Been in a store like that in a while? Me, neither. Until today, when I stepped into the Cobbler's Closet. It was a trip in the Wayback Machine for me, to inhale the fragrance of real leather, from high-quality shoes that have real leather soles and honest-to-goodness stitching instead of glue. Florsheim! There's a name I haven't seen in a while, and there's an entire wall of 'em on display. I've never seen such a wide selection of Minnetonka shoes and moccasins, not even in Wisconsin Dells. You'll find hikers from Timberland, work shoes and work boots from Keen and Red Wing, and lots, lots more. A little more expensive than the discounters you're used to? Sure, after all, the best always is. You can't expect a Cadillac at Yugo prices and the same is true of shoes. Pay a little more up front and you'll be a lot happier for a long time.
