Sunday night = steak night. I dine at the pub area of the venue, there are 2 tvs playing on the walls. You have to order at the bar. I had the scotch fillet and my friend the eye fillet. Both medium rare please with pepper sauce. We started the meal with the chautterie plate where there are some toasted bread, porscuitto, salami, pickled, onions, pate and some greens. It was not bad.... The steak came with huge cut potatoes that they called chips and salads. The potatoes wasn't something that I enjoyed eating, salad wasn't too bad. My friend's meat was cooked perfectly but mine was pretty rare. I could not managed half of it and I wasn't in the mood to bring it back...... I am disappoint to say I am not sure my experience here lived up to the reputation I have heard so much about....

Amazing steak! Nowhere else in Melbourne like it

The station has ruined steak for me! Whenever I want a steak now this place has set the bar and the bar is high. Featuring an amazing steak list you can choose from a wide array of grain and grass fed beef and cuts. All steaks are served with chips and choice of sauce (I recommend the bernaise) However the station is not just about steak, their happy hour oysters are amazing and what really makes it for me is their desserts. I have been known to come here for a cheeky creme brulee just on its own as a treat. I have been going to the station for over 5 years and have never ever had a bad meal. It is not you usual pub prices but then again it is not your usual pub food either. I would recommend to book if you want to eat in the restaurant out the back but you can try your luck with the front bar tables which serve the same amazing menu. If you are a meat eater in Melbourne you have to try the station there is no way around this!

    The heavenly cow!

In the top 3 of steaks in Melbourne along with Dinner at Heston and La Luna. Early on a Saturday the place was empty which worked to our advantage as we had no booking. The service was good, I wish there had been more craft beers - like some from the local brewery "Hop Nation" but the selection wasn't terrible. Now to the important stuff: THE COW! There are about 15 different types ranging from $35ish to $85. We had the eye filet and the rib eye. It comes with chips salad as well as bernaise and pepper corn sauce. We also ordered truffle jus because it's truffle sauce! It was perfection and I am in a food coma now. I should've come here years ago. Wow!

I love the steaks here. Awesome menu

The Station hotel, what happened? It used to be a great destination for an awesome steak. Sunday dinner felt like an express lunch. No bread served before meal, drinks service very poor. No attention to detail- finished entrees and took ten minutes to clear. No upselling or much interaction by staff, not what I was expecting (4 1/2 out of 10 )

As you walk in, you're greeted by an enormous bar with about 12 taps of local craft beer. The ambience was casual to semi-casual with a rather mixed clientele. Seating is formatted in central dining area adjacent to the kitchen, great for viewing your meals being prepared. I order two pints of Two Birds ale coupled with my bone-in angus steak cooked to a medium rare perfection sitting on a warm bed of crispy chips and lightly tossed greens. The service was very attentive and helpful when making menu recommendations. I would definitely make this a weekly visit if I could.

Completely forgot my order when ordering at the bar. Took an hour and finally gave up. Now I have to track them down for a refund.

Seafood frozen - what a shame! Desserts were burnt and unlike the other food which was average but edible... desserts were horrible. Was so excited walking up to the venue from the location and exterior looks amazing but it's so indecisive... the decor is so confusing and definitely a lot more money was spent on the cluttered junk inside rather than training the staff and quality of food. Decor was ocean side, ritzy, Japanese? French? Asian? European? What the heck? Such a waste of Moët bottles as well - cluttered on the tables... With the right changes what an amazing place this would be.. definitely fell short for us. Id return another time to see if the copious amounts of constructive feedback was taken on board but if same experience we won't be back a third time.

We paid a deposit of $3,500 to secure our booking. Due to unforeseen circumstances we unfortunately had to cancel our Wedding. Prior to needing to cancel the wedding we tried contacting Christelle for venue and set up information for styling on the day with many many failed attempts and ignored messages. We contacted Christelle in regards to cancelling the wedding with notice of over a year. She has been completely unprofessional and has made this situation so much more stressful than needed. We kindly asked for our deposit money back as we had given ample amount of notice, we were happy to pay the full deposit amount until the date of our wedding had been booked by somebody else and if the date had not been filled we were willing to have Waterfront on the pier retain our deposit. She has been nothing but rude and insensitive towards the situation and myself. Don't be fooled by her kind act when looking at booking the venue as once you have paid a deposit she becomes completely inattentive.

You pay extra for the ambiance and the view of the bay and the Melbourne city skyline which looks great especially at night. We came on a Wednesday night and we had steak, paella and fish & chips. For desert we had tiramisu, chocolate mouse and sticky date pudding. Food is definitely outstanding not just on presentation but on taste as well! Our server was Jason and we were impressed with the impeccable hospitality that he extended to us. Very friendly, patient, detail oriented and with a great sense of humor. We are not drinkers so our food tab did not amount to that of tables that ordered alcohol, still we were given just as much service and attention. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will come back the next time I'm back to visit family in Melbourne.

Better late than never right? The most iconic feature The Strand has above most restaurants in Williamstown is its lovely view of the bay. I would imagine lovebirds would enjoy this view over a glass of Catalina Sounds Sauvignon Blanc to warm each others hearts. We ordered a dozen Oysters Kilpatrick, which were warm and tasty. I'm not a big fan of oysters, but these were delicious. The 1/2 duck in master stock with Asian slaw salad and steamed jasmine rice was interesting, the master stock in which the duck was cooked in was a stroke of genius. Pouring its oily goodness over the rice and duck gave the taste that much more oomph for my taste buds... or was that more quack? On the side we got steamed green beans with bulgarian fetta and french fries for good measure. I never really order oysters and duck when I'm at a restaurant, in fact, this is the first time I conjured up this combo, where in the past, I haven't been big on these rather popular dishes... and you know what? I loved it. With a good-humoured and pleasant waitress serving us, The Strand comes highly recommended, even though it might be a tad too expensive for what you get.
