The Snowman is a local, family-owned restaurant that is shaped like a 13-foot snowman and serves about 20 shaved ices, Yeti sundaes (shaved ice with Hershey's ice cream), a few Hershey's ice creams, dozens of milkshakes, frappes, etcetera. Many flavors are available. I have been a customer of the Snowman since 2021. During my most recent visit, I again enjoyed looking at the giant snowman-shaped building and interacting with the friendly employees, as well as browsing a "little free library" and hand-feeding goats in a nearby field for $1. I always get a Yeti Sundae, which is their most popular menu item. Last time, I chose the peach-flavored ice with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream, and this time I chose the mango ice. I greatly enjoyed the flavors. This time my husband bought a chocolate milkshake. He described it as "typical," and I thought that it tasted very chocolately. You may pay with cash, debit card, credit card, Apple, Google, etcetera. If you do not want to eat in your vehicle, three tables with chairs and umbrellas are available outside. I absolutely love this concept! What a cute little family-owned roadside ice cream stand. We happened to be in the area over the weekend and stopped by to the Snowman for an afternoon sweet treat. Surprisingly, the line was only 2 people deep when we arrived, but the two girls working inside were filling several orders already placed by waiting patrons. All in all, it took about 15 mins for us to get our order. They have a few goats and a mini horse to distract you while you wait. I had a simple scoop of salty peanut truffle in a cup, while my boyfriend ordered a large rainbow ice. Our total was somewhere around $11 before tip. I thought the quality of the food was good, his was very aesthetically pleasing with all of the colors, but the price seemed a little high for syrups and ice. I'll be honest, I'm not sure the cost of supplies. Either way, we'd certainly stop again! It seems popular for nearby lake-goers. When out in the middle of nowhere and you come upon a giant snowman you must stop and pay your respect. If then that snowman offers you some shaved ice or ice cream, do him a solid and get one. If not, he may haunt your dreams until you return (kidding, I think). It honestly is a roadside attraction located in a beautiful location. You can sit in a swing or a bench and take in the view as you eat your dessert. Speaking of dessert, that's the whole reason for coming here. Surprisingly there is a lot to offer here, but don't think about it and get yourself a Yeti. Ice cream and shaved ice. Whatever flavor you want, they can probably serve it up. Top that with whipped cream and you are set. My better half got a Dr. Pepper flavored Yeti and I had the Cookie Dough Yeti. I found this spot on the map after a day at the beach when I was looking for "roadside attractions" to take my daughter to on our way home. We have visited nearby lake Aurthur at Moraine State Park a dozen times but never knew this gem was hidden right next door! Just five minutes down the road from the park, you will meet one of the biggest snowmen you have ever seen. This snowman survives the summer by dishing out "yeti" sized cups of shaved iced in any flavor imaginable. In addition, the menu also includes shakes, cones, sundaes and doggy ice cream cups complete with a milk bone. My daughter chose a unicorn, or rainbow, shaved ice which came with a candy horn. I was feeling basic and settled for cherry shaved ice. The price was great and the ice was even better! Alongside the snowman is a few tables with umbrellas for visitors to sit and eat. Also, in the corners of the lot are a few beautiful wooden swings which make for the perfect ice eating ambience on summer nights. We are huge fans of quirky places and yetis so this ice cream shop is everything we love. This will definitely be a necessary stop for us everytime we are in the area! read more

I want to love this place, it is very similar to what you get at Rita's except that the "ice" here is more like hush puppy ice from the 80's and 90's so it is bigger clumps of frozen stuff. Also by the time you get to the bottom, everything is frozen solid. For the area, this is a cool treat and not bad, but do not make the trip just for this. read more

We drove by this hard to miss snowman on a hot weekend day. After getting in our workout at the lake, we had decided we were for sure stopping here! We even passed up the ice cream stand at the lake for The Snowman. This place is a very tall building that somehow fits a husband and wife couple. I was happy to support their home made business. Although I would have preferred getting ice cream at the lake. I think I was hoping for a nice soft serve on the hot day. I opted for a smoothie since they didn't have ice cream. We peeled off the road when we saw this place! My boyfriend got the shaved ice sundae with vanilla ice cream and watermelon shaved ice. This place is super cute and easy to reach, being just off both I-79 and Route 19 as well as a short distance from Moraine State Park. It's hard to miss the big snowman just off the side of the road. They have a big gravel lot where you can just pull in and get out to order; if you want to eat the shaved ice at the spot, they have a few covered tables nearby as well as some rocking chairs and swings on the other side of the lot. In terms of the dessert, they have a few different sizes, numerous flavors, and a variety of other items that include ice cream or combinations thereof. We tried four shaved ice flavors--tigers blood, red velvet cake, strawberry shortcake, and yellow cake batter. All were tasty and refreshing, and I would probably say you can't make a bad choice on flavors no matter what you choose. Just make sure you stop by. read more
