Came for a really early dinner. Spouse got a roast beef sandwich with fries that she enjoyed! Didn't have much comment, but if she's taking the rest home, I know she liked it -- so I'll be fair with that. Tried her fries - they were crisp, but completely unseasoned. I ordered their standard burger with home fries. The home fries were dripping in grease, the burger was bland - no flavour, greasy, over cooked (they didn't even ask how I wanted it cooked to be fair), one piece of bacon crisp, the other raw. I mean...I ate half of it because I was starving, but when the best thing about your burger is the ketchup, you need to rethink either your meat or seasoning. I think what bothered me the most about this place? I left them with a plate over half full of food and the waitress didn't even ask if I enjoyed the meal -- that should be a no-brainer. read more

We went for an early dinner on a Saturday night. I got nervous because a large group and a few others arrived at the same time so I expected a long wait. There was nothing nothing to worry about. We were served and had cold beer in front of us before we could decide on dinner. The Reuben Sandwich was to die for. The fresh cut fries were hot and perfectly cooked. The gravy was one of the best I have ever had. Our server Megan was very attentive, friendly, and helpful even though she was running off of her feet. I will go back as soon as possible. read more

When we first entered the establishment we had no idea where to go. There was no sign saying to seat ourselves or to wait to be seated, my mom had to find a waitress who then seated us by the bathrooms and a loud blaring speaker. Then we get to the service, and though our waitress was very nice, the service was very slow. We waited a long time for our order to be taken and waited even longer for our food. I ordered a Reuben sandwiche which was okay, but very greasy. My mom go a burger and to her horror it was raw on the inside. Then once she got one that was properly cooked, the chef came out, but inside of apologizing to my mom for serving her raw meat, he went ignored us and talked to the table right next to us. Overall it was not a good experience at this restaurant, and we will not be returning anytime soon. read more

After a pleasant drive in the country, we arrived at the Sword and Musket in Mount Forest, ON. The service was efficient and friendly. Richard E., the Executive Chef and Owner, recommended a stuffed chicken breast "to die for"! That dish, as well as the Schnitzel with home fries and Caesar salad, was delicious! The menu offers something for every taste. A home-made cheesecake - topped off our lunch - schmeckt gut! The European touch creates a charming atmosphere. The decor is modern, warm and friendly. A reminder of things past. Weather permitting, we will be back. This restaurant is worth planning ahead for. read more

Incredibly rude and mediocre food. Our party entered the restaurant at 5:30 and the place was empty so we sat quickly and ordered appetizers immediately. 5 mins later our waitress comes and asks my friend if the coffee she brought in with her was empty. She said no and the waitress said that she couldn't have it in the restaurant. I told the waitress we'd all be ordering food and drinks but she insisted that the coffee had to be removed from the table my friend quickly finished it and gave her the cup. If we hadn't already ordered I would have left. I have been to much nicer places and not been treated this way. I could understand the concern if my friend came in with a coffee and refused to order however our bills came to $100. If the business was having a hard time getting guests to come in on a Friday night maybe they should be less rude. read more

We have eaten many times at the Sword and Musket - good food and good service. Last night we went as a family and from the second we arrived our server was rude and was a real downer for all of us. It seemed like we were a burden and a true pain in the servers #$%. A few of the workers were not wearing masks including the kitchen staff which we could see from where we were sitting. Checked this place out today, and was pleasantly surprised. Nice to have another casual dining location in Mount Forest (in addition to the Spot). Loved the atmosphere, and the bruschetta I ordered as an appetizer was tangy and delicious. The presentation of my fettuccine was nice, too, topped with a sprig of thyme. I'll be back. read more

Don't bother reading the reviews on Facebook. If anyone writes any negative words they literally will block you. This was by FAR the WORST restaurant I have ever been to. The food took over an hour to even get served (we ordered appetizers). The take out we ordered was FREEZER cold. And they never checked on us. We were out of drinks within the first 20 mins. Room for growth - I am so pleased that their is now another sit down restaurant opened up in Mount Forest. This place deserves a second chance. I went for a business dinner. Large table and was curious to see how it was handled. They where out of the Sea Bass which I desperately wanted to try. The waitress was nonchalant, and polite. But service was quite slow. We waited quite a long time for our meals. The calamari needs a bit of work as does the sauce that goes with it. Drinks where great I would recommend the Caesar. I had a steak and baked potato and vegetables. The veggies where over done to mush - I was the last of 8 to get my meal (15 mins after) everyone else was served and eating and to my disappointment my steak was well done. (Ordered Rare) To which the waitress replied "Oh yea I had a feeling it might be well done" but no offer to amend it. At this point I was hungry and ate it anyway. Steak was tender. My colleagues enjoyed their meals. A few discrepancies - The Smoked meat sandwich looked like someone disassembled it and threw it on a plate, (although it was tasty with great meat) and the Schnitzel did not come with Spaetzle as stated on the menu. A few kinks to work out. The trout, wings, soup, cod, schnitzel, burgers and roast beef sandwich ordered at the table where all fresh and cooked well. To share more about the spaetzle. Which is a german soft noodle/dumpling for those that don't know. The piece hidden under my meat cracked my tooth the night of, then one week later the entire tooth broke off and eventually had to get it pulled. Honestly how can you serve food that bad. read more

We waited there for an hour and a half and they hadn't even started making our food and gave very small sized drinks, charged $60 for tiny drinks, they were understaffed and when talking to the chef he said he's busy and they had a new waitress that they told pretty much nothing, I will never return to this restaurant. read more

Being from out of town, I came here with my husband and 2 sons (ages 1 & 4) August of 2018 based on its 5-star rating. At first impression, we had high hopes but were thoroughly disappointed in the end. - floors so sticky, I lost my sandal, and walking through the quiet room was awkward...gross. - no appropriate food on the menu to share with my one year old. - there were 2 other tables and we had to wait over a half hour for our food (with 2 young kids). - had to wait 10 minutes for the extra plate I asked for so my son didn't have to eat off of the questionable high chair tray. - greasy finger prints all over the table - extremely dim lighting in the bathroom - no paper towel in the bathroom - could not access the toilet paper because it was crammed too full and couldn't turn. - no changing station. - portion sizes and quality of food very low and very expensive. My older son had the best looking meal and it was grilled cheese and fries. - did I mention how sticky the floors were? I can't express how sticky. I would never eat here again. read more

Worst restaurant experience I have ever had. First of all, we had the choice of a table with a chair missing or a dirty table by the toilets. Since there were no spare chairs around we had no choice but to sit at the dirty table near the bathroom. After about 20 minutes somebody came to wipe our table. Finally a lady came to our table to take our order. Unfortunately, after 2 wrong orders and calling my African-american friend "homie" we were disappointed to find that the chicken wings I had ordered were filled with blood and partially uncooked. After pulling more wings apart and finding more blood, I informed the waitress, who brought the remaining wings back re-fried and on a plate that had some sort of left over blueberry sauce on it. I was informed that I would have to pay for the uncooked wings also. After asking why I still had to pay for the inedible wings,she told me the chef said if I had a problem with it that I can go and talk to him myself at the bar, but she wouldn't suggest it because hes a "pretty big guy". I was not expecting a threat with my meal. She came back with my change and made a joke about serving me "chicken sushi" and that next time she can tell him to burn my wings if I'd like.
