    New hiking boots!

Bought a great pair of Merrill's boots today for a reasonable price, same price as I found online. Clerk was friendly helpful and answered all my questions. I was in and out in 10 minuets. It is tucked in the back of a little shopping area called the Village. Highly recommended.

I stopped in for a few hiking and camping items and was surprised at the selection in such a small store! Great items and prices. I have always enjoyed this place year after year.

All your hiking essentials. Also have some souvenirs, magnets, stickers, t-shirts, etc. Very small, quaint store.

Great selection of gear at great prices. The staff are all very friendly and can recommend great hikes that are " off the beaten trail."

Great store - good to see an independent store with good prices and great staff. Located in the Village, which is fun to walk through.

The problem is that they congregate in groups all over the store and don't fan out to help anyone on a Saturday. I spent $70 on a pair of pants, and I had to find the (again, friendly) person to help me who was chatting with two coworkers. Then we get to the fitting room and press the button - no one shows up. Stick one of those employees at the fitting room because you absolutely have the staff to do that. Finally, Melissa roamed by to let us in and tried to sell us their lifetime membership. I go in the fitting room, walk out in the pants and I needed another size. She doesn't ask me how it's going or try to help because she's too busy giving a 10 minute speech to my (annoyed) husband, trying to sell this membership. I finally changed, went to get my own other size, and we paid for two items and left. They won't give you a bag, but they will give you a huge box. Recycling, I'm sure, but a little nonsensical and annoying. At the checkout, the other woman tried again to sell me this membership. She would not stop when I told her four times that I didn't want it. Management: The reason I didn't join is because of the terrible customer service. It annoyed me to spend a small fortune on two pairs of pants and while you are overstaffed (if groups of 2-3 employees are everywhere, give them a task - who is managing the store? Why the obsessive focus on selling a membership and none on serving people in the store?), nobody is actually helping customers.

Typical great REI experience. Medium sized store with all the stuff you'd expect, including great…read morecustomer service! Conveniently located near a Tesla supercharger and some other fun stores to explore.

We walked in at 7:40 (store closing time was posted at 8). We have never felt so uncomfortable shoping at a store. There was a woman standing in the doorway clicking the deadbolt back and forth as a passive agressive way to let us know they were closing. My husband told the woman in the store that we felt really uncomfortable and asked what time they close and if they even wanted us there. She told us they close between now and 8. Based on other reviews on Google Reviews, it looks like others have the same experience with inconsistent closing times and rude service. There were multiple shirts we may have purchased but we have never felt so unwelcome in a store and told them how rude we thought they were as we were leaving. This store is truly the oposite of the brand's core value of "spreading opitimism."

We both usually purchase one or more wherever we vacation. The sales staff in this store were such fun to talk to and so helpful and friendly. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because they were out of a lot of sizes I wanted in some of the styles. That did not stop me from walking out with shirts for my two grandchildren and myself though! I will be shopping here again the next time I am in Gatlinburg. The girls working there were so accommodating, friendly and had a great sense of humor. My friend and I wanted to hang out with them all day!
