I mean, THE place to go. The trainers/owners are some of the strongest people in the world (literally), and they really know what they're talking about, not just from reading a book, but from experience (lots of it). One of the best places to go to if you're serious about Strongman/Strongwoman competitions or skills. There is no better place to go in Ventura/LA county than this, in my opinion. As a female, going to the weight-lifting section of a gym intimidated me. All the mirrors, the people who seemed to know what they are doing were not a great inspiration. What do I need for an excellent workout? Accountability. Guidance. Encouragement. And that push to do one more when on my own I would have given up 5 reps earlier. I am not a strongman. And, while I will not be on any competition circuit, I have found a home among some very strong people. At heart, I'm a trail runner, a mom, a regular person. I am looking for toned strength, not bulk; flexibility; and injury prevention. My new haven is The Training Hall. I'm meeting with Romark 3 days per week, and he is respectful, knowledgeable, and is pushing me to go beyond my own self-established limits. He keeps an online record that monitors my progress, and each session is unique and individualized. Everyone here is friendly. This is an excellent place for anyone trying to do more. This is simply a perfect gym for anyone who wants to workout. If you're just starting, you will find there all the equipment you need, and a team of excellent trainers to guide you around. If you're a more accomplished athlete, then you'll love this gym! Besides the standard equipment, you will find a lot of other dumbbells, bars, machines, boulders, etc. that you won't find in any other gym. But most importantly, the gym is managed by passionate trainers who will make you reach your goals. Like stones, truck pulls, 1000lb tires, and even a pit-shark. Community is also really important at the Training Hall. It's one best groups of trainers and athletes you could ever be around. The Training Hall is worth traveling to. Everyone is treated like family from the minute you walk through their doors. This is not a commercial gym with people coming in and out after each workout, its not a place you pass through as part of your day, this is a gym you purposely stop at, have a great time at, and develop friendships that will help you succeed with any goals you set. No matter your shape, size, skill or lack of skill, it's a gym worth traveling to. My husband and I travel more than 70 miles every Saturday to train at this gym and it's worth every mile. The trainers in the gym are always there, ready and willing to help you reach what ever goal you set. This is an awesome gym. It has all the equipment needed for any kind of workout and for any fitness goal - strongman to cross training, sports specific to just looking better naked (my goal).I learned how to do bunch of things I had never even considered before and I had a ton of fun in the process. All the trainers are knowledgeable, experienced and helpful. The members are also super friendly and supportive. The entire gym was cheering me on and giving helpful tips the first time I picked up an Atlas stone. I agree with the other reviewers that the trainers are exceptional. Always prepared with a thoughtful and thorough workout, enthusiastic and friendly, and with an incredible depth of knowledge and dedication. When I first heard of this new gym opening up In Newbury Park I thought to myself "great another cookie cutter gym in thousand oaks." But I figured, what the heck...I'll check it out anyway. And I am soo glad I did, because the training hall is much more than a gym. With an array of unique and custom built workout equipment, coupled with friendly and knowledgeable trainers and staff, you really can't beat the training hall for value. Most crossfit/powerlifting type gyms around town would easily cost twice as much to join. Let me set something straight: I'm not a strong man. I'm very fit and I like to lift heavy things. But I'm a far cry from the world of strong men. When Shawn Couch, one of the best personal trainers in Southern California relocated to the Training Hall, I had to check it out. I'm so glad I did. For regular gym goers like me, the Training Hall is a completely different experience. Every piece of equipment is unlike anything you've ever worked with before. Things you push, things you lift, things you pull, things you grab and things you carry. It goes on and on. You'll test your body and test your strength in ways you never imagined. It was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking variety. And, you want to know what was really amazing? The enthusiasm in the gym.
