Essentially, I got six…read moremonths and during that time period, Beejay Brooks (my trainer) got me into pretty decent shape from a guy who looks like he's written 1620 Yelp reviews. Give that man a hand! That was some hard ass work. Speaking of work, Beejay had an excellent eye for determining whether you were at peak levels or whether you needed a day with a bit less intensity. He definitely gave a lot of attention to your macros and diet (far more than anyone I've worked with in the past). He's very no nonsense and that's probably not for everyone. If you aren't going to put in the hard work to manage your diet, you will fail and he will let you know it. But if you put in the work, you'd be very hard pressed to find a better trainer in San Antonio (I did work with some of the other trainers at Hasfit and I got to say they were all stellar). Overall, you are going to have to spend some coin (I was at just under $500/month) but when you start seeing the results of that spent money, you aren't going to miss it. You're going to be thankful for the transformative experience as you become fitter and healthier.

Small gyms to me feel cozy and comfortable like small little boxing gym or something. So if you like small compact gyms also, you would like this one as well. I don't come here often since it's not that close to where I live, but when I do it does the job. 3 ellipticals and a lot of those PreCore machines that are able to work out a few different areas of your body at once. Lots of free weights. That machine that allows you to do pull ups even if your too weak at the moment, by taking off some of the weight for you. Only issue is not much floor space for calisthenics. I was getting ready to sit down on the small seat to do some chest presses. Well, I slid right off the seat onto the floor. Geez, I was embarrassed. My jock act has been blown. The reason that it is packed is because it's the best gym in the area. The most I've ever had to wait for a machine is maybe 10 minutes. I will pay those 10 minutes to be able to go to this facility. The front desk personnel are fantastic. When they welcome you in, it isn't like some gyms where the comment is an afterthought, they really hope you have a good workout. Even though it is a new gym, they do a good job of keeping everything in good shape. The trainers are the best! They have a good variety of personalities so you should be able to find someone who can help you reach your goals. I've worked out with three and seen other trainers working with clients. I haven't taken any classes yet, but friends have said that the classes are really enjoyable. I have done a HIIT workout challenge, which was really needed to help me get out of a rut. He acted like that was totally normal, so I'm sure it's a habitual thing. When I let him know that it wasn't a good fit, he assumed it was the methodology (which I actually really liked) and didn't follow up to ask for feedback. ***UPDATE 3/30/15*** The owner called me to apologize a few days ago. In addition, he refunded my session fee. I honestly don't know that this trainer would change his iHabits, but I think the owner was sorry about the experience. It's exactly the vibe I look for in a gym: a classic, no bullsh**, weights clangin and bangin, full of people who are putting in genuine hard work. Immediately upon arrival a member helped us locate the owner, Roger, who got us set up with some day passes. That alone blew me away because out here, anyone would have just let us look around lost. I'm getting really bad with names but if she's reading this I want her to know she's so appreciated. Roger was also awesome. He checked in on us once we were settled, chatted with us about what we were doing in San Antonio, and gave us recommendations for surrounding neighborhoods (we were there to check out homes for potentially moving). I always appreciate gym owners who take the time to get to know the people working out with them. It gives you that level of connection you miss out on with commercial gyms. The gym itself is not your fancy commercial gym. It's the same gym it has been the whole time with classic machines, dumbbells, racks, etc. There's plenty of room for a decent amount of people to be there at the same time and still get a great workout in. I'm telling you, if you're in San Antonio, and you want a place where you can put in genuine hard word, go to Joe's. Coming to this gym was hands down one of the best parts of our trip to Texas and I am so excited to go back!
