Awesome people work here. We were helped by Amy. All good to say except very high prices. Even basic porcelain floor tile 12x24 is 7 times the price as Home Depot or Lowes although I don't want to say it. I understand double or triple the price but 7 times? Too much. Way too much. read more

If you are looking for something in between Home Depot and a high end boutique tile shop, this is the place. They have a large selection of tile in a very narrow range of budget and aesthetic. This is not the store for you if you want something high end, handmade, or quality imports from Europe. But if you are okay with more of a popular look, going for what is trendy in a middle American suburban homes or rental unit, this is the place for you. The general sales people were not very knowledgable. If you want outstanding help, make an appointment ahead of time to meet with Keith the assistant manager, who is an interior designer and knows what he is talking about, plus he has a fantastic eye. He isn't just there to make a buck and rack up you bill. He is there to help assure you make the right choices and are happy with your selection. It is incredibly hard to find that kind of a salesman in any industry these days. This store has some foibles, but he makes this place worthy of a five star review. read more

With a large bathroom project in the near future, I took a drive to The Tile Shop on Steubinville Pike to see some of the latest in fixtures, tile, and marble. Luckily I have a small bathroom so I can't get too crazy. But I've decided to replace the tub and floor. This place has everything you need for kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, counter tops, etc. Good prices, Home Depot, Lowes, and places like that are cheaper, but here you get quality. I wish I'd known this place existed when I redid my kitchen. Nice big showroom too. read more

We went there to get some spare tiles. The place looked relatively empty but we were told that it was busy. In fact, there were quite a few employees, who only seemed to be busy with walking past customers to tell them that they were busy and would help them soon. After 15 minutes of struggling to get some attention we were finally graced with the attention of one of their hard-to-get salespeople. What would have been a simple job (I'd checked before that they had the tiles online) took at least 15 minutes since he kept on darting off to other customers that probably promised higher profit. Our request was admittedly small - two dozen white tiles. We also needed some slate tile replacement. The clerk claimed that this wasn't slate. And he insisted that he was an expert and that he was well capable of handling this rather than having his manager assist us. Except that the stone was very clearly slate. Initially we wanted to purchase stone sealant, grout, and many other things. We chose to take our business to another place since the clerk had a huge attitude. He told us that we should be happy we could buy tiles here. After all, there would be other stores in Pittsburgh where only the elect few, i.e. contractors, would have access to the product. Ok, I guess next time I'll order online. We won't be back in a long time. read more

Wow, this place is orders of magnitude better than the other tile stores in the Pittsburgh area I've been to! Not surprisingly, the selection is much better than going to a standard hardware store like Home Depot or Lowe's, but it's also much better than the tile stores located within the city of Pittsburgh. The customer service was friendly and the employees seemed knowledgeable. One of these nicest features is that all the tile samples are out on display without forcing customers to flip through them. The prices are displayed right with the tiles, as well as the grout color which is very convenient. They also have the largest number of demo bathrooms I've seen anywhere in this area. Highly recommended. Don't waste your time with the little shops in town. read more

I am a repeat customer to the tile shop where I have spent more than $3,000 on tile. I placed an order and was told that it would be available to pick up in 2-3 weeks max. None of my tile was back ordered. My pick up date was pushed back 4 times. I am 7 weeks out from original ordering date (I have already paid for all the tile in full) and have been pushed back again. This time they sold the tile that I have been waiting on to someone else. The tile shop would not compensate me at all for my inconvenience. I will never bring my business here again. read more

Upon entering the store with my client at 3:30pm, the store was mostly empty. A very nice young man named Jordan approached us and asked if we needed help. There were a number to items that we wanted to see that we didn't have the exact names of. Jordan was able to find all of them! He was patient, attentive and knowledgable throughout the entire process. After having such a negative experience yesterday at the company's Cranberry location, it was refreshing to see the professional qualities that made me a repeat customer of The Tile Shop in the first place.
