Wow. The Thomas Tallis Ale House was a recommendation from a friend on Instagram. I was in Canterbury for the afternoon and wanted someone that did decent craft beers and ciders. It was so good that my wife and I stayed the whole afternoon!
It's a little confusing when you get there as there isn't a bar. There are a couple of boards listing the beers and others that they have available and you place your order directly to the staff. They fetch it for you and bring it to your table. You even pay at your table (cards/contactless/etc payments welcome).
The offer their drinks is in thirds, halves and pints; the prices reflecting the fractions of a pint. The selection changes regularly and they even have another menu which you can get takeaway cans and bottles from.
The landlord is super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. In the quieter moments he's happy to stand and chat with you about the beers he has on, what he's had in the past and what he might get in the future.
The Thomas Tallis Ale House will be a stop for me every time I'm in the area which frankly isn't often enough! read more
