Delicious food! After many days in Denmark was craving some familiar home flavors and this did not disappoint. Dosa was great, tasty coconut chutney and the masala was good. My knowledge of Indian food is sadly lacking so I was happy to be introduced to this place by a native. She said she'd just eaten here a week before but was happy to go again; that says something! To start the evening, I got an Indian Summer Bourbon (75 dkk) which was nicely heavy on the bourbon but wasn't that great even though there was supposed to be Limoncello in it. Two of my favourite alcohols, how could it have gone so wrong? Also it had some dry herbs sprinkled on top which got all over my lips and teeth so I had to ask for a straw. Odd drink! Luckily the Chettinad Special Fish (137 dkk) fared much better with perfectly cooked salmon/trout in a delicious thick sauce. I was surprised that it came with pink fish as I assumed most fish used in Indian cuisine has white flesh. I guess the restaurant is just working with what they can get here. It came with rice and I ate the whole thing. I also got a bite of Maria G.'s Lamb Sukka Varuval Fry (139 dkk) which had great texture and taste. Normally I don't get dessert but I love Gulab Jamun (55 dkk) so I had to give theirs a try. It was so delicious but also very hot, so be careful! Maria kindly let me have some of her pistachio Kulfi (49 dkk) to cool my mouth and I almost regretted not getting that instead. I love pistachio ice cream and this was no exception! It was a little hard to hear my tablemates in there but I could definitely hear the party behind me. And although the waiter was nice, he forgot about us a couple times as the place was filling up. We asked him for some more fried chilies (which were incredibly salty on their own but seasoned our dishes well) and had to wave him down again once our food was half-eaten. But this is nothing that would keep me from coming back again for great food at a very decent price. read more

I love Indian food, but don't have quite the knowledge to figure out what's what and what's authentic. So I let myself to be dragged to this place, for what's supposed to authentic South Indian food. The place is on the busy Vesterbrogade, slightly tucked in on the first floor with room full of natural light (it can get quite dark after sundown). All white and tidy, although I'm not sure if it's the smartest choice when you're serving curry and the likes. I had masala dosa for starter, which is very good if you're into spicy stuff, as it's spicy. It was quite large and filling for a starter (I don't know want to know how big is the paper dosa is - that is claimed to be as big as newspaper, hope it doesn't taste like one either). For main course I had the Karaikudi Nandu Masala, crab cooked in curry. Now here the challenge starts. It's two huge crab claws and half the crab (could've had more in it) cooked in reddish curry that is spicy and very good. I got all the tools I need but it would have been better if the crab claws were cracked first so it would make it easier for me to scoop out the meat. Do I need to say that my part of table becomes very messy right away since I had to hold the crab claws and crack them? I do not regret a single thing tho' - that crab curry was very good and I'd do it all over again and that I'm used to eating crab, messy as hell, but at least the kitchen could've helped when the restaurant is decorated nicely, not a street food when you're allowed to break open the crab with a hammer :) For dessert our friend shared the Idly (the pancake-looking made from fermented rice (the menu described these as the form of UFOs :P ) and gulab jamun that were also very good, but then again I'm not into sweet stuff, so I'd have no problem to skip those. The bill comes up at 265 DKK for Masala Dosa, Nandu Masala and a bottle of Kingfisher. Quite fair considering I had the crab menu that is usually pricey anyway. I'd eat dinner here again, but maybe if I chose the crab dish again, I'd come better prepared Dexter style with plastic raincoat and gloves :P read more

Having grown up with Indian food, I can tell that the food is not authentic and very bland. On top of it is damn expensive. Be ready to spend at least 250 DK for a decent meal. The portions are what you get for a kid's meal. You should totally avoid this if you're a budget traveler. Even if someone is paying for you, it's not worth it, because your craving for South Indian food is not to be satisfied here. Just a total waste of money. read more

Meh. The food and service here was overall whatevs compared to my other dining experiences in CPH. I had pretty high expectations since this place has pretty good reviews, but I've had better Indian food elsewhere. I had the chicken masala and it was decent. While the personnel was friendly they went by us several times without noticing that we wanted to order/pay. I'm a big fan of Indian food and thought this was great. They have exceptional dosas, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly and knowledgable. As to be expected, there's plenty of options for vegetarians. The restaurant is on the first floor, but there are plenty of signs on the street to help guide you there. Food is respectably spicy but they can work around it if you need it mild. I don't recommend the Indian wine, but everything else was great! read more

Have been to this restaurant a few times now and last was this week on thursday for dinner. The setting is a modest one but the food is good. The chicken 65 was rightly flavored and the shrimp (forgot the right name but was a Srilankan version) masala was also very nice. The restaurant was packed and you can see the server not having much time to pay attention to anything. My appetizer, main dish everything came at the same time, despite letting her know to stage it. However, i have been here a few times and have had good experience with food, but service seems stretched almost everytime. Overall a good place to eat in Copenhagen. read more

This review is only for the restaurant in fields mall Amager. Today was my third time there. I usually visit the one in Frederiksberg. We generally go there for their all you can eat dosa menu.200dkk. And it is normal that we eat between 2-3 dosas.70-80dkk each. It was the second time in a row where they said they can take orders for individual dosas but not all you can eat. It seems a bit arbitrary as the server always asks someone at the courter if they can offer it or not. If it is off the menu then I expect servers to know ahead of time. I was here with my friends. It was my first time eating South Indian cuisine. One of my friends told me usually they are not too spicy compared to some regions in India. I ordered a lamb dish called Lamb Sukka Varuval Fry. It came with a bowl of rice. The lamb dish was served in a Dal bucket (a type of copper pot), which did a great a job keeping the dish warm long enough. The word Sukka or Chukka means Dry Curry. So there was almost no liquid in it. The lamb was cooked evenly, and it soaked up all the spices very well. For me, it reminded me of Rendang concerning the dryness. Taste wise was very delicious. Great balance of seasoning and spiciness. The heat level was moderate for me, but if you're not used to eating spicy food, I will reconsider about ordering this dish. There were two other choices for the spicy dish in the lamb category; Chettinad Special Lamb Pepper Fry and Lamb Biryani Spicy. First, I wanted to order the biryani, but after remembered my embarrassing encounter in Berlin about ordering the spiciest food (Yeah, you know what I mean... haha), I decided to go with the second spiciest one. I definitely will order the spiciest one next time I visit this place again. I ordered a lime juice, but it was weird that they served it neither cold or warm. It was just pure lime squeeze in a tap water. For the dessert, I chose Kulfi ice cream. I picked the pistachio flavour. It was denser and creamier than a regular ice cream. It was okay, but I would have wished that there were more chunks of coarsely grounded pistachio in it (like the Italian version). The ambience of this place was loud, not because of a bad acoustic, but because they arranged all the tables so close to each other, that it was hard to hear my friend talking. The service was good. The waiter that attended our table kept on coming back and asking about our food. He did forget to bring the dried chilli snack when my friend ordered it, as well as when we wanted the menu for ordering the dessert. Hence the four stars. I finally came and tried this place and I was not disappointed. I had a few Indian friends tell me that this was the real deal so of course I had expectations. The space is small but cozy and the waitress was friendly. We did the all you can eat dosas for 199 DKK. You get to pick 3 and then go from there. of course after 2 I was stuffed because they are really big. The soup was amazing flavors, and the dosas I picked were the spicy, masala and chicken. The chicken was my favorite and the spciy I thought wasn't really that spicy so she brought some spicy pickles on the side which helped. The mango lasso is great as expected but the chai really blew me away. Calling all chai fans' come here. I can't imagine how many more dosas people can eat because I definitely felt that I had over-dosaed! :) read more

Probably the best indian lamb I've ever had, the restaurant looked kind of weird from the beginning (like walking into someone's apartment) but was really cozy, with great lighting and calm atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and accomodating and the food was top notch and really impressed our party. Definitely go for the paratas! read more

Ate here with my sister last week, our first meal in Copenhagen ... and a great one! We are vegetarians, and there was plenty on the menu for us to choose from. It is up on the second floor, a cozy place. The tastes and flavors were very, very good. I highly recommend this restaurant. The only thing I wished was different was that they charged us for tap water ... this may be the custom in some Copenhagen restaurants, but as a tourist I did not expect that, nor do I feel that's appropriate. The dosas here are great and there a other very nice things on the menu. Service is very slow and inattentive (think 15 min before you get noticed), but food is really good. Also, Indian red wines...there's a reason you've never heard of them and there are none from traditional regions. Bring a health appetite and a good portion of patience. read more

Although I haven't been to the Frederiksberg location, I do have to say the Vesterbro one is great! It seems a bit random; up a flight of stairs and through a pair of doors that look like you're walking into someone's apartment. Except, you walk into a restaurant, that was definitely someone's apartment. The atmosphere is VERY quiet and muted. White table clothes, white walls, and quiet temple music add to the minimal muted nature of this place. Until... you have the food. Do yourself a favor and just get the dosa. Although the curry was also good, if you're craving a good dosa, just order the all you can eat and knock yourself out. These are amazing! As a fellow indian, I've had my fair share, and these are no doubt authentic. The pulled lamb filling, masala dosa, and all the chutneys are right on. Especially the tomato chutney. amazing! If you want a little bit of variety, the idlis are spot on as well. I'll be here a lot. read more
