I was trying my best to avoid large, corporate chains like Babies' R Us that pump out items by the millions. My friend's baby deserves the best, most unique stuff and I was determined to find it!
It can be a little tough to find them, as we drove right by the first time; even though I was literally looking over as we drove by and saying, "Oh! It has a red slate roof like that building right there!" Well, that building was it.
It's in a random location in a little strip of independent shops, and to be honest, their sign is ridiculously ugly. They could definitely use some help from my graphic designer friend in the branding department, but I couldn't let that stop me!
We entered the super tiny, and somewhat cluttered, store and we were the only ones in there! It is kind of small, but those shelves and hooks are packed with unique product.
It was exactly what I was looking for - a unique, independent baby store where one will find inspiring and creative items for baby and mom. I couldn't have been more happy with the selection of products - all things you can't easily find many other places, or that are imported from other countries or are just plain unique.
They carry items for both baby and kid - from swaddles, bibs, burps, cloth diaper supplies (which seems to be a big deal?), stuffed animals, teething supplies, pacifiers and bottles, breast pumping supplies, children's books and toys and even some of those cool miscellaneous toys and gadgets that tend to amuse and delight both children and adults alike.
I got an assortment of items for mommy-to-be: burps, swaddles, stuffed animals, teething toy, pacifier wipes, etc. which together totaled almost $90. Which brings me to the fact that this place is certainly not cheap -- I didn't really look at anything that was priced under $15, but that could also just be that I tend to be drawn to the most expensive items without even knowing it. I've just got an eye for quality!
And even if the items were a tad overpriced, at the very least you could attribute the extra cash to the amazing customer service. There was one young girl at the counter, and she was extremely friendly, helpful and bubbly. She made the shopping experience quite enjoyable, asking what we were looking for, offering suggestions and even sharing some personal stories of her own about different items in the store. She made a great salesperson and an even better confidant. It was really refreshing after shopping in NYC for the past two months.
All in all, an A+ experience on all fronts (accept a little steep in pricing) and I would absolutely return and would be more than happy if just about anything were purchased in this store for me when I finally have a baby!
