The Tidal Doula serves the entire Twin Cities from her home in Robbinsdale. Emily is a DONA-certified birth doula who is passionate about evidence-based care and support for all birthing families. Emily's a big geek who loves to laugh in labor and create lasting connections through education and support. A doula is a nonjudgmental, unbiased, constant support system for the birthing person. Emily offer's care to everyone regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, sex or gender, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, ability, age, or religion. Every birth is as unique as the people who are involved, and Emily is so excited to be a part of yours! The Tidal Doula also offers sibling doula support, birth photography, and parenting classes/childbirth education for clients.

History

Established in 2015.

The Tidal Doula was created in the summer of 2015. After the birth of my daughter, I knew that supporting families through the transformative experience of childbirth was my life calling. I have trained with DONA International in a Birth Doula Workshop, Breastfeeding Support for Doula's (2015), LGTBQ Positive Doula Training with Queer Birth Project (2016), Cultural Competency and Privilege in Birth work with Ahava Birth Works (2016), Transgenerational Trauma and Resilience Among African American Mothers with Maternal Mental Health Now (2018) and Cultural Sensitivity in Health-Care with International Women's Day, For Women of African Descent Conference (2019). I am committed to growing my craft, knowledge, and compassion I can show for all of the birthing people I support.

Meet the Business Owner: Emily K.

I'm a certified birth doula out of Robbinsdale who is passionate about compassionate and evidence-based care for all families. I'm a big geek who really strives for authentic connections with my clients, as I support them in all of their birth choices. My goal as a doula is that my clients feel supported and confident during their entire pregnancy and childbirth, so that they can start their journey into parenthood (or parents of additional children) in the best possible way. I have two kiddo's of my own (Aurora's 4 and Thorin's 1), and when I'm not doula-ing I'm typically chasing after them, cooking vegetarian food, bingeing Netflix shows, or harassing our two cats Mulder and Scully.
