The Ruby Chicken had a delicious tomato gravy, and the chicken pieces were really soft. The dal was thick and creamy. Everything paired together so well. Beyond the food, the restaurant itself was beautiful, with a Bombay-inspired atmosphere. There's seating both upstairs and downstairs, and while we didn't have any issues, I've heard there can be long wait times. Our server was friendly, although the service felt a little sloppy at times. They also surprised us with complimentary champagne since we were celebrating a special occasion, which was really nice. A particular favourite of mine is the Chicken Bhuna Kathi Gosht which has a distinctive and delicious flavour. The menu is quite extensive and includes a number of good chef's specials as well as most of the curry house standards: Madras, Korma, Dansak, Balti etc. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is ready quite quickly. They can deliver if required though I usually collect. The only negatives I can think of are that some of the curries are a little oily for my taste and that the prices are a bit higher than I would expect. However, the Indian restaurant at the other end of the high street has a similar menu and prices, but Nice & Spicy provides much better quality and value for money. Just what Dunbar needed for quite a while. Recommended!

It takes 5 minutes tops to drive along the road from the shop, 10 in maybe the apocalypses but after calling up and being told it would be along shortly to then call up -20- minutes later for them to say it will be along in a few minutes kinda tells the story they never started cooking the food till at least 40 minutes before we got it which would have been 10 minutes after they said it would be with us. This is the point where the person hung up on us, yes the shop hung up on the customer for asking where our food was, no even offering us a discount. There is no excuse for this lateness if the place is busy then why not give a more realistic time rather than purely lying to customers. Would not recommend Nice & spicy to anyone that likes having their food on time. This is not a one time thing either EVERY time without fail they have been late, now understandably you would expect the opening night to be slow, okay fair game, but every single time.... really just really. Personally I have waited in the shop 40 minutes after they said it would be ready to which I got some free poppadoms.. oh good that was totally worth the wait.... If you want to waste time and like waiting on your food then sure give them a call, otherwise I'd HIGHLY suggest driving to Edinburgh and getting an Indian takeaway from there as you will get it and come back faster than ordering local.

We love the Chicken Tikka Masala. They also offer delivery. We have visited the restaurant to eat-in a few times too and their buffet is great. They are very family friendly, you don't have to wait long to eat and the restaurant itself is clean and bright. It is not the most modern or "trendy" but it is a traditional Indian restaurant styling with a good menu. It has a good reputation in the town and on the one occasion (in 6 years of custom) where there was a mistake with our order it was very quickly sorted and we were happy customers once again.
