Had a great time! I was in a group with a lot of novices - so whereas on a prior visit Jasper has said we could spread out, this time was very much a single file walk. That's my only real "complaint", otherwise I love the experience provided, the horses are all well groomed and cared for and the guides are great, easy going folks. Something I noticed that speaks to the kindness and care towards the animals - one of the horses had a bit of a sway back, and I didn't notice at all because they had ensured the comfort of that horse by bundling saddle pads. And the very second each rider was off they were removing tack, getting the horses off to food and water. They're the priority and it's great to see.

Amazing 90 minute experience! We'll organized, amazing staff and beautiful ride! Highly recommend if you want an authentic trail ride. Rode to the Rio Grade river and back. All the horses and riders were well behaved and fun Great scenery and fresh air! Don't hesitate to book because everyone of all experience levels felt comfortable. Will definitely be back in a couple years and bring my daughter when she's old enough to ride.

As an equestrian whose been riding for over 15 years I was extremely impressed with this stable for multiple reasons. I'd also like to highlight Kiley who was a fantastic and understand guide. I had a very specific request, for my dad who has been terrified of horses since he was a kid to go on a trail ride with me. I called ahead and explain everything and they were extremely understanding and wanted to set him up for success. Advising for a shorter ride with a mini lesson before in a closed arena to help him start to feel comfortable before heading out. The morning of our ride I had never seen him this anxious in a years and we agreed on a safe word if it became too overwhelming for him that he had the option to opt out. Kiley was very patient and listened to his fears and assured him they would do everything they could to ensure his safety and confidence. She gave us time before even getting on for him to pet his assigned horse and get comfortable. He had pulled a muscle the day before and had difficulty mounting (he's also 70), and he asked to opt out. The team at the barn was really understanding- and helped organize to shuttle my parents back to the resort while I went on the ride solo. My dad who has clinical anxiety was extremely thankful that no one made him feel like he failed or pulled any cowboy ego bullshit to get him to get on. Which in my opinion in all my years of riding is the most important if you don't want to perpetuate any fear of horses or riding. My solo ride was great, one of their volunteers joined our ride and it was so much fun for me, an English rider, to get my cowgirl on. They catered my ride to my experience level and with the little extra time we had after the ride gave me the opportunity to try some barrel racing in the arena before heading back. I hadn't tried barrels since I was a teen! It was so much fun to give it another go and on a horse that had excellent training- Miss Adelaide Overall I would recommend this barn to beginner and advanced riders alike- I think the key to any successful trail ride is communicating the goals you have for in the saddle. And I really felt Kiley and their team not only heard me out but was accommodating. This barn is also full of lots of rescue horses which is also huge for me- there are a lot of great horses out there who simply fall through the cracks and need a good home and they are putting in the effort to give them a home here. All their horses also looked extremely healthy! Will absolutely be coming back on my next trip!

Had an overwhelmingly positive experience with The Stables at Tamaya while staying at the Hyatt. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We did the yoga and evening ride package and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We felt safe throughout. Felt authentic and not like a tourist trap; the ride was quite scenic! We were allowed to feed and pet the horses before/after our ride. Would recommend.

Beautiful property. Wish the Festival of Trees would be held here every year- they really know how to decorate for Christmas. (Oh, the chicken fajitas are delicious and whatever they put in that red chile raspberry jam they have). Plenty of wild animals from birds, hawks, deer, turkey, and even rattlesnakes. On the other hand, having the Stables here makes it even better. In the fall, there are carriage rides that take you along the rock cliffs and by the river. The sound of horse hooves hitting the dirt, fallen leaves, and some warm apple cider in hand. You can really tell how much the horses and this place means to Connie. She even rehabilitates horses and helps them get back on their feet (literally). I tried horseback riding here again (after a nasty horseback riding accident in WY). I was a little skeptical, but Connie's staff ensured I had a gentle horse picked out and became more comfortable. It was a gorgeous ride (once I was able to enjoy it), and we stopped along the river for pictures with our four-legged pals. For old or young, this is a place I would recommend learning about the balance of horse and man

My family and I recently went on a sunset trail ride with Dominic. From the very beginning, Dominic was extremely patient and helped one our riders who was very nervous about being on a horse. We were so impressed with the scenery, the calm nature of the horses, and our incredible guide, Dominic - such an impressive and kind young man with an incredible work ethic. We highly recommend this ranch for all types of riders.

I was a little nervous because this was my first time riding a horse but Jasper and Sydney took great care of our group!

My city-mouse friend mentioned that she had always dreamed of petting a horse, so when we drove past an eclectic looking stable with gorgeous horses (seriously looks like something out of a movie), I figured it was worth a shot to see if we could meet the animals. I told my friend, "What's the worst they could say? No?" I parked my car and walked up to what looked like the main building, and I was greeted by a sleepy grey cat and outrageously cute little dog. A man that I presume is the owner followed behind the dog and asked me if I needed help. After pitching my request to him, offering money to let my friend just spend some time visiting the horses, he kindly told me that we were welcome to respectfully walk around for free. He told us we could meet any horse that came up to us, but reminded us to not feed the horses. By the looks of the horses, the man I spoke to clearly cares for these animals deeply, and I was really taken by the cleanliness and health of the horses. In the end, my friend was able to meet a horse for the first time, and my kids loved seeing the beautiful animals. They especially loved the sweet grey cat and inquisitive one-eyed horse. We will definitely be back to schedule a ride here, as I was so impressed by the animals and thankful for the kindness we were shown. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Broken Saddle!

This little gem of a horseback…read moreriding business has been in Albuquerque's backyard since 1989, and until last week, I had no idea it existed. During the Great Bathroom Tissue Famine, we'd pulled our hair out trying to find something, anything, for our kiddo to DO on the weekend, what with the masking and the distancing and the rest. Following just one visit, I'm very confident we've found our southwestern huckleberry. First, ya gotta sit down with the owner of this place, Margo(t?). She's a card. Running this ranch out of a comfortable double-wide on the high plains of Corrales, she's been there, done that and watched the area morph, over the years, from rags to riches. All the while, she's taken in rich and poor kids -- girls, mainly -- and turned them into equine stewards. As opposed to other ranches around the 505 (we've explored), High C Acres begins by teaching kids to groom, saddle and care for the horses. Our daughter's first lesson ran more than two and a half hours, and I won't quote the incredible price. Margo says she generally has between 30-40 students, of all ages and walks of life, at any given time. These people arrange regular, hour-long visits, to ride and care for the beautiful beasts. She's quick to explain the actual costs of horse ownership, particularly following a mild winter when feed costs are bound to escalate. My kid enjoyed a distanced, masked introduction to this way of life, alongside one of her good friends. It's likely the best money we've spent on Famine entertainment since we all began hoarding. Don't be surprised if there's simply no room at the stable when you call.
