None of the cookie-cutter personality-test-like career indexes in this work, because Kathryn understands that career paths like life are chaotic, full of unpredictable elements like fate and luck, and she will help you WORK with all the unpredictability coming at you to best leverage your chances at finding your dream career and next dream job. With her generosity and wisdom Kathryn's help seriously changed my life over a course of working together on and off for several years. Could not be more happy or grateful that I found her!

I think that's very important when selecting a coach. I had made a lot of assumptions about the next step in my career. Kathryn helped me explore the rational and logic behind these assumptions. I learned just how much they were limiting my options. That was a big eye opener for me. Further, she pushed me to think about many other important factors about my next job that I was not really considering. Once we figured out the type of roles that excited me, we focused on tactical strategies to reach out to potential employers. My networking skills were already good, but she helped sharpen them further. Last week, I started a job that I am very excited about and I am very thankful to Kathryn for all the help.

Over a year ago I was not doing well at work. I was recommended to seek out a Career Coach. Little…read moredid I know how helpful Shawn was. Shawn was beyond helpful! He helped me from struggling to getting a promotion! In one year! He is always prepared for every meeting and remembers everything we talk about. It didn't feel like a meeting with a coach/therapist. It felt like I was catching up with an old friend. I will more than likely continue my work with Shawn, not because I have to, but because I want to. Thank you so much for your help and support Shawn!

About a year or so ago I was searching for a career coach to help me find "the work I was meant to…read moredo". Prior to working with Shawn, I thought that a career coach would assess my skills and then tell me what role/job I should do. Very quickly, I learned that that was not how the process worked and I couldn't be happier to have been wrong. Shawns' process helped me uncover what truly makes me happy, what kind of team I want to be a part of, what kind of organization I want to be a part of, and most importantly what job responsibilities would make me happy on a daily basis. For anyone looking to get a better understanding of their skills and job desires and use that knowledge to find a role that fits what you're looking for, then I'd recommend working with Shawn. While I found Shawn via Yelp, I also found a handful of other career coaches on the platform. I chose Shawn due to his business background and the fact that he was a true "Career Coach". I had a business background so it felt like a good fit and I was looking for a "career" specific coach versus a "Life/Career" coach. I worked with Shawn (In-person - I used to live in Seattle) for ~6 sessions. He broke down each session ahead of time so I knew what work I had to accomplish before our meetings and what to expect to talk about in our meetings. The work was challenging and thought provoking, but it really helped me discover my skills, shortcomings, non-negotiable and ultimately led me to the work that I wanted to do. He helped me define what I was looking for in a role, including: team structure, day-to-day responsibilities, environment, reporting structure, and more. He helped me gain confidence that even though I didn't have a background in design, I had inherent skills and aptitudes for the field. One year removed for working with Shawn, I landed a new role in a new career. Shawn helped me find a career path and happiness in my work. Working with Shawn really helped me understand my abilities and clearly define what I was looking for. Once I was able to define my ideal role, I was able to go out and get it. All in all Shawn was a major asset to helping me find the role I'm currently in. I would recommend him to anyone searching for a career coach. Just know, the work is hard but very rewarding!!!!

She listened astutely to everything I shared and also read between the lines, helping me articulate that what I needed to focus on wasn't even actually my career- it was my own personal growth and mental and emotional health. Her questions and carefully developed worksheets are truly holistic, providing an opportunity to reflect broadly on what a more aligned life looks like for you and all your dreams, passions, fears, etc. Yet, as I got clearer on what I needed, I still was unemployed. Laila recognized my immediate need to become financially stable, introducing me to the concept of "transition jobs" and helping me identify what type of work I would be able to do in order to sustain myself while having the time/energy/resources for the deeper personal development I knew I needed. Though it was a difficult process, and I needed a whole support system of friends, counselors, and Laila's holistic approach, I got to work applying for transition jobs. We worked together to create a series of resumes for my different skill sets and Laila honed the language used to describe my experience. She had example resumes and resources that helped me bring life back to my resume, which I had grown deeply disillusioned with. While applying to transition jobs, Laila advised me to apply to as many as possible so I could have the upper hand in making my decision. Still in a very low place, I took the first offer I was given. As Laila could have predicted, I didn't last long (only a couple of weeks). The whole experience helped me realize that I wanted something between a transition job and my dream job, a little more in alignment with who I am. Ultimately, I was given three incredible offers, and Laila helped me negotiate which offers were right for me as well as coached me in negotiating compensation for my skills. If you are somebody who, like me, struggles with imposter syndrome and fully claiming your value, Laila enthusiastically supports you in advocating for yourself. I never imagined I could get the offer I ended up accepting- I am earning the highest hourly wage I've ever earned in a part-time job with full benefits doing the kind of work I want to do (work not usually highly compensated). Throughout the whole process, I always felt I had somebody at my back who believed in me and was available to talk through each interview and the challenges of surviving in such a tough economy, but I also had somebody to celebrate each small win with. Thank you, Laila, for your presence, your attunement, your perseverance toward joy, and your fluffiness! Your support was deeply needed during a very difficult time and brought insights that will change the trajectory of my life. I hope that more people, especially those like me who struggle to live in the system as it is, can work with you to bring meaning to their lives (while also learning to cover the basic costs of getting by)! I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to work with you.

I've been coming to Laura for a few months now and am extremely pleased with the progress that I've made on my journey to healing some deep wounds. I found their website and contacted Laura and was impressed with their seamless intake process and the ability to set up and get automated appointment reminders. They have been extremely flexible and have made it easy to adjust my appointments (which I had to do regularly because of the volatility of my job). They even offered remote sessions which I took advantage of when I traveled away from the Seattle area to work from a new location during COVID lock-downs. Communications with Anchor Light Therapy have always been pleasant, quick, and easy (e-mail, text, or phone). They have a beautiful space with comfortable furniture and a plethora of beverages options that makes it feel more like visiting a friend. Laura has provided caring, empathetic, and judgement-free insights into my problems (like the personal stumbling blocks that I put in my own way and negative self-talk) and helps me come to possible solutions (re-framing my perspective, accepting what cannot be changed, and recognizing why some parts of my life aren't affected but others are). After a session with Laura I look back and realize that my feelings are valid (no one should tell you what to feel - they are your feelings) and that helps me move past triggers with a little more grace each time I encounter them. BONUS: Anchor Light Therapy filed all the necessary paperwork to help me get back some money from the insurance company. I didn't have to do anything other than provide her with my insurance card. I started receiving checks in the mail because of their consistent upkeep with the paperwork filings for each session. I expected that I'd have to pay everything out of pocket and was prepared for that. Anchor Light Therapy truly is a blessing. I would highly recommend visiting Anchor Light Therapy and Laura. Thank you!

Instead of apologizing, they tried to blame. This partime, they placed me with Process Technology. Two days in, I was messaging my recruiter begging to be placed somewhere else. This place was and still is a factory of nothing but OSHA, I ended up hurting my right shoulder and was denied medical. My recruiter kept saying they had no jobs, yet was sending me job notifications asking me if I knew anyone who was looking to be placed. I said, me. He ignored. I also had to hound them for weeks to fix my pay. I then had to text them to tell them I was being harassed at the job by a coworker because Process Technology was not doing anything. I have all those conversations recorded. I continued to ask for a different placement constantly. I was actively looking for a new job, but most places use temp agencies. I ended up hurting my right shoulder again doing the same job that I had begged to be put elsewhere. I was not allowed in HR because you are only allowed after work hours and have to clock out. I need to be somewhere at 3 every day. Express Professionals is responsible for paying for my treatments, but they are not filling the proper paperwork. I have asked thru numerous texts for the number to contact the insurance and my claim number. Express Professionals, or shall I say the owner is refusing to help me get the care I need. Not to mention, the owner has a photography studio and asked me if I had a senior daughter who needs her pictures done. Why ask for a specific sex? That is predatory. The doctor and PT that I see believe I have a tear in my rotary cuff, but they can't properly treat me until they get an MRI. But Jim, the site owner of the Mentor location, is not corporating.
