There were 5 lamps around the room and the illumination made us feel as we had got home. There were a couch, a coffee table, a mini refrigerator, a TV, a coffee machine, a cozy bed and a wow, the bathroom. It was clear that the bathroom is very well taken care. Very clean. Besides all the reached and beyond expectations, the balcony also gave us a great experience. My wife is from NY and she was never able to see so many stars in the sky as that night. It's smack dab in the middle of some pretty good food options, like Sofia's and the Bay Haven restaurant. My family booked a room with a Queen and Single bed. First off, you can't beat the price. Our room was small, but comfortable. It came with a small refrigerator, a microwave, and a coffee maker-- sugar, coffee grounds, and powdered creamer included. Our stay was four nights/five days and those amenities were great for cutting down on spending, since it's way cheaper to make a grocery store run for food than to continuously eat out. The whole place is quaint and lovely, and there's an amazing view of a mountain range just behind it. Out front there are a few benches, a pretty fountain, and just a lovely space to hang out and soak up some sun if the weather permits. The staff that checked us in, I suspect the owners, were incredibly nice and very helpful. All in all, I highly recommend this place.

If you don't like dogs or are allergic, this is not the place for you. But for me, it was great. I love dogs. There were well behaved and the whole property is invisible fenced, including the inside. Even without the familial connection, I'd be absolutely in love with this place. Family and friends gathered this past weekend for a memorial hike in honor of my dad, who passed in 2007. Leon and Nellie went out of their way to accommodate us, down to even offering additional rooms when some extra guests appeared and getting up extra early to make us to-go egg sandwiches we could take long on our hike up Mt. Washington. Both our group and the other guests at the Inn were treated like treasured friends in their home and it felt like a big old family reunion for us all. The Spruce Moose is the perfect location---a short walk to the adorable North Conway village, and a quick drive to countless hiking options. The decor makes you feel like you're visiting friends in a luxurious mountain home. Zeb and Avery, the two trusty labs, greet you at the door and will cuddle you on the couch for hours if you let them. The beds are comfy, and the rooms contain no tvs so you can truly enjoy the nature around you (though there IS wi-fi if you need your technology fix). Breakfast in the morning is delicious and filling. Tea and coffee are available at any time. It was an amazing weekend, in no small part to Leon and Nellie. The place was remodeled and has a hip, early 20th century industrial theme. Some B&Bs have nauseating "grandma decorations." Not this one! Rooms are very clean, updated and modern, with Apple TVs, electronic door locks that are activated by an iPod you get upon checking in, and cool lights. You can use the iPod to text the owner if you have any issues - day or night - and he'll get back to you within a minute or so. Beds are new and very comfortable. Breakfast was fairly standard (eggs, potatoes, bacon, yogurt), but it was very good, and there are plenty of places to sit and eat if you're an introvert and don't want to socialize with everyone at the inn. This was a huge relief to me because the early morning social pressure associated with more "typical" B&Bs is stressful. This place is also really convenient whether you want to go into town for food/shopping, or whether you want to go to the opposite direction into the mountains. Because it is so new, they seem to still be working out some kinks and adding to the customer experience. For example, our shower was kinda dark and could've used a light fixture in it and more shelving. We also could've used more outlets by the bed for phones/lamps, but honestly these were really small suggestions that the owner took to heart. He's a go-getter and I have no doubts that this place will continue to get even better. If you have the opportunity to stay here, definitely do it. We had a great time and plan to stay again next time we're in NH.

Pro tip: When making a reservation for a particular site, splurge for the 'site guarantee' (I forget exactly what it's called). Otherwise, your reservation might be moved to a different site. This worked in our favor once, but we would have been pretty unhappy if we were on the other end of the move.

Went to Terrace Pines campground for the first time this Memorial Day weekend 2023…read more It was just ok. Its more like a trailer park than a campground. Most sites are permanent camper trailers. Very few people were just there for the weekend. The campground was recently taken over by new owners. The previous owner let the permanent campers do their own things with their campsites. Many sites are run down and unkept. Several were quite trashy and needed to be evicted. There were many delapidated docks along the lake that need to be removed. Old abandoned canoes and kayaks along the trail to the lake. Fishing is very poor. We were told that the 2 lakes were stocked with fish, however the state hadn't done it yet this year. No fish jumping on either lake. Its my hope that the new ownership goes through and makes huge improvements. I'm not sure if we'll return. We will have to wait and see.
