Great little toy shop in Bethel! Nice selection of board games, Brio toys, some Playmobil, baby toys, and unusual things for older kids-- like fairy dollhouses. They go beyond the brands you find at Target to offer something different, and everything is high quality. And the friendly little pooch in the front window really gives this place a special vibe. Every year we look forward to selecting our Christmas gifts for all the little ones in our family at the Toy Room. Not only is there a myriad of gifts to choose from but the staff could not be more helpful and professional. We are finished with our buying (sometimes for 25 or more) in record time and wrapping is included. No one is ever grumpy!! Who can beat that? My disabled family member wanted a toy for her neighbor's Christmas gift, and I didn't want to bring her to a store during Covid. The Toy Room's website was easy to navigate and had just enough description for virtual browsing (without being overwhelming). When I walked in, the saleswoman knew exactly where the toy was, everyone was wearing masks, and there was hand sanitizer by the door. I was in and out in 3 minutes, and felt safe the entire time. We have been happy customers of The Toy Room for years. Kim, the owner, always provides service with a smile. She has an excellent selection of fun and educational toys, games, and crafts. It can be challenging to shop for gifts with children in tow. One on occasion, I actually called Kim to see if she had a particular item in stock for a last-minute gift for my son. She did, and I purchased it over the phone, she gift wrapped it (always free gift wrapping), I pulled up to the curb, and she delivered it through my car window as my child sat in the backseat. Where else can you get that level of service? Certainly not in any big box store or online! I don't understand the negative review on here - Kim has always been very friendly and professional, and I have been a customer for a long time. It sounds like sour grapes to me. As much as I'd like to support a small-town shop like this, I won't be back. I've been in several times and have heard the owner gossiping about people which is very unprofessional. I wonder what she says about the customers when they leave? The selection of toys is okay but the store is very cluttered and cramped. You can't fit through with a stroller and it does not seem to be ADA compliant. The Toy Chest in Ridgefield or The Toy Tree in Newtown are much better choices for variety, price and professionalism. read more

The Toy Room is a wonderful small business! The owner is friendly and knows exactly what to recommend. For example, I can walk in the door, ask for a gift for a 6 year old girl who likes crafts and she will find the perfect gift. Then, she wraps it for you! She only carries quality merchandise. My daughter created a "wish list" for her birthday and her friends were able to buy off this list. She is active in the local community and supports school fundraisers and events.
