I really enjoyed it! The theater is small, holds about 200 people. The staff is very friendly, always welcoming you when you enter. The bathrooms always clean and they even have snacks for sale during the intermission. The reason they get 4 stars is because there is only street parking on Germantown Ave. and a parking lot for the stores in the area is about a block away. So you have to get there early to find a spot. They also have nice shops and restaurants in the area. I would highly recommend this place for a fun night out or weekend matinee!

During the sessions, I loved it. The staff here are kind, supportive and helpful. They are skilled and talented. It is more fun than you could imagine, so just try it out! They provide incredible feedback, so, just wait for it. Very helpful! I didn't try anything but flying trapeze, so I cannot attest to the other classes, but if I were in Phily for more than a day trip, I would absolutely try the other options for aerial and circus arts. Flying trapeze is so much fun, and in this tree-lined area, it feels very much like being in someone's back-yard as a kid flying around with an exhilarating feeling of freedom. Don't fret - the staff will keep you safe as you soar, literally, to new heights. Parking is not in a lot but on the street, so good luck finding street parking. There are lots of streets around, you just might need to walk a few blocks. Totally worth it though! Bring water and snacks if you want to stay hydrated and might run low on your energy. It took almost an hour for me to get there with all the transfers but the public transportation section of Google Maps made it super easy. If you're staying in Philly without a car, which I would highly recommend, you should get a Travel Wallet/SEPTA Key Card. The SEPTA App makes it super easy to reload money into your Key Card as you use it throughout your stay. I took their intermediate fabrics class and had a terrific time. The class was the right level more me as I had told them my prior aerial experience through email before registering for the class. I told them I can do a few straight arm inversions, a triple star, wheel-downs, and have been doing aerials silks for 3.5 years at that point. If you have trouble registering, just email them and they are fairly responsive. Rachel taught the class and we did a 5-minute warm up on the floor before some shoulder shrugs and a warm up climb of choice before jumping into the sequence - pretty appropriate for an hour long class, in my opinion. They have a communal rosin container for people to share and everyone wore their masks throughout the entire class. They even have a communal water fountain. I forgot to bring my water bottle but when I asked Rachel for a disposable cup she went to the back and found one for me - such a life saver in that humid heat. It didn't look like they had air conditioning but their windows are open and the fans did what they could. The space looked like an old church that was converted into a circus school. The ceilings were very high and the space was big enough to have two other classes going on at the same time. I learned a lot from Rachel and would highly recommend it if you're looking for a circus class to take in Philadelphia.

The Sedgwick was completed in 1928 and still has vestiges of its original art deco design. The theatre itself added to my appeal of "The Pirates of Penzance," the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta staged there . Decades ago I'd seen a production of 'Pirates' starring Kevin Kline and Linda Ronstadt. Quintessence's presentation was equally wonderful. Outstanding cast, outstanding staging, costumes, everything (!).... including tweaky nods to current political ineptitude. (The audience responded with cheers and applause.) Sit where you will. It's general admission, and as the saying goes 'no bad seat in the house.' If you have the opportunity to attend a Quintessence Theatre production, by all means, go! When I first came to TPAS, I--like some of my fellow students--was determined to overcome some pesky anxiety symptoms; also, longing for more creative pursuits--all the while reeling from the pains of a dead-end, soul-crushing job. It took a little while for me to "come out of my shell," but once I did, I instantly responded to Bernard's mindfully-crafted approach to acting and "the business." While I had always dreamed of being an actor, I never expected to be taken seriously as one. However, as I began to redevelop myself (under Bernard's direction), I fell back in love with performing, grew more disciplined, and developed a newfound confidence and strong motivation to pursue a career in the field. Flash forward to today, I have TPAS to thank for the motivation and professional development that has helped me to book 2 commercials and regularly gets me called in for auditions. I am so grateful to Bernard for instilling in me a range of skills that I can utilize; not only in my acting work, but also in my personal life. They had an outdoor stage set up and they also have a man indoor theater that they held some acoustic sessions in and the sound quality was wonderful! There was plenty of room for the amount of food trucks and vendors they had set up. Along with some chairs, the sound booth, etc. we are already looking forward to the festival next year which will be held here as well I believe.

I attended a dance class preview for free & the class was lead by the school's owner Alyssa. I knew immediately that this place was for me. As soon as you walk through those doors, you're not judged by your age or size or background or level of experience. There is a place for everyone. Everyone was so welcoming. The entire place has an atmosphere of community. The class selections are top tier. The teachers are so warm and willing to answer questions. These last 7 months have been so enjoyable and the accomplishments I've felt have been so rewarding. At my big of almost mid-40s, I now take classes five days a week; I take Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Praise, West African, and Hip Hop. I also take PBT (pilates + ballet) & their Stretch class. All beginner level and I moved onto my first intermediate class for Tap. Every week I'm excited to see what is in store for me. As someone who works from home, this place not only gets me more active, but allows me an amazing social connection & networking experience with likeminded individuals. You can tell how much Alyssa loves what she does and she hires & surrounds herself with people who care just as much.
