OH. MY. GOSH! After moving to the Boro and seeing the cute Poms lounging in the window, The Spa on State Street seemed like the perfect place to bring our fur baby Sid for a groom. Sid is a sensitive soul, so we're particular about where we bring him and borderline annoying about stressing that he's a special guy who needs a minute at times. From the moment we made the appointment, Liz and her team were so accommodating, gentle, and enthusiastic about making his time with her relaxing and enjoyable. They truly has a passion for pups and it shows in the way they interact with them. When we came to pick up Sid, he was beaming! Not nervous, not scoochy, just totally stoked on his haircut. I 1000% recommend The Spa on State Street for anyone looking for a superior pup cut with 5-star service at an extremely reasonable price. read more

THE SPA ON STATE is unprofessional as hell and making me go "Karen" ‍ My dog has been going to holiday house for years to the RESORT on shady retreat road. They were booked up and could only make appointments for spa on state which is not my preferred given the crowds and parking situation. We finally agreed to an appointment there and a family member took my dog by herself to an appointment and couldn't find parking and called the spa very upset as she does have parking/driving anxiety. Apologies on my behalf if she was in a tiff, I understand but the receptionist at SPA ON STATE offered to reschedule the following weekend on a morning as it was less likely to be busy... My family member later called back Holiday House's main facility to see if there were any cancellations at the MAIN RESORT and the front desk said no... rest assured there was NEVER any cancellation on our end for the rescheduled appointment. Today my family member received a call today from Spa on State cancelling the appointment for my dog and I was left confused because NEITHER OF US had cancelled. I immediately called Holiday House where I was transferred to a woman named Katie who I presume is the manager or front desk coordinator - Katie said the spa cancelled after that feedback and oh also mentioned that we had cancelled ~~numerous times~~since November. I said well IF we have ever cancelled at spa on state it's because I myself don't feel the safest having my dog in that crowded of a town [SPA ON STATE] with a groomer he is not as familiar with, and/or for financial reasons as we had been in the process of moving last fall....but also this was confusing because my dog was just groomed at the main facility on shady retreat road a few months prior sooo and I have the receipt!? I don't know what she was insinuating because she acts as if it was a crime to cancel. There is a reason spa on state has so many openings in comparison to the main holiday house facility. Holiday House [the main one on shady retreat rd] had only cancelled an appointment for us before and LET US KNOW WHY because my dog was not vaxxed yet [in regards to the dog flu] And I've always given notice before canceling soooooo???????!??? I'm just disgusted honestly and I was really appalled by this whole interaction with Katie from spa on state Once the woman Katie confirmed they at SPA ON STATE cancelled the appointment themselves WITHOUT THE CLIENT DOING so I began recording the call because I have never in my life heard this from a business and had to let other people know about spa on state - KATIE said we should cut ties with a relationship with Holiday House because of my family member's feedback at not preferring SPA ON STATE. While it's true we didn't prefer it [no client does ‍] we sure as heck didn't cancel!!!!!! I really just care about my dog's safety and grooming so I'm annoyed and frustrated as my dog has been going to holiday house on SHADY RETREAT RD for years now and Joanne at shady retreat rd is a great groomer. The main resort on shady retreat rd said they're always trying to schedule people at spa on state while they're booked up but have trouble doing so and it's no wonder why because the location isn't ideal considering the parking and crowds and they're NOT professional Katie isnt anyway. Aaaaand my dog STILL needs to be groomed considering its the spring/summer and most places are booked now and he is prone to matting :) :) But alrighty then y'all!!!!! Huge shout out to Liz at Spa on State. First timers and we weren't sure how our dog would react. There were super friendly, and when we arrived they had him relax in the gated pen there. But soon realized he was a handful so asked us to come back and stay with him while she groomed. And, at the speed of light and without hesitation she went to work and did an outstanding job. She kept "me" calm as we worked together to be sure Tyson remained calm too. Thank you for understanding his fear, his stress level and for completing the difficult job. We are so pleased with the results. Wanted others to know that even a anxious situation can be a good one. Thank you again for a good first groom for out rescue dog. We will be back, for sure! What an amazing grooming experience for my dogs! They not only look amazingly beautiful when I pick them up, they are calm and content. The immense dedication and care each of my dogs is given while being groomed makes this experience exceptional for both me and my dogs! read more

The price for my one dog getting groomed ended up over $100 dollars, and there were still wisps of uncut hair all over her when she was supposed to be sheared closed to the skin. And it just so happened that right after getting groomed she developed a stomach virus, with visiting this place was the only thing out of the normal to her daily routine. read more

We have taken our husky twice here for grooming. Huskies have a lot of hair and they did a good job removing the loose undercoat. They use the furminator which is a real plus. The staff seems to care about dogs and are friendly. Zakoya came back happy and looking good. The fact is some places don't do such a good job and she has come back with hair flying all over the place when we pet her. We will continue using this facility because they seem to do a good job. read more

Hands down the best place! Stephanie always does a beautiful adorable cut and so gentle and friendly to my Mia! And when I actually come to pick her up she seems so happy!! Always smiling I can just tell she loves her cut too! This has got to be the best grooming place I have been to in all my 8 years grooming my dog. We recently brought our dogs to Spa on State since our groomer who we used for years retired. I was somewhat pleased with how they looked but outraged with what the price would have been had I not had a coupon, However, when I got home and our poor Bernedoodle's paw started bleeding profusely from his declaw, I was furious. It finally stopped for a day or so and now today, 3 days later, the dewclaw started bleeding again as well as a back nail. I realize things can happen but the groomer should tell the owner so I could have been prepared for what to do. If they don't tell an owner about this, what else are they not telling about. Stay away from this place. A year ago my groomer quit. They called me TWO DAYS before my appt to cancel and flat out refused to accommodate me with another groomer. My dog loved it there so 6 months later I thought I'd call and try again. Got a lovely girl who profusely apologized for the treatment I received and got me in (4 months later) with Skye. The day before my appt with Skye I called because I wasn't getting a reminder. THEY DID THE SAME THING!!! They told me Skye left "a couple months ago" and they called me 5 days ago and left a message (they did not. No message. No missed call). Why, if a groomer leaves 2 months ago, would you wait and call 5 days before appt? I got the same treatment. They refused to accommodate me with another groomer. They're attitude towards me was one of "tough. Too bad" that my dog desperately needed a groom. They just didn't care. Wasn't their problem. I cannot stress enough to stay away from this place. They're the pinnacle of unprofessional and they don't care about you - or your dog. read more

I am one happy puppy! My Humans recently move to Doylestown and found The Spa on State so I could get a bath and get my nails done. I was so happy with the way they treated me; they seemed to care genuinely about me and my well-being. I came home smelling great and wearing a cool bandana. They even used the grinder on my (long) nails to make them look terrific. I don't 'click' when I walk on my Humans' hardwood floors anymore! I can't wait to go back to The Spa on State for my next spa day. I think my Humans were happy too so I'm sure I'll be back. read more

Our groomer in Philadelphia moved to this location so naturally we had to follow! Stephanie is the best at grooming our timid Spanish water dog and gives a great cut every time! This grooming salon is clean, open and everyone is super friendly. Highly recommend! read more
