Who knew I had such a talented team! We held our annual in-person team building event this year in Winston-Salem. My department is comprised of all remote workers, so we usually only see each other in virtual meetings. Just shy of 40 people broke up into 4 teams to cook 4 separate dishes from veggie to dessert. We had such a great time! I always send out a survey to my team regarding the annual event and every bit of feedback I received regarding the Iron Chef Experience was 100% positive! The experience was well organized, well managed, and in a great facility. All of the food was amazing and I feel some great bonds were formed across all areas of my department. I would highly recommend these guys for whatever level of event you are looking into. read more

We had a surplus birthday party at our home. Chef Don came to our home and, with the help of 4 dear friends, transformed our kitchen into a cooking classroom. We made a delicious salad dressing, chicken Florentine, ratatouille, and flaming cherries jubilee, to pour on top of a decadent Bobby Boy's Bakery chocolate cake! Everything was delicious. Chef Don regaled us with interesting stories of his world travels as a chef on a private yacht, chef for a catering company that served several major airlines, executive chef for a major tobacco company, and chef and owner of several restaurants. I had wanted to visit this place for the longest time since I moved to the area in 2013 and finally got the opportunity when I attended an event in late-May. It was a sriracha cooking demonstration and Chef Don was an excellent teacher and host! Our area is very fortunate to have someone of his caliber offering his expertise in the region (he was Maya Angelou's long-time personal chef and executive chef at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid). He'll weave in his stories while showing you proper technique and keeps you entertained while you learn a few things. Did I mention you get to eat the food he prepares? Our food was delicious and there was plenty to go around. Definitely keeping this place in mind for a team-building exercise, so it's likely I'll return in the near-future! read more

Regretfully, I have to leave an unsatisfactory testimonial. We took a sushi making class last April with Chef Don that was wonderful. As a Christmas present to my niece and her husband, we attended skillet cooking class last night with the chef Lisa. We were extremely disappointed. Finding a seat was a challenge and we ended up in front of the cooking island. Even sitting there, we struggled to hear chef Lisa. She did not seem comfortable teaching to a group. The people in the far tables couldn't hear her. She did not engage the students and seemed mostly to talk to herself. However, most importantly, although the food was very tasty, there was not enough for every student. We, unfortunately, we're at the end of the line. Our portions were the size of an appetizer, with two slices of scalloped potato and two small pieces of chicken, the size of a small juice glass. We ended up having to go out for dinner afterward! I'm very disappointed to pay for a cooking class for four, and then have to go out to eat dinner afterward. read more

I attended a cooking class here as a birthday gift. They have several styles of classes and I chose the pasta making boot camp. The boot camps are all hands on and last 6 hours. If you love to cook and want to learn some new skills I would highly recommend them. Do not let the 199 price tag scare you they have so many deals that you would not have to pay full price. Chef Don is fabulous. He went through everything step by step and gave lots of tips and advice. Lisa the assistant was friendly and helpful. She was also telling the class things she had learned from Don. The boot camps are limited to 12 people so you can get a lot of attention from the chef. Our class just had 6. He also has 2 monitors that show what he is doing so you do not miss a step. We made so much food. Everyone was stuffed and we still got to take a bunch home. They do sell their products but they were not pushy about it. When you get there they have drinks for you, an apron, and a clip bard with the days recipes. It was a great way to take notes. We made several kinds of fresh pasta, different sauces, and dessert. When we ate they set up a buffet with our creations plus salad. I would do a boot camp again. I had such a fun time. read more

This is NOT a traditional cooking school setup - it's essentially a demo kitchen, with one cook station at the front of the room with down-facing cameras and viewing screens and an "audience" section of folding chairs set up. My husband and I snagged a Groupon for this place, thinking that we'd be - you know, actually cooking - and that was not the case. We were expected to sit in the folding chairs and watch the chef cook, despite all the language in the Groupon ad indicating we'd be hands-on in the kitchen at our own workstations. You get samples of what the chef makes, which you have to eat in your lap off of napkins and paper plates because it's literally just a folding chair - no table or anything. Maybe people like the food, maybe the guy is a fantastic cook, maybe the recipes are skilled - I don't know, because we walked out when we realized that it wasn't a class but a demo - but if you're expecting to actually get your hands on a pot or pan, this place is a huge let-down, at least for those of you that are looking at Groupon/Living Social like we did. I wish you nothing but luck, Stocked Pot, but you guys should really either adjust your Groupon text or stop marketing yourself as a "school" - you're a demo station attached to a cluttered shop of culinary tools and such. read more

We'd bought a Living Social deal to take a cooking class here. The evening of the class (about 4 pm) we received an email saying the class at 6:30 was cancelled and had been rescheduled to July 1st. I called for clarification and the person I spoke to said that if July 1st didn't work for us, we could look at their calender and choose a different date. Something came up for July 1st and today I called to reschedule or get a refund. The man I spoke to said that our request could not be accommodated and said several times that they would have to cancel the class for everyone due to us not being able to make it. He said they require 7-10 days cancellation notice. I reminded him that our original class was cancelled by them the evening of the class. He said I could take it up with Living Social. read more

The Stocked Pot is a perfect way to spend a evening. The food is excellent and the instructor or chef's are very helpful. Some classes are hands on and others you just get to sit back relax and learn. If you like sushi you have to attend the class they offer. You won't be disappointed. read more

I have been taking classes at the stocked pot for a couple years now. Their classes are FUN,FUN, FUN! If you like to cook and want to learn how to expand your skills, check out their calender. They teach classes from simple dishes to foods from around the world. The thing that's helped the most is seeing the "technique" of preparing food. Chef Don, and the other chefs love to demonstrate and share their knowledge and "hints" in a way that is sure to make you a better cook. Chef Don is world class and his passion for teaching people about food and cooking is unmatched. I've been to classes for Greek and Asian cuisine, as well as cooking in cast iron. After attending these demo classes, dishes that used to be so intimidating are now staples in my recipe collection. I completed Semester 101 back in 2011 and wish I could have completed the other three semesters. I enjoyed the fellowship amongst my classmates, the professional instruction, being surrounded by kitchen gadgets galore and of course the delicious food we created that we had the pleasure or eating at the end of each class. VERY Disappointed!!! My daughter took a junior chef class that said they would make spring rolls, fresh fruit skewers, and chicken and vegetable dumplings. Duration of class was 3-5. This is a hands on class. Well they stuck a dumpling , with filling already made in front of them, then let them fold it. They gave the fruit to them to put on a stick, and the chef made the chocolate sauce. Not much hands on at all! My eleven year old was bored to tears. The class ended at 4;20. Wow, we didn't even get a full class time that we paid for. I told the owner that I felt that it was a glorified babysitting class. He said that there were other classes that might have been better suited for me. Poor customer service. They need to clarify age groups on these classes and offer a full 2 hrs. Walked out feeling totally ripped off! Would never recommend!!! read more

I was lucky enough to be in town to witness Chef Don make ribs. During this class, I learned a lot, and was able to witness him making some very tasty ribs! Chef Don gave great and interesting information, that I cannot wait to use in my kitchen.The food was excellent, everyone truly enjoyed themselves and no one left there hungry! The decor was tastefully done, we all sat comfortably at tables around the main station where Chef Don worked. I highly recommend going to a class here, as you won't be disappointed. I read all of the reviews posted for The Stocked Pot and would love to add my observation. I have been attending cooking classes here for over two years. You may attend a "demo" as some reviewers have described, you may enroll in a hands-on class, you may attend a "quick" class that teaches preparation of one dish . . . The Stocked Pot provides multiple choices. What I can tell you is this . . . every friend I have brought with me has thoroughly enjoyed the class and the food!!!! You will not find tastier food in this area, and the benefit is that you will receive the recipes and be able to reproduce it in your own home. Not only are you shown how to duplicate great recipes, you are taught technique--and if you want to enhance your cooking skills, this is definitely your resource. The classes are interactive, fun, fun, fun, relaxed, and informative. These chefs impart to you practical information and experience from their own culinary interests and experience, and they are all top-notch, first-class. Friends who have visited me from other areas in the country are jealous of this wonderful "gem" we have here in W-S. And don't even get me started about how many (very smart) gentlemen have brought their dates to a Stocked Pot class. In every class I attend, I see long-time "repeat" participants, now to include myself. This is a treat I give to myself and, ultimately, those I cook meals for. If you love to eat, try a class. If you love to cook, try a class. From "demo" to "hands-on," The Stocked Pot really offers the best for foodies.
