Cathy is incredibly honest, trustworthy, and goes above and beyond for her customers. As a woman, I've definitely felt taken advantage of by other mechanics in the past, so finding someone I can truly trust means a lot to me. I recently had a strange issue with my car where the check engine light kept staying on. Cathy's team did multiple checks, over multiple days, and eventually solved the problem for me, at an incredibly reasonable price. What I appreciate most is that I never feel like I'm being scammed or pushed into unnecessary repairs. I genuinely trust Cathy and her team with my car, and that is not something I take lightly. I reached out to this business about fixing a flat tire because they have great Yelp reviews, it wasn't too far away, and I wanted to support a woman-owned business. However, the woman who answered the phone was extremely rude to me as I asked a.) what time they closed and b.) whether they are open on a Sunday (which was the following day). I was pretty thrown off by her treatment so I decided to keep looking for another service provider. Pretty disappointing, honestly. REVIEW UPDATE: Case in point - see owner's response to this review (below and attached). Her reply proves my point - unnecessary rudeness - and she's clearly confusing me with another caller. As shown in two of the screenshots below, I called at 2:28pm to simply confirm closing time, as Google showed 4pm. When I asked what time they were closing that day, the owner curtly responded "NOW!" I said "Ok, are you open tomorrow by chance?" and she remained dismissive and condescending throughout our brief interaction. I was simply calling to verify availability before driving there on a flat tire, as operating hours listed on Google / Yelp aren't always accurate. As a woman, I specifically wanted to support HER business, but ultimately if her shop is closed, isn't accepting customers, etc...it is what it is. That is nothing for me to get upset or to push back over (as her response implies), especially when there are plenty of other places to go for a flat, including 24-hour shops. Thankfully, I was easily able to get in with another nearby shop. My issue isn't that this shop was closed or unavailable the next day. My concern is the completely unwarranted hostile attitude in what should have been a simple business interaction. Being direct is NOT the same thing as being rude, dismissive, or patronizing - let's not conflate the two. Reviews are based on customer interactions with a business - whether services were ultimately rendered or not. Potential customers have a right to know what to potentially expect when deciding where they choose to spend their hard-earned dollars - customer service is a big factor in that decision, as most people want to be treated with basic respect. read more

I called Tue with researched info on 4 new tires. Cathy ordered the tires, and would call me next day Wednesday for a time to bring the car in. Cathy insisted on not taking any payment information until they did the work first the next day. Wed., Cathy called, the tires are in and for me to bring the car in. Dropped the car off, walked to a Metropolitan avenue diner and had a good lunch. Walked back to "The Tire Place", the car was ready. A new set of tires, they replaced a bad lug nut stem, speed balance, alignment. Cathy showed me on invoice how much the car was out of alignment. Paid the bill, she also mentioned that every 6K miles to return for a free balance if needed. I discovered them on Yelp and am very satisfied with the work. BLUF: good, straightforward service. I needed a new set of tires. While a friend highly recommended a place in Huntington, NY, the round trip travel time was a little too long for my schedule. I used Yelp Projects instead to find a highly-rated local business, and came up The Tire Place. I asked what tires were on promotion, and they set me up with set of tires from General Tire. The estimated total time for tire installation and an alignment was about 3 hours, due to an inventory delivery lag. My actual total visit time was about 2.5 hours. Logistics: Like many other auto shops, Tire Place doesn't have a holding / waiting area for vehicles. You may need to find parking nearby before walking into the office to discuss your service needs. Service seems generally provided on a first-come first-served basis. The Tire Place has a waiting room with water, tea bags, a coffee maker, and four seats. The room smelled a bit like old cigarettes. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available; ask for the password. If you don't feel using the waiting room, Atlas Park is several short blocks to the east, while the Metropolitan Avenue commercial strip is several short blocks to the northwest. Know your tire size before calling the shop -- if you're looking to buy new tires. Vehicle tire size and pressure information may generally be found on a plate by the driver's door. The Tire Place offers free tire rotation at every 5,000 miles for the life of the tires when a set of four is purchased. read more

I order a set of tires for my 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe and had it sent to Kathy business. When tires arrived Kathy gave me a call the very next day. She advise me first come first served. So, I was their before they opened. When she arrived She had her employee bring my car right in. They provided seats and made me feel comfortable. I pulled up without an appointment. I wanted them to look at my wheel balancing. Within 20 minutes they took me in. The woman was very nice and ask me questions about what was happening. They saw the front wheels was bent and could not do a wheel balancing. they suggested looking at the rear tires and found they were ok but they were out of balance. They balanced the rear tires and put them on the front. They only charged me for the balancing and not essentially a tire rotation. I'm sure another shop would have tried to charge me for a tire rotation. Car is riding great. Everyone was nice and accommodating, pricing was great. Certainly would return. read more

This is the shop that I've been looking for as long as I've owned my car. The owner of the shop and the skilled mechanics who serviced my vehicle are honest, hardworking individuals; truly the salt of the earth. They aren't looking to pad your work order with unnecessary, high-margin repairs; instead they busy themselves with well explained, actually necessary, fairly priced, and well executed work for their many appreciative customers. On a recent Saturday morning, not 15 minutes would go by without at least a customer or two dropping by or calling in. By way of example, I needed replacement TPMS sensors; the quote I received from The Tire Place was a mere 20% of the dealership quote for the same work! This is not a typo; the difference was literally enough to cover a round trip flight to Anchorage. While discussing the sensors, the owner revealed an upstanding and principled character: I was fairly insistent about replacing all 4 TPMS sensors, but the owner instructed the mechanic, at no charge, to scan the sensors to see if replacement was actually necessary and if it would actually solve my problem (intermittent "TPMS Check System" error.) I can easily believe any other shop would have just swapped the sensors, whether it solved the problem or not. This assiduity was especially refreshing, since the dealership wanted a diagnostic fee for that! Furthermore, the dealership didn't even stock the sensors (!) and would need to order them, which would have turned an expensive but quick service visit into an expensive and slow, multiple day affair. Needless to say, The Tire Place keeps plenty of sensors in-stock and they had my car ready to roll in just a few hours, including complete tire replacements and 4 wheel alignment. In the short time that I was there, a client came in with an electric scooter that had picked up a nail in a tire. I was fully expecting the gentleman to be turned away, but without hesitation, a mechanic examined and repaired the puncture. While I'm sure they deal with far more technically challenging situations on a regular basis, I'm impressed by the shop's flexibility and ingenuity in handling this client's 'off-menu' request. I'm even more impressed by their humanity and genuine desire to help people. After more than a decade of dealership service visits, The Tire Place has more than earned my trust and going forward, I'm bringing my car to them for all preventative maintenance as well. What a great place. I came in last minute to fix a slow leak tire I had for weeks. I had no appointment or experience in asking what a tire replacement meant or costs, and they set me right up. The spot is really cozy, friendly and almost seems family ran. Which says a lot about them if they're not all related. They have a small but cozy waiting room, where you can grab coffee or some snacks from a little machine. They have tires everywhere which adds to the aesthetic and the workers are the best. A little off the beaten path but clearly worth the trip, The Tire Place has a level of service that is incredible. Smart, competent, polite and compassionate. My Ford F250's front tire was losing air. I researched and found them thru a negative review of competing shop where they were mentioned in contrast for their stellar service. I was intrigued. Spoke to Mary, brought in my truck and they made sure they saw it right away. After putting it on the lift, pinpointing the problem, the technician showed me exactly where the problem was and how to best address it. In my case, I had done some damage to my wheel and it required a replacement that they were not able to do but recommended a few strategies to address it. He then proceeded to look under the truck, point out a few things to be on the look out for and wished me a great day. I was then told there was no charge. This is the type of establishment I want to bring my business to and recommend to all that will listen We all agree it can be challenging to find competent automobile professionals with integrity. Came here many times in the past; one of my top pick in my nearest in terms of loyalty and professionalism as the owner is in charge of the premises; nice great people. Price is pretty much the same across any tire shops throughout the New York metro area of course, service is quick and smooth. Reason to write this feed is because, I came here for service the other day for my two rear tires where, I forgot to double check the both side wheel bolts after work done as I was rushing that day, as I always do. Although, I have got the piece bolt for free replacement (after market part) and it came in different color tone wheel bolt. But, as long as the missing bolt is locked in and back on. Wishing to get my OEM wheel bolt back, and I won't solely blame them, the business as people all making mistakes "Peace of mind." Missing wheel bolt while driving can be very dangerous; what a carless work mistake they made. Not much to say about the tire service experience, however, my final advice for all and others is that, always ALWAYS check the wheel bolts after service. Stay alert and look! Way way more competent then my dealer repair shop. I had a tire that leaked air but my dealer could not find anything wrong with it. Took it back to them multiple times. They suggested paying $900 to replace the wheel even though they couldn't find anything wrong. Finally I gave these guys a try based on the Yelp reviews. Sure enough they quickly figured out issue was some rust buildup on the inner part of wheel. Fixed it in 15 minutes and only charged $25. After checking many Yelp automobile repair shop reviews, I found this place on Yelp and decided to bring my car to this shop for their repair services. My 2008 Honda Accord had a vibration issue on the steering wheel whenever going over 45mph, and I visited The Tire Place to ask for help to look into the problem. This was the first time I used their services and at the moment I arrived, I was treated very well. They took time to listen to the problem I had with my vehicle. A very knowledgeable female technical( sorry-I never got her nam), immediately inspected my front wheels and discovered a rim was bent and is causing the vibration. She also discovered that I needed a new brake replacement and physically show me the bent on my rim and the worn brakes. She swapped the bent rim wheel with the rear and recommended to replace the bent rim with a used one. But this resolved the issue with the steering wheel vibration! This shop is very professional and goes beyond your typical car repair shop to carefully inspect and then repair your vehicle if needed. I also had my A.C service during the visit. If you are unsure about their services and fees, they will check your vehicle carefully and provide you with the cost and let you decide if you want the service performed. The owner Cathy was very receptive and explained the repairs/services that was done and any that is needed. I would recommend the Tire Place if you are looking for an honest and very professional repair shop for your vehicle. I can't recommend this shop enough!!! I called the shop in advance of a road trip and explained a few things wrong with the car. The owner was super helpful and helped me strategize how I could go about making the repairs in a way that was most affordable to me (recommended I order parts myself to save money). When I came to the shop, she and her mechanics took extra time to explain to me what was wrong with the car and were very transparent about items that needed to be fixed right away and what could be put off until I could afford it. As they were making one of the fixes, they discovered an issue with my tire and wearing brakes that would have made it unsafe to drive -- and my road trip was the next day! She immediately made a plan for making the repairs the same day so that I didn't have to alter my trip. She and the mechanics could not have been more patient and kind in trying to teach me more about my car and how to take care of it.
