Was in the neighborhood to see some queer theater at the King's Head, so wanted a hearty Sunday Roast beforehand. Yelp did not disappoint since the rave reviews lived up to the hype! Super busy with other Sunday Roasters and a little hard to get a seat if you don't have a reservation, though we snagged a picnic table outside. Scotch Egg: Executed so well! Crispy sausage exterior with a slightly runny egg on the inside. This proves that sausage & eggs is not just for breakfast. Full of flavor and everything I was hoping it to be. Sunday Roast - 45 Day Salt Aged Aberdeen Angus Sirloin: Perhaps the best Sunday Roast that I've ever had! The beef was tender and nicely cooked and a large portion. All the veggies had a the perfect roast texture where they weren't too firm nor too soft. I like how the potatoes were crispy on the outside too. The Yorkshire pudding was eggy and fluffy and crispy on the edges, as it should be. Only thing is the gravy was a bit sparse and there wasn't any extra served on the side, so not much to mop up. The side of creamed leeks were decent, though felt a bit raw. Sticky Toffee Pudding: The way sticky toffee pudding should. Spongy and fluffy spiced cake immersed in a warm sticky toffee sauce. So moist throughout. Plus the creamy ice cream is a good pairing.

Sunday Roast at the bar with a side of roasted leeks. Meh.

I took the Yelp reviews to heart when choosing this place while walking around Islington. I didn't have a reservation but they offered me a seat at the bar which I happily accepted. Very nice people. I ordered the Sunday Roast with the beef main. It is a nice looking place, bright and comfortable. Pretty crowded for a later afternoon but not packed. Yet it took close to an hour to get my meal. To make up for it, they gave me a special side, baked leaks Aug gratin, I think. They were horrible. Didn't eat. I wasn't impressed with the whole meal. The meat was fine but nothing great. The Yorkshire Pudding looked good but had absolutely nothing going on, even when sopping up the juices. Because the juices were bland. Carrots and parsnips aren't my thing, and whatever else it was on the plate was unappealing. Could just be me and Sunday Roasts. Have had two in London and found them both to be pretty uninspiring. I'll skip the Sunday Roasts if I ever return to The P&B as it seems they're well liked. Just want the meal for me in June

The relationship between the two nouns in the name would indicate some tension. Upon postprandial reflection, the name must imply, like the food here, perfect execution. I don't always appreciate a scotch egg, but this one was meaty, crusty, and delicious. The mustard sauce gave a crucial acid kick that balanced out nicely. Our entrees were similarly excellent. I had the succulent and tender lamb rump and my wife had the crisp and juicy duck. Plate aesthetics matter, and the presentation was great for both. The dessert kind of stole the show. My wife and are still talking (and fantasizing) about the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. It is a hot, gooey, glorious rendition. We inhaled ours. It is exclamation worthy. The hostess was really great and helpful. Despite the fact that we showed up as the worst kind of American tourists--hungry, tired, desperate and with no reservation--she finagled a prime time table for us on a Friday night. If we were lucky enough to be locals, I suspect we'd come here all the time.

My wife and I recently visited The Pig and Butcher for a Sunday Roast. We started the meal with a pair of appetizers: Pig and Butcher Scotch Egg and the Cantabrian Boquerones. The Scotch Egg was nicely crispy on the outside with a layer of meaty tender sausage. The egg was nicely soft with a rich yolk and paired with a mustard sauce. The Cantabrian Boquerones were tender tangy anchovies with fresh basil and rich olive oil. These appetizers were delicious! For our entrée we split a 45 Day Salt Aged Aberdeen Angus Sirlon. Thank goodness we did because this plate was massive and plenty for two people. The meat was nicely tender but lacked seasoning which was disappointing because this could have been a much better dish. The meat was paired with airy Yorkshire Pudding, savory potatoes, and tender carrots. Once again, the sides had nice textures but struggled with flavor. Overall, we had a nice experience but were expecting more from the Sunday Roast.

So happy that we chose to come here as our Sunday Roast while on holiday in the UK. The atmosphere was lovely, the food was absolutely delicious (easily the BEST Scotch Egg that I've ever eaten), the staff and our server were all very kind and attentive, and I thoroughly enjoyed chatting about wine with the owner (excellent selection by the glass!) I've already recommended The Pig and Butcher to several friends and will certainly return on our next visit across the pond! Thank you so much for a lovely experience!

Looking for a restaurant that would be killer good, I checked my Yelp...London UK. Uber was easy and drove us the 1.4 miles on the wrong side of the road to dinner, I kicked in an extra fiver for the trouble. New pub looking oldish, designed for eating as opposed to drinking. Our open table was helpful in saving us a table for 8:30 seating. Our table in the middle of the floor, surrounded by diners was oh it was loud too, perfect. The menu was great, everything I would have loved to taste and enjoy. C ordered some wine and I went for the Homemade Rhubarb Lemonade, a good choice and refreshing beverage. I'd never had a "Pig & Butcher"Scotch Egg, really good just my thing. Now how come we don't have chefs making these in my hometown...I'll start asking. Next at the table Devonshire Crab Gratin, I was thinking something else and this was exactly what I hadn't expected and delicious it was. C ordered the Truffle Stuffed Sutton Hoo Chicken, she loved it, not a morsel remained. Short Rib, long story here...I love 'em and usually try them when offered. These were exceptionally good. I got a kick out of an entire carrot as my vegetable, yes cooked. Then came the "puddings" a Lemon tart and a Chocolate Ganache contrast for the finish. The checkered flag dropped and we we're happy food folks. Nice Foodguy-martin

My first time in London and the locals had constantly recommended to try a Sunday Roast in the city. Found this business highly reviewed on yelp and within a 10£ cab ride from the hotel. Do recommend doing a reservation as this place is very popular for roasts and family! They're very dog and child friendly with dog water bowls ready, and high chairs for the young ones. We came at 3:30 pm, placed a reservation for the earliest time at 6:00 pm. They don't do well picking up the phone for reservations, so come in person in the morning or day in advance for a reservation you'd like. Walked around and went shopping to build up an appetite. The service and host were both funny and very friendly to us, we were well taken cared of and given enough space to enjoy our food at good pace. The restaurant is bigger than it looks like from the front door, plenty of seating. We ordered the beef Sunday roast, hefeweizen German beer, lamb Sunday roast, apple pear cider, spiced Jamaican cake with cardamom ice cream and earl grey tea to finish. Everything was cooked perfectly tender though the lamb was done better than the beef in our opinion, the texture was better. Portions were excellent value for the quality of food, not too much where you need a to go box. But portion enough to leave barely room for dessert, which is what you want. The goal is to be completely satisfied to the point where you get home and pass out happily. The dinner which fed us so well came just under 80£ which we think is an excellent date night spot for the value. We are so happy we got to try out this restaurant as our first REAL dinner in London after living off street food near the hotel for too many days for a conference.

Made a special trip here from Richmond after seeing all the great reviews. We both love Sunday roast so were looking forward to it. Not sure if we caught them on an off day but it was not worth a special trip. We had the beef and lamb roasts. Both were 3 small thin pieces of roast with veg. Lamb was not pink which was disappointing...perhaps hot gravy overcooked it? Beef was pink and definitely tasted better than lamb. The gravy was outstanding. Cook on veg was inconsistent. I had 1 potato that was not cooked through and 2 that were perfect. Some carrots were hard and others cooked through ... odd. Opted not to have dessert after main. We both left disappointed in the food. Service was prompt and friendly.

We came here for a Sunday roast and it did not disappoint! The roasts were incredibly flavorable - we were particularly pleased with the pork belly and Hogget leg. The cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire pudding that came as sides with the roast were also very delicious. The one thing I will say is that we came for dinner with a reservation at 7pm, and two of the roasts (chicken crown and lamb shoulder) were both already out of stock. This was a disappointment, so maybe I would recommend lunch if you were hoping for the Sunday roast.

So came here on a whim because it was close by our hotel and boy were we in for a surprise. I believe reservations are preferred but went in anyways. Had a very nice waiter and the ambiance of it was excellent. Very lively, good crowd of people all different ages, great selection of drinks and food. We started taking a look at the drinks menu and wanted to try the different beers but ended up trying out some whiskey instead and one of the bar tenders came to us because our waiter told him we wanted whiskey. We had a lovely tasting of different whiskey. Very unexpected, but was awesome sitting down and getting whiskey tastings. The bar tender was very enthusiastic about it too and gave great detail of the different whiskeys. So onto the food. I had the pork and bf had the pheasant. Had a bite of his pheasant and the waiter had warned us about bbs because it is freshly hunted pheasant and lucky me got one. Had a good laugh about it since the bf didn't get one but it's all good. The food was absolutely delicious. We ended up getting dessert as well and am very pleased we did. Had the caramelized rice pudding with rhubarb and it was such a good balance of sweet and tart. I would highly recommend coming to this place if you're in the area. I am probably going back again before I head to the states. It wasn't just dinner, it was an experience.

First Sunday roast experience in London, and food was great. Make sure you have reservations in advance and this place is always busy. Before you even get to the front door, the air is filled with the smell of the roasts (a good sign of the food to come). Be sure to leave room for dessert, as those were tasty as well!

We've been here twice in a week and it's amazing. Once for regular dinner and once for afternoon Sunday roast. Whenever you're here, make sure to order the scotch egg, it's divine. The rest of the menu changes everyday so you may not have the same options. The steak here is great as well as the cabbage preparation. If you're interested in getting the Sunday roast, you will either need a reservation or get there before 11:30 on Sunday. The line picks up quickly but it's worth it. The beef roast was better than the lamb but both were delicious. The staff here is friendly and attentive. It's funny that the British waitstaff is so great but the waitstaff in Paris is awful. Both countries follow a no tip culture but one country is clearly rude about doing their job. I digress. Pig and Butcher is a great restaurant and deserves your visit.

Our server was attentive without hovering. It's a good idea to make reservations at Hawksmoor especially for the Sunday roast.
