Went to one on Silver Parkway Fenton MI to get into safe deposit box. Teller kept my driver's license saying she needed to scan it while I went into the viewing room. When I came out she was typing on computer with my driver's license in her hand. I said "a little more than a scan aye!". She was very startled. The state bank mobile app and text chat help service is absolute trash. They just switched to a different app and didn't send an email or notify anyone. All they did was post a notice on their website, when a majority of users probably never go on the website. So I had no access to mobile until I chatted with a rep for an hour and a half. The rep didn't even know half the information and claimed "sorry they don't tell us everything and all the changes" like wtf? That's your job to know. Horrible service, horrible help, extremely frustrating. Switching banks ASAP. read more

Never have I had such a bad experience trying to get a small loan. The loan officer (lets call her Stacey) wanted me to pay for disputed negatives on my credit report before they would give me a loan. She knew nothing of the circumstances and wanted to take out of the loan to pay these people for their own mistakes. It's been a few days trying to get things done and now wants me to come up with the original bills from a few years ago to clear the negative marks. Its just a couple hundred but it was wrongly added to my credit. read more

Sadly, I had an unfavorable experience with The State Bank in Fenton Michigan, The Assistant Vice President of Mortgage Operations, Asia Maeder. Asia kept sending me emails requesting documents for a mutual client. Upon reviewing the signed request we noticed the request was for a completely different client. Our Agency has no clue who the person was who signed the request. When I called Asia and even emailed her, she brushed me off. She said she sent the wrong form then went on to say she's never had so much trouble getting copies of documents from any other Agency before. I tried to help her. She said she didn't have time to talk to me on the phone. I said " Well our/your client is trying to get a mortgage and you are requesting us to send you documents". Again she said, she was busy and going into a meeting and hung up on me. I've never in my life been talked down to or treated so poorly by anyone in my life! I would never step foot in this bank, EVER!! We are all busy with our jobs. We are all going through unsettling times. We all need to get stand together and work together. I don't usually write reviews but after hearing their commercial on the radio again about how they help people in the community I laughed. I applied for a small business loan and over a period of two weeks and several phone calls to check-in with the loan officer (Stephanie) I had to go back to the bank in person to check on the status of my application. Nobody knew who I was or where my business plan was. I wouldn't leave until they found it. That was my confidential business plan! After 20 minutes, an employee finally approached me and handed it back to me. I didn't ask for it back! I was there to check on the status of it. Was it read? What did they think? I was eager to hear some feedback. It was obvious, at that point, that my plan had not even been read or considered. The confidentiality agreement was still attached on the front page, unsigned. The employee said she found it in Stephanie's drawer. I felt awful. Did I really mean nothing to them? Just sent out on my way. Not even a, "Have a nice day!" Please don't trust the State Bank's commercials that say they help their community members. They do not. If you HAVE a small business and it makes more than $100,000/yr and you've been open for a year, you can get a loan. If you want a loan to start-up your own business they will not be there to help you. They didn't even read my business plan! I was successful in getting my business up and running after getting a second mortgage on my home (obviously not from State Bank). After two years in business, I am making $190,000 a year. State Bank should actually read the business plans of their community members! Don't just shove them in a drawer. How many other businesses are NOT getting the help they need from this bank? I had a great business plan, $100,000 in cash and was willing to mortgage my house and they didn't even give me the time of day. I will never, ever bank with a company like that. Who listened to my business plan, ran my numbers and worked hard to get me the financing I needed? Huntington Bank of Fenton. There's a bank that IS actually helping people in their community.
