I first came here for a girl who was looking for modals for her final days of training, she did a wonderful job- all supplies where very clean and everything inside looked professional. The teacher made rounds on her students, and they always consulted her when getting a color. My hair turned out great, and I even brought my mom there next time. price I paid was around $30 including tips, at a normal salon this would be over $100, defiantly worth it. read more

This place should be amazing. What they do for cancer patients is the only reason they get two stars. I called this location 3 times before driving an hour to get there. At 1:40 in the afternoon we are told there are no students to help us after calling before we walked in and were told they could help us. Mind you, they are open until 6 and no one was doing color or anything else that would take a long time. We said we were patient and would wait and we were told no, that the students needed to go to lunch and often times they don't come back. Seems like a management problem to me. If you want to try, go ahead but it was an epic fail for us. read more

The Spa School has very poor administration. Several times I have scheduled an appointment when I get there they say they do not have my name down. Today I get there and they tell me the student is not there yet to wait outside. Five minutes later they call me in and say the student is doing another client that will take 4-5 hours. Ms Hoy, the instructor is very rude and unprofessional. She actually got loud with me and said 'I don't know who scheduled you but it will have to be re-scheduled'. I went Saturday to get a relaxer and a cut. The person doing my hair gave me severe chemical burns and the cut looks like a baby did it. The advisor odonell said it looked good. She took all of two secs to look. I showed her where she had all different lengths. She said she could fix it. Why do I want someone who thinks it looks good to fix it. I wanted a inch below my shoulder and got above. I just got out of hospital today for migraine due to these chemical burns. I have gotten relaxers before and NEVER have I had this issue. I called to get my money back to get my hair fixed but they said they do not do refunds. Apparently they only do bad hair cuts and chemical burns! I wouldn't even give them a 1 if it would let me do -2 I would. read more

stop on in the month of February is 20% hair color service. most would think salon schools are just a step down from a full service salon though the Spa School is a full service beauty school. I stopped here for the first time roughly 5 months ago to get my hair done and I haven't needed toner or clarifying treatments since then. Most salons in the Ohio region require a toner to be addeed every 2-3 though my hair has remained platinum blonde for almost 6 months! the staff is very nice and the prices are reasonable. there is no need to believe a salon school does not do hair as well as an upscale salon. After going to various salons around the high street area you must stop into the spa school for an upscale experience! read more

I had a great experience here the other day getting a facial done by Gabby. I'd never been here at all, and never had a facial done at a spa school so I went in with very low expectations. The salon it self is a little funky, older décor and the hair salon area is loud (it was a Saturday). However, the spa side is quieter, and they had me fill out a very thorough form about my skincare status and concerns. She made sure to ask me lots of pertinent questions and take a look at everything before starting. The room for the facial was nicer than I expected, but has thin walls so you could hear people talking outside and their elevator style, easy listening lobby music (but the room itself was peaceful). Gabby took the lead on the facial but another student seemed to be observing, and helped do little things (including an arm and foot massage, an unexpected pleasure!) I expected the two totalk more (either to explain things to each other or to me) and that's the only suggestion I would have - I would have liked a little more information about what products they were using, and what the next step would be, etc. However, I was very pleased with how much I got for my $40 (I did the deep cleansing facial, the regular one is only $30). It was an hour and a half, including hand and foot massages, and blackhead extraction in addition to what you'd expect from a facial. I definitely plan to go back in six weeks to a month. read more

I have been coming to the Spa School for 20 years. Today I brought my 88-year-old mother. We had incredible services! Meghan Q.& Betsey gave us healing hands facials. Their technique, pressure, skill & professionalism was so appreciated. Their instructors Ms. Turf & Mrs. Schultz must be amazing instructors, because these girls are something else! The best facials we have ever had in all the years I have come here!! Shelby, Ashley, & Rachel styled our hair. They were incredible too! My mother was so impressed with how professional they were and kept saying, "Are they really just students?" If you love a great price have the time and patience this place is for you. If you don't have one or either then it is not for you. I got my make-up (with eyelashes) and hair (style for a wedding) done and it took over three hours. However, it only cost me for all three of them $33.00. Where good false eyelashes alone at the make-up counter or salon can run up to $5-20+ a pair and if you want to get your make-up done it can be around $50 and hair styling can be $40+. So obviously the savings are HUGE. However patience is key - if you don't have much then this place will drive you crazy. Very clean and everything is done by the book. To me a lot of it seems unnecessary but that's protocol. I learned that any salon appointments (make-up, massage, nails, waxing, etc...) can be booked ahead of time where hair appointments are walk-in only. I was there late morning on a Friday and didn't have a wait period between my make-up and hair. In fact there seemed to be lots of students waiting around doing a whole lot of gabbing (not learning or working on an clients). They did say weekends tend to be very busy and people usually have to wait. Bottom line, they did a great job, I would give 5 stars for that alone. My make-up and hair both looked wonderful. You would never know students did it. If I was on a time constraint I would have to go elsewhere. If I wasn't I would return again. read more

Incompetent admissions people. She seemed to go out of her way to discourage me, saying with a student loan of $9500, I would still have a personal contribution of over $1000 a month. I explained that my FAFSA result was wrong because of 2yr old data, but she said nothing financial aid could do. I contacted FAFSA, who said only the school could make the necessary adjustments. Contacted the Spa School again. Now they can do it, but it would still be $250 a month out of pocket, and the deadline has passed, so couldn't start until next September. Going to Mason Anthony instead, $4900 cheaper. Even the Aveda Institute was bending over backwards to help with financial aid. This place is not recommended. read more

This salon is probably the worst place to go if you want good results. The workers are students, and while some know what they're doing, most do not. I went in for a trim and got the worst haircut I've had in my life. The school is great because it's cheaper, but I will forevermore pay full price with an actual salon. Never again. So I came this close / / to starting the Esthetician program here that starts at the end of this month. I decided against it at the last second but I am going to review the actual facility and services I saw that they offered for now and I will update if I ever go there and actually receive any treatments This place is really really nice! It's quite a bit nicer than the other Spa School I visited years ago. When you first come in the check in desk is to the right. Directly in front of you are two rows of stations with mirrors in front of them that go almost the length of the room. I'm not sure what services that area was for but the side that was more for the Spa services was more to the far right through a double door and down a few steps and I was VERY impressed with this side! It's wide open and spacious with lots of natural light, they have a section where they blend all their own Botanical oils for the treatments, specific to the clients needs, a few massage rooms, a Vinchey Shower room, Facial rooms and so much more! They teach you eyelash extensions , body wraps, body scrubs, microdermabrasion... I want to come and try some of these services although I am not going to be matriculating here after all read more

I was not expecting such a modern entrance, patient students and pleasant experience! What's interesting about The Spa School is that your technicians/hair dressers/massagers are students training to get their licenses, which is so cool! I came here with my Mom a few months ago, and we both got mani/pedis, and I got a facial. The ladies trimming our toenails were very meticulous; you could tell they weren't rushing and were trying their best. I unfortunately am a very ticklish person, so when the lady was massaging my feet I was very uncomfortable and couldn't really tolerate it, and she patiently accommodated the way she massaged! She was completely understanding, and really tried her best to be gentle. And their efforts showed, the final result looked amazing! The facial was very relaxing and it put me to sleep- it kind of doubled as a massage! The only reason why they're not 5 stars is because their prices are a bit on the high end. You do get great customer service and they do a pretty good job, but I personally wouldn't ever pay over $100 on just mani/pedis and a facial again. read more

The Spa School is run by Ohio State School of Cosmetology (not associated with Ohio State University.) It is a combination of classroom work and practical application for the students. It is a real, working Day Spa. You can get your hair done, get a massage/facial, a mani/pedi, and even makeup and eyelash extensions. There are cosmetology students (that primarily focus on hair), aesthics students (who do the facials, waxing, and massages) and the nail students (who do the manicures and pedicures.) In exchange for a student working on you (maybe for the 1st time ever!) you get a price about 1/2 that for a regular salon. Of course the students are supervised by licensed instructors. The good part is that health and hygiene standards are followed meticulously. They do not cut corners. The downside is ... your appt may take a whole lot longer than expected (a basic pedi is a good 1.5 hours) because the students can be fairly new. Overall, if you're looking for a clean, budget experience, it is recommended. read more

Going to the salon school group has been a very distressing matter I've been suspended for standing up for my self an instructors put their hands on me and when I've told the manager she down played it and told me I'm taking it personal.friends of mine have been threatened to be suspended when they tell instructors about being bullied they've had their stuff stolen and have had racial comments made against them and instructors have a horrible habit of playing favorites dress code like closed shoes and clothing that cover your butt apparently don't apply to instructors. I don't think their prices are low enough to justify the lesser quality and WAY longer time it takes for them to do the job. For example, I went in for an eyelash tint, I think it was around $15. My normal aesthetician is a good 1/2 hour away, so I was hoping to find someone competent that was close to me (spa school is 3 mins). Over 90 minutes! later I left, and my lashes were only marginally darker. The girl was nice, but not worth it. I've also looked into their prices for mani/pedi and they aren't low enough either. So I continue to drive out to Pickerington for a good lash tint, and she takes about 15 mins. read more

The price for a pedicure at N. High St. is $30 up...way too high for a school. And there is no supervising during your service. Someone comes over AFTER...the mistakes have already happened. They should offer significantly lower prices to have enough clients for the students to practice on. The morale here is low..not enough clients. The services take a longgggg time but you can't beat an $8 eyebrow tint. For pedicures...too high. I believe the prices are different at the Westerville location but not sure how much lower. read more
