Had the front/rear rotors & pads done on my 2009 Odyssey back in July 2022 for approx $700. Ivan…read moresaid he used Akebono coated parts which are suppose to be a premium product that I've used in my other vehicle with excellent results. The following spring, with only 10k km on these rotors/pads, I started to notice brake performance decline with it not really biting and needing to apply a lot more pedal pressure to stop properly. Brought it back for Ivan to inspect. He said rotors had a lot of rust, however, they were all suppose to be coated which greatly increases the time for rust to form. So, for rust form so quickly and so severe to affect performance in just 8 months and with only 10K Km since install....that just doesn't add up and Ivan wasn't able or willing to offer anything (possible defective warranty etc) other than to resurface them for an extra $100-200. That really didn't make any difference. So, I ended up going back to my regular guru who replaced all the pads with Power Stop shortly after. Fixed it and it was 100% better. Not sure if the issue was with the parts, the installer or a bit of both. Things just didn't make much sense to me and Ivan wasn't really taking any initiative or making any effort help me other than charging extra to hopefully remedy my issues. Lesson learned...Will keep to my guru from now on.

My family and I have been coming here to get our cars fixed, oil and filter changed, and winter tires switched for about a decade. The place is currently run by Jason Ng, who is an awesome auto technician. He is always extremely courteous, kind, and respective. Fluent in Cantonese and English, I love that he communicates to my parents in Cantonese and speaks English to me; this makes me feel comfortable for not having to stress with trying to convey myself in Cantonese. From all of our years coming here, me and my family experienced no issue. The COST to get our cars serviced is EXTREMELY reasonable, so if you are looking for a break from the crazy rates at your car dealership, I highly recommend giving this place a shot. PLUS, the waiting area is quite cozy, with comfortable seats, a tv screen, drinks, and... CUP NOODLES! That's right, they offer CUP NOODLES, the legit Chinese ones that actually tastes delicious! But if sitting around and waiting for your car to get fixed is not your thing. Markville Mall is literally a 5-minute walk away, so you could hang out there and get your shopping done. I actually live close enough that I just took a leisurely jog to get home. When your car is ready, they will call you to pick it up! I love that they accept e-transfer, but if that's not your preferred method of payment, they also take cash and debit. Tactful Auto Service Centre truly lives up to its name! No games, no shady stuff... just honest, reliable work from genuinely good mechanics. Every time I feel something is wrong with my car, I take it in and Ed takes the time to personally inspect my vehicle for everything until he finds what to be fixed. They never overcharge and their prices are so totally fair in my opinion. I never feel talked down to or taken advantage of. I fully trust them, which says everything. Giving this a two star review for at least being capable and getting to me quickly, however not…read moresatisfied with the service proposed, the fix proposed, or the service. So listen I live in Stouffville and while I eat and live here, I usually go to Markham to get my car serviced. I had an Air Conditioning issue and called these guys up late morning, and were able to fit me in the afternoon while some of the local shops were taking bookings for the following week. So that's where the majority of the stars come for this rating. I bring the car in, the mechanics, including Mario himself spend maybe 1 or 2 minutes looking at it and say "listen, you're going to need a new AC compressor" which, if you're not familiar, is the default answer most AC mechanics give if refilling the refrigerant is not going to fix the problem. No issues so far, replacing the compressor would fix a number of issues if they existed, but the things that irked me the most were as follows: Mario, was only concerned at first with not fixing my problem, but getting my proper name, mailing address and vehicle details so he can put together an invoice. He got all the info and called around and got two quotes for an AC compressor for my vehicle. He quoted me ~$1000 and ability to do it within the next hour. I ask, how much for the Compressor? He says ~$600. I was on RockAuto on my phone and found a new one for ~$230 with used OEM ones around $300. The next thing is, that these compressors are typically serviceable with kits you can replace the bearings, coils, and clutch with a kit that costs $100 or less includes new botls and rings, and easy to work with without having to go through the trouble of pumping out the line, removing compressor and refilling it. He didn't even want to consider that seeing as I'd assume he made a financial decision that it was better use of his staff's time to do a complete replacement vs. servicing the existing parts. Third thing, he quoted me all of that without actually checking for leaks of refrigerant or running any sort of tests with the compressor or bearing. He just immediately defaulted to new compressor. The fourth thing, and I respect he did this though I don't agree is while checking he pulled all of my refrigerant out of the vehicle as part of his test, and while he couldn't put it back (because the bearing was seized) he kept it and charged me for 1 hour of labour at over $100. I understand you have to pay for expertise but basically I paid that to have all my refrigerant sucked out without any direction afterwards. I picked up a replacement kit for bearing, coil and clutch and popped it on and AC works perfectly. I did have to pay $100 to "recharge" the system at a different shop but I will say this, I won't be taking any vehicles here in the future. Shame as I wanted to keep business locally.
