It is a small veteran owned business that has been serving the 11 million annual visitors to the Great Smoky Mountains for the past twenty years. My friend's hiking boots literally fell apart on the mountain so we stopped in to check out what kind of hiking boots they had. Prices seemed reasonable and they had a good selection. A salesperson spent some time talking to my friend and showing her the differences between the boots. In addition to hiking boots they carry anything a day hiker could need or want. They had a large selection of T-shirts, hiking gear including hats, ponchos which I really wish we had brought earlier when we got hit by a sudden rain storm, bug spray, sunblock, water bottles, backpacks, walking sticks, and anything else you could possibly want. If you forgot it, they got it! The Day Hiker is conveniently located a half mile from the entrance of Great Smoky Mountains National Park where some of the best hiking trails in the country await you.

The staff were exceptional. Everyone in the south is so friendly and the store exceeds that standards. I was able to pick up multiple outlet for under $50. You can't beat the value.

Sharon was great at my cash register. When I entered my phone number, I got my 15% discount for my birthday! She also helped me use the tap feature for my credit card when the chip didn't work. They carry a wide variety of products, including clothing, accessories, decor, and more. I guess if I had to describe this chain store's stock, I'd say hippie? They carry salt lamps and Buddhist singing bowls and healing stones and that sort of products. It's not really my thing, but I did find some gifts for some people who do really like what they carry. And the store was large, well laid out, and well stocked.

She looked at my friend and said "Enjoy holding your ice cream, but you can't eat it in here." We are adults. We are not children and do not need to be talked to as such. My friend had a pouch of Dippin Dots ice cream she was holding closed as we entered the store. There's no reason or excuse for the rude attitude from that woman. She may need to take some of their edible hallucinogenic mushrooms they sell to chill out. Oh, I did smell their handmade soaps, but unfortunately they smelled like nothing. High prices too. We came here early April, just walking around, we saw it and decided to try it. We bought a medium…read moresized bucket for 2 adults. We sifted through the bucket in the wired sifters. It took about 30 mins for both of us to be completed with the bucket. The gems we discovered ranged in size, from really small to extremely large. Once done, we went, sat down with an employee who told us all about each rock type. He laid them out, and took time explaining them. Once that was done, they have jewelry options if you want to have the stones cut down and made into rings, necklace (and I think earrings?) I decided to get 2 rings 2 carats each, and 1 necklace 2 carats. Once the stones were selected, he took the stones and gave us the rest in a bag to take home. Overall with bucket, 3x 2 carat cuts and the jewelry it was ball park $500. It took about 6.5 weeks for the jewelry to come in, once they did they were great quality, very beautiful, and worth it.
