Sustainability: Our services intentionally keep in mind the environmental and societal impact it has on the wellbeing of our students, customers, and workers. To sustain the accessibility of our programming, our commitment is to ensure our ethics and economic decisions are driven by worker and community benefit.
We provide an accessible monthly on-demand subscription that supports BIPOC practitioners.
Our sliding scale pricing allows for students to pay what they can, and compensates our BIPOC practitioners for their services.
Social Justice: Everyday we get to do what we love, value each other's beingness, and work towards addressing the health inequities impacting our BIPOC communities with a systems-change approach. We provide community support to frontline justice warriors, educators, mental health providers, formerly incarcerated folks, homeless, people struggling with addiction, domestic violence, foster youth, and community members.

The Tree Yoga Cooperative Story
Rita, Jonié (aka J.Cole), Jana, and Jenni launched The Tree Yoga Cooperative in August of 2020 after years of teaching yoga and meditation throughout South Los Angeles. Their community leadership at The Tree South LA (nonprofit organization) united them to reimagine the ways we connect, heal, build and celebrate ourselves and community.
Meet the Business Owner: Jana J.
Jana Johnson is a 500-RYT with Yoga Alliance. She received her 200-hr yoga teaching certification from The Tree (formerly known as Green Tree Yoga & Meditation) and her 300-hr teaching certification with Melanin Yoga Project with Davina Davidson.
Rita Ortiz is a 30-year resident of south Los Angeles Mexican born & Raised in Los Angeles this military veteran found her zen thru the practice of yoga.
Jennifer Alvarez received her Master of Public Health, in the Urban Health Disparities program at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. She is a health equity advocate with an extended experience in community organizing and program development.
Jonié Cole Thomas II is an author, philosopher, historian and computer engineer.His research lead him to the practice of Yoga and he wrote his 1st book on Self Responsibility called Sea of Circles.
