UPS is scum, in a "Minnesota Nice" kind of way. Top line: UPS destroyed my bike-specific secure shipping container, resulting in the loss of hundreds of dollars in bicycling gear (shoes, pedals, electronics). For three months, UPS has strung me along for "more pictures, more data, more stuff". Now, UPS Capital has refused to reimiburse me for these losses, with the excuse that it was improperly packaged. They have resorted to throwing under the bus the really nice people at the Edina store. UPS Capital has shown itself to be incompetent, tone deaf, dismissive of their customers, and generally disgusting. In August, I took my road bicycle, a rather nice titanium frame endurance bike, to Minneapolis to ride in a local fundraiser for a children's foundation. I purchased a bike-specific shipping container from an outfit called BikeShip. The box, a multi-use heavy cardboard affair, had very specific instructions on how to safely and securely ship one's bike and all the attendant equipment and gear. I checked it as luggage from DFW to MSP. Rode the ride, ate the barbecue, etc. The next day, I repacked the bike and took it to the UPS store in Edina. My firm has a large contract with UPS, and my office assured me I could just use the UPS account number to ship it back. As the Brits say, "things were about to go very, very wrong indeed." First, no joy on the account number. Apparently UPS account numbers are only useful at UPS, not at "UPS Stores". OK, this is what corporate credit cards are for. After carefully re-packing the bike according to the specifications, and inserting extra gear in all the spots that the instructions suggested, we "shook it really hard" to be sure it was shipping-worthy, and I went on my way to Chicago and Rapid City. Oh, and I paid $543.59 to ship the bike back to Texas. I returned to Texas and to the office to where the bike was shipped, and discovered the container upside down in the conference room, pretty well shredded. The sides had come apart, the bottom cover was torn in pieces, and the contents were basically open to the elements. UPS Operations had basically done a number on the bike-specific shipping container. While the things still inside were intact - including the bike - a number of items had escaped the box when it was opened, and were no longer present. One pedal, one bike shoe, both headlight and taillight, and the all-important bike computer. Along with the multi-use box being rendered unusable, this amounted to between $800 and $1200 in losses. The team at The UPS Store in Edina was quite helpful in helping me document and estimate the loss, and passed on the claim to UPS. I figured this would be a slam dunk. Enter UPS Capital, what is apparently the insurance claim processing arm of UPS. (This is where an audience at a Japanese noh play would hiss and howl.) These folks are scum. SCUM, I say! And did I mention that they're stupid? First it was a request for all kinds of photos of the shipping container, and a description of what happened. I played along. I was sure this was going to be quickly resolved, as it was so straightforward; I dropped it off, they lost it, reimburse me. Then it was, well, we need MORE pictures, and do you have the box, and where's the shipping label, and please send us the photos of the bike in box when it was opened, etc. Several rounds of this were played out over the ensuing weeks and months. In November, they said they had to deny the claim since they were not able to inspect the actual shipping container. I offered to bring it to them - name the spot (My office had for some reason preserved the box.) The Edina store checked in, asking how the claim was progressing. I lamented that it was not going well, and I might have to resort to a Yelp campaign to get attention on the matter. They offered to weigh in on my behalf, and apparently a district manager engaged in some advocacy. To no avail. UPS Capital's correspondence process is cumbersome to say the least, and designed to be punitive at worst. At least three different names have come up in the emails and messages on the claims portal. Grammar is an afterthought. I have posted at least two dozen photos on their site. This seems to be a rear-guard delay action on their part, to force one into performative compliance with their process in the vain hope that they will honor the claim and back their service. Not so. As of today, UPS Capital has denied my claim for the hilarious reason that "it was not properly packaged." They go on to mention void area packing, proper positioning, etc. The main message that comes through is that they have paid zero attention to the initial claim, that they LOST ITEMS BY TEARING THE BOX OPEN. The guidance on packing is completely focused on potential DAMAGE to the contents. The real risk is that UPS's negligent handling of the package will destroy it, and anything packed inside disappears into the wilds of the UPS transport network. Stay tuned. read more

I go to the store about once a week. All employees are family and friends; great service and care. They go out of their way to help out. Very friendly and efficient. All my packages have been received and delivered without issues. read more

This UPS store is the closest one to me so I go here quite frequently. Each time I visit, it's usually for an online return with a pre-paid label. This fact aside, the UPS store is always clean, quiet, and not crowded. There's never more than a person ahead of me in line which is great. Not only that but the manager and his employees are always very kind and personable. I've never had a bad experience here with any of the workers. They take care of my returns with a breeze and the most important part : the packages always get to their destination. That's all that matters in the end! Thanks so much for your quick service and attention to detail. Thanks for spending so much time patiently trouble shooting why my return label wasn't working one time. And lastly, thanks for being the best neighborhood UPS store around! I'll always be back for as long as I live in the area. read more

I have come to this UPS store several times for different needs including shipping items, returning Amazon packages, and general postage. Knowing that this is a small business I always try to show support and I appreciate that they are consistent, friendly, and open when they say they will be open. I frequented this UPS location quite often for the last two years for different things: returns, sending packages and letters, printing, and notarizations. Did I always receive stellar customer service? No, but it was consistent, and it's so close to my house, I could practically walk there. That was until about two weeks ago when I called on a Friday evening to ask if the owner, who is the notary, would be in on Saturday. The employee who answered said no, and that he would be out all next week. I started to ask if he would be there that evening, but he disconnected the call. Like I said, it's very close for me. I had plans with some friends starting in 15 minutes but I had a document I urgently needed notarized, and some packages to return while I was at it. I arrived about five minutes later at the store and asked to have my document notarized and return my packages. The owner asked me, "Were you the lady who just called? I'm in a hurry and you hung up before he could tell you I was leaving." The thing is that I didn't hang up. He hung up on me, but it probably doesn't look good to say that to your boss, and I'm not one to get anyone in trouble, so I went with it. However, the owner was very abrasive and kept telling me to hurry it up, which made me flustered and mess up my paperwork. I finally had to raise my voice and tell him that I was in a hurry, too. I had no need to go back for a couple of weeks, but I decided to give the store another try, so I went in yesterday. Same thing, I needed something notarized and two returns. It was the owner and the same employee sitting next to each other at the counter. I announced that I had two packages and needed a notary. The owner got up and said he was going to lunch because it was getting late. I asked the employee helping me if it would be possible to get the notary, and he said, "Normally his ears perk up when he hears notary." He did nothing to call his boss back over. He obviously is afraid of his boss. I can tell when my business isn't wanted. I'll find a new place to send packages and get my documents notarized. I never felt this way at the Plymouth location when I lived closer to that one. read more

I needed to return some equipment to Charter cable service for my mother. Charter had assured us we could bring it into any UPS Store and they would take care of it. Well... I went to the UPS Store on France and they told me they couldn't help and I'd have to go to a UPS hub. I was annoyed and dissapointed, but I tried this UPS Store on my way home. Just in case... Raja helped me and had no problem processing the return! He apologized a couple time for his slow service, but he was NOT slow. Besides, he did what the other guy said was impossible!!! I highly recommend this UPS Store. And I would trust Raja with all of my shipping needs! read more

This is for UPS in general. They lost my package and their customer service is abysmal. No way to talk to a live person. No communcation or response to email. Issue has been logged and is pending for over 2 weeks with no updates, or refunds. Package was initially delivered to wrong address. read more

if you have to send a package, do not do it with this ups store! i called and asked to cancel a package i had taken in on saturday. the owner, raja, was extremely rude and beligerant over the phone and even hung up on me before i could explain what i needed. his claim later was that he "had too many customers at the time" - as if that gave him the right to treat me in such a surly and disgraceful manner. in response to this behavior, i promptly drove to the location to rectify the matter. when i got to the store to request that my shippment be canceled he told me i had not sent the package at his store. luckily the employee who helped me on saturday was there to help me and return my package to me. raja seemed to feel that ignoring my needs as a paying customer, hanging up on me, and talking over me when i tried to explain my sittuation, is an appropriate way to conduct buisness. he even taunted me and told me there was no one i could report him to because he owns the buisness and reports to no one. well he does report to someone at that is the customers. do not ship your package at this store! it is clear that he does not value his customers - and since that is clearly the case - perhaps potential customers should not patronize his business, and support another business who appreciates their customers and provides customer service commensurate to that attitude. read more

Charged FOUR times the post office rate. They wanted $13.99 to ship a 7 ounce envelope package to CA. I was told CA was "a long way away." This was 6 days mail time. Criminal! I'll make the drive to Edina post office. read more

I mailed a television to myself in Los Angeles from this store. It cost me $91 with the insurance to mail it. It was my father's TV and he had it professionally packed by a home theater company that originally sold him the TV. Kandiah, the owner of the store, was incredibly slow, out to lunch, didn't know what he was doing and patronizing to boot. I purchased the insurance because I had a feeling something could go wrong with the shipment and he told me that he would take care to make sure that it was marked "fragile" and that if anything didn't seem right about the packaging he would take care of it. It arrived to me a week later and "looked" okay when I opened it, but when I plugged it in a couple days later, it had spider / cobweb type scratches all over it and there was no picture, just scratches filled with color plasma. Ruined. Thinking it looked okay when I first got it, I had thrown all the packaging away, though I wasn't even aware that I was supposed to keep the packaging. I called to file a claim and was told that I should have kept the packaging and that they would be unable to do an inspection since I hadn't kept the packaging but would file the claim anyway. I was to call the store from where I shipped it two days later to get the results of the claim. Of course when I called this UPS store two days later, Kandiah got on the phone and gleefully explained to me that the claim was denied because I hadn't saved the packaging. After explaining that I wanted to file an appeal, Kandiah flat out refused to appeal it on my behalf because "this was your fault, you didn't package the TV well and you signed a paper saying you accept responsibility!" Kandiah and I got into a raging argument about this and to my shock he raised his voice, yelled at me and tried to blame this on me and flat out refused to file the appeal, which I, having paid for the insurance, had a right to file (the regulation is that the store has to file it on your behalf). Kandiah's behavior is downright rude and I feel like I have been swindled out of a very expensive TV and the cost of shipping. Stay far away from this terribly run store. read more
