Our floors are engineered pecan. The actual wood measures about a quarter inch. Because of this, the work was challenging. Randall explained his entire process to us before the work began. He and Mickey paid attention to every detail from start to finish. Plastic was put up around the sanding areas to limit the dust getting into other parts of the house. A special vacuum was used during the sanding process to keep the area as dust-free as possible. Then the floors were coated twice with a low luster, water-based product and we love the finish better than the shiny floor we had prior. The finished floors are beautiful and make the whole house look like new. I highly recommend Kevin Smith Flooring to refinish your hardwood floors. One of the reasons we chose this company is because floors are all they do. They are knowledgeable about everything hardwood floors. Their work is high quality with reasonable pricing. Recently had Randy Warner from Warner refinishing come in to refinish my hardwood floors and…read morestairs. What a mistake. I wanted to hire someone so that my floors were done properly and professional. However the job he did was far from what I expected especially with the almost 2 thousand dollar price tag on the job. The end result of his professional job left me with spots all over my floor, bristles from brushes stuck into the clear coat along with dirt and sawdust. The stair treads he did were extremely light and I had asked multiple times if he could darken them up, that request was completely ignored. He told me there might be a few spots of stain he would get on the white part of my stair risers... not a big deal, I would say it was to be expected, however a few spots turned into a complete free hand job with zero masking tape used... I had stain and clear ran everywhere on my walls, steps, trim and other places....to the point where it had looked like diy job gone horribly wrong. Along with all of that I had new tile installed about a week before he did this job, it had a metal bronze trim edge around it located at the front door... he managed to sand the bronze off by running his sander into it. At the end of all this, when I pointed the problem areas out with the floor I was told I was being a little excessive... and that he could not do anything about it. (Keep in mind at that point I was only trying to have him make the steps darker and fix the spots in the floor. This was not even getting into all the other problems such as the stain on the walls and stairs, the dirt and all the bristles embedded into the clear coat) even still he was completely unhelpful and ignorant. When I brought up about the price of the job he responded back with....this should have been more.... almost like he did me a favor and didn't add on to his original estimate to completely mess up the entire job with all these issues. Long story short, I should have went somewhere else. I'm not one to fire off on the internet with stuff like this however, i wanted to write this review in hopes that someone else will not make the same mistake I did by using this guy and wasting you're money.
