I love when servers give you the real honest opinion and help you avoid disappointment in your meal. She gave some delicious recommendations between the meals we were debating on. I had the beef dip sandwich, added caramelized onions, mushrooms, and Swiss cheese. The au jus was delicious and you could tell it was homemade. I paired it with a Cesar salad which was also really yummy with some house made dressing. Overall I would definitely come back to this place again. I give this place 3 stars because their crispy onion rings that came with the steak sandwich were delicious and extra crispy one of the best onion rings I've had. Their Caesar salad was also great perfectly dressed with a flavourful Caesar dressing and shaved parm. I was very impressed with their crispy onion rings and their Caesar salad so I was happy I was still full. My husband ordered the Philly cheese steak with an Au jus dip - it was 8/10 the dip definitely made it better! Drinks, great. Time to place order, decent. Wait to receive our order? Fifty five (55) minutes. I totally get the wait if the kitchen is busy, but this was not the case. The table behind us (who were there before we arrived) had to ask where their food was. Our Server had ditched her mask well before she delivered our food and didn't wear one for the rest of our visit. Lucky we didn't walk out in this day and age of CoVid. Food was both a blessing and a curse. The steak was done beautifully, the Monster burger, cooked to a perfect 'medium' (not sure if this was the cooks intention, some Canadians would have called the burger 'rare or underdone' and sent it back, but not us!) and the burger was dripping with bbq sauce (each patty seemed to be dipped in sauce). After 2 bites Hubs had to take a knife and fork to it. Not complaining about the size, it was just sloppily put together, without care. The fries, raw and flaccid. Sent back one order (I wasn't going to bother sending mine back even though I should have) and the second order came out the exact same way. We didn't eat any of the 3 orders of fries. Our Server gave us a 'staff discount' off the burger which was $2.85. SMH. Also, why are you serving chicken gravy with the steak sandwich or the aforementioned beef burger? Tons of character, great music, friendly-ish staff, tons of specials (can't really keep track) and the bathrooms were NOT pretty. Looking forward to when you get more established. I walked into the national and they requested an outside seat because it was a beautiful day. The female staff member identified my canine as a female and asked what was her name. I stated Yep he is a male and his name is Goliath.. From that point on, I was treated with severe aggression and hostility by the staff members The waitress that approached my table was hostile in nature and when I explained to her that I wanted a regular Caesar if they made one, I would love one she was offended. I explained that a lot of places have a house style Caesar and I was looking for a normal style Caesar, and if they provided it complete aggression and attitude in her tone and how she addressed me. she then performs the worst duty of all, which is falsifying a report to a police officer. She had her superiors, called the police and stated that I threatened her with my service dog. There is no action on this of me, threatening her. There is no threat to her there is no hostility, and I recorded the whole thing with my glasses . Big shout out to Ray and Maia, with these glasses, I was able to prove my case and clearly clarify any questions at the Police we're having in regards to the accusation. Seven police officers showed up at my table after I had enjoyed a Caesar and was joyfully offered another by the mail manager. The table beside me was having a great conversation with me. They were a family from the US who were coming to Canada, and I was explaining to them the wonderful things I could see such as the Calgary stampede that was coming up. I explained and showed off of metal. My dog was given by a paramedic for the great service that he provides, and we were having a wonderful conversation before the police showed up. I own a service animal training company and promote my business through word-of-mouth . !
