is impeccable. The racks were neat and not overstuffed. Most of the items were fairly priced. I found two pairs of Nike tennis shoes and paid much less for two pairs than I would have for 1 pair at department stores. The staff was friendly and informative. They told me what they were looking for and why they did not take the items they returned to me. For those folks that are "shocked" at the clothing of yours that they did not take, don't be. They have a specific type and style they look for. For whatever reason, your item/s did not fit the bill. It is not personal. I was paid a VERY fair amount (and was pleasantly surprised!) at how much. Unlike ETC, whose cut is 60% them-40% you, and that is only IF they sell your item, this place is a goldmine. This is my new GO-TO place to shop for myself! read more
