After visiting the beautiful Titchfield Abbey we were ready for lunch. This was just a one minute drive down the road. Plenty of parking for customers (even some spots under the trees in the shade). First things first: Food was pretty average and I'd give three stars. But location and atmosphere are great and relaxing. That deserves an extra star. It's really an old mill right at a small river. The pub is beautiful inside as well and has a charming outside area to have lunch and dinner. Since it was a hot and sunny day we took a table outside. Our Bulldog was welcome as well. Ordered fried shrimp, shrimp & scallops and Fish'n'Chips. Since I was driving I had a coke instead of a beer. Fried shrimps were ok. Can't (almost) go wrong with fried food. The cooked shrimp and scallops were quite very good, nice herbal sauce. Fish'n'Chips were fine. Hot and crispy. Staff was friendly. Ordering by app was easy and prices fair. Food was all fine. But just nothing really different or special. Apart from the scallops/shrimp maybe. But still: An enjoyable lunch in a great setting. read more

EUGH! Probably the worst fish and chips I've had in a long, long time! Truly terrible. Over cooked, dry shrivelled-up medium sized piece of Pollack concreted in heavy, over-done greasy batter. Not nice. This was the cheaper (£8.95) of the two fish options on the menu. I would go back and try the other one, in case they just had an off night. But really, there is no excuse for this! Friends had Hunters Chicken and Pork Belly, which they said was ok, but also looked over cooked to me. However, that being said; this was a busy warm, cosy, rambling pub with both Doom Bar and Hobgoblin on tap - two of my favourite beers atm. read more

My husband grew up in this area and he had a reunion with a high school friend of his, who like he did, also married an American. We had just visited the abbey across the street earlier in the day, and was surprised that they wanted to meet up here later that evening. I've always had great food in the UK and this place was no exception. I was beyond thrilled that braised pork belly was on the menu. It was nicely cooked and was a generous portion (and included the right amount of fat). Being Filipino, I had no issues with the black pudding, as the basis of this pudding is part of a certain Filipino dish. And what I thought was an onion ring was actually an apple fritter, which added a nice touch. For dessert, I had the warm, sticky ginger toffee pudding, which finished the meal perfectly. Our friends were regulars here and had a nice table in the back. The ambience was perfect and it is a great place to share a meal with others. It will also do nicely as a romantic meal for a couple. Parking is very tight and limited, so be prepared to walk a few blocks if you don't find anything immediately. read more

Came here with a number of colleagues after work. We were waiting a bit till everyone got there, but they did seat us, relatively quickly. I would have given them 4 stars, but when they served us our drinks, they provided the bottled water, in the bottle, and a tall glass with Ice. Only the inside of the glass had caked on food or dirt that was not the best way to start the dinner. That being said, when we all gathered, we ordered and the food was good. I ordered the "Salmon with Onion fish cakes".... to me.. that sound like a piece of Salmon.. with a side of Onion fish cakes.. When I asked what type of fish is the fish cakes.. she looked at me like I was an idiot.. and said.. Salmon.. I said.. OK.. I figured it must be a piece of Salmon with Salmon AND onion fish cakes.. NOPE... it was ONLY a mix of Salmon AND Onion fish cakes.. not Salmon "With" Onion fish cakes.. It was OK. Not much I was interested in here, but my colleagues enjoyed it. read more

This pub has a great character and history to it which it actively boasts. The place is an old water mill, meaning the building itself has a very strange layout, but nonetheless, the overall feel I found to be pretty warm and welcoming. In terms of food: The Hunters Chicken I had wasn't anything special, quite comparable to Wetherspoons really. Although I wouldn't have a family meal out at Wetherspoons, whereas I would at Titchfield Mill. Staff have always been polite and helpful to me here. A drink that *I* spilt was cleaned up and replaced free of charge with no quarrel at all, so that speaks for itself in my eyes. read more

Truly appalling. The worst service I have experienced in years. We arrived at c.12.30 for Sunday lunch. Waited 35 min for any waitress to come to our table - even for a drinks order. Drinks alone then took a further 15 min to arrive, and no food arrived until c. 1.45 - fully 75 min after we first sat down. Avoid this place, and go and spend your time (and money) somewhere that deserves it. read more

Really liked the Mill, and the local cask ales. The food is pretty good for a pub, but don't expect anything more. Found the fish and chips to be hit or miss. Nice relaxing place to enjoy an ale with friends. read more

My 95 yr old Mother and I lunched at the Mill today, accompanied by my little dog. We had the Sunday roast, this time selecting the Lamb shanks. So tender, long cooked the meat fell away from the bone. My roast within the family are rated very highly. I have got to say yours today came very close. The vegetables cooked beautifully, roast potatoes crisp but soft inside. Parsnips sweet, carrots perfection Well done the Mill, service quick, efficient, polite. We. Really enjoyed our meal Will be back soon. Only little tiny criticism that with dog you don't take bookings from us. It would be icing on cake if you had a small area book able . Dogs are generally perfect guests, under the table , out of sight. People like to walk dog on a Sunday then repair to eating place on way home. Please consider a small area that we could book. The Titchfield Mill is a very large but quaint pub/restaurant. It serves hot and cold food and drinks, and has many rooms (almost as if you are in someones house) to sit and eat or drink, and a lovely patio style garden to sit outside when the weather permits. It can get very busy at weekends around 'lunch' times, but the food has always been fresh and of very good quality. Something for everyone - The staff always seem professional and very helpful and the tables have been cleaned and cleared quickly. Situated close to Titchfield priory and on the road towards Wickham - a friendly establishment. read more

My sister visited here and was told that they had to leave ghe table @ 8 for the next party. The food arrive in two servings 20 mins apart. They were given the bill. Paid for it then told it was someone else's bill and had to pay more. In the end she left in tears read more

As you can see not visited for a while. Had a very enjoyable lunch with other half yesterday. He had a set 2 course meal - Calamri, followed by ham, egg & chips (tripple cooked), the waitress stated it was a small one. When it came out I thought if that is small! I went for a wagyu beef burger, it came with homemade onion rings, also there was slivers of horseradish. A bottle of bulmers & 2 halves of Thatchers Gold & it came to £30 something, worth the pennies & very enjoyable. Wiatress & Bar Staff friendly & professional. read more

Nice pub grub. Prawns came with their eggs, which I didn't expect and didn't want. They replaced with prawns in Marie Rose sauce.

We have dined here on & off for a few years but after our last visit will not be going back. It was my parents wedding anniversary & when I booked the table I specifically asked to be upstairs. I was told this wouldn't be a problem but when we arrived our name was not down as a booking & we were told we couldn't use upstairs as it shut at 6.00pm. We waited over 20 minutes to be offered drinks & our waitress was very bolshie. When we placed our order we were told that most of the food was not available. When our food arrived it was non inspiring, cold & nasty!!! When we complained the waitress didn't take too kindly & just offered us a coffee on the house. As the waitress was clearing the table she dropped food on us & cutlery , normally this wouldn't bother us but the fact she laughed & no apology, was a bit rude!!! Not impressed!! We had also won a bottle of wine from the weekly quiz but when it came to paying the bill, we were charged for it. When we pointed it out, it didn't go down too well & we waited ages for them to decide what to do & eventually gave us some money back. I have emailed the pub with my complaint & on their website it asks if I wish to be contacted about my complaint, I said yes but still a month on no contact. read more
