What. A. Nightmare. Needed to ship a job application with a DVD to Hong Kong. The worker was well-meaning, but had no idea how to ship something internationally. He had me come behind the desk to fill out the address on his computer. Fine. Pay my money, leave the store. I find out two days later that they didn't include the customs form and that my application never left Seattle. I've been on the phone with UPS 5 times this morning, had to fill out an Excel sheet myself and send it back to them. This is especially infuriating given the fact I used to work in the shipping industry in a similar (privately-owned) business. Bottom line: do not go here. There are wonderful shipping store in Ballard that are worth the commute/drive if you have the time. Only upside? I'm (hopefully) getting my money back on the shipping charges. read more

I've always had a good experience here. Granted I only go in pretty much once a year at xmas time - but especially then i expect the staff to be very harried and stressed. instead, they have always been calm, relaxed and real. my packages have always gotten delivered without any hassle and for less than i expected. the staff is great - maybe due to good management? anyway - thanks ups staff for always coming through! read more

Friendly, quick and easy spot to drop off a pre labeled package in Capital Hill. And there is parking!

I shipped packages to this UPS store several times and each time it seemed like I was being an annoyance for them when they would look for my packages. One of the employees even told me "We don't get anything for holding on to your package", after not being able to find it the first time around (and then after a little more digging finding it). Considering its a UPS Store, you'd expect to be able to have a package shipped here and retrieve it no problem. I'd suggest going to the UPS store about a mile north on broadway. read more

I do a lot of my professional copying of my art work at this store. I have done this for years at this location. Usually I go in there when Jim, the manager is not there so I do not have to deal with him. Jim is one of the worst unprofessional managers that I have ever seen in all my years. I seriously do not know how he keeps his job at the store. He is an insult to the ups stores. His lack of professionalism and class put him into a worthless human being. I've never submitted one of these but I think it's important enough to voice my experience. May I put negative 1 Star? Jim will take advantage of any opportunity to make an extra buck off you, as well as finding some way to make your experience miserable. He is by far one of the rudest people I've ever encountered, not to mention he is a flat out liar and a fraud. Having endured Jim in the past, I nervously used the store to have a document notarized merely because it's nearby. I've only used a Notary once before back in the early 80s mind you, which I mentioned to Jim. He then quoted $10.00 for the 2-minute service. I stated that I would run to my bank to see if they could do it cheaper, at which point he straight up told me, looking me directly in the eyes, "Banks haven't notarized documents since 1987", in his condescending voice, then insulted my handwriting because he couldn't read an unrelated note near my paperwork. I lodged a complaint with UPS but of course they can do nothing about it, so I'm seriously considering contacting the BBB (which surprising doesn't have page after page of complaints on this guy). I will never walk through those doors again, and only urge others to be very, very cautious when dealing with this wicked, wicked soul. read more

Shining example of bad customer service. Before today, I had only used this facility for the self-print services and had little interaction with the staff. However, every single time I was there, I watched the manager (Jim) be incredibly rude to either an employee, a customer or both. I had hoped he was just having a bad week and prayed I didn't ever have to deal with him face to face (not a great first impression on potential repeat customers). Today I had the unfortunate luck of dealing with Jim directly. I could write a book on the incredulous amount of unprofessional behavior exhibited my this man. Instead I'll just list some adjectives describing his attitude: entitled, condescending, chauvinistic, abrasive and downright rude. I cannot fathom how a person who lacks any semblance of social graces could rise to a managerial position. His employees are clearly miserable. I will gladly travel out of my way to a post office or FedEx from this day forward. If UPS can allow a person like that to be in a position of authority, they have lost my business. read more

You can file a complaint with UPS. I'm a pharmaceutical rep and use this store often to ship and print for work. The staff are always very helpful. The owner over the last two years has always been horrible. Today he refused to notarize for me saying he was too busy. There was no line and other people on staff there. I went next door to by something and came back to get the store number so I could file a complaint. Still no line. He was just too lazy to want to notarize. After multiple negative experiences with him over the last two years I'm finally writing a review and calling in a complaint to the UPS store home office. read more

The guy who has run this place for ages lectured me today on the fact that it's "A UPS Drop Off store" not a store actually run by UPS. Thus if you come in and ask for a piece of scotch tape to tape the label you printed at home to the box, you'll get a lecture which includes the admonition that "next time you'll be charge a $2 fee." This guy has been argumentative with me in the past, arguing about the box I was returning something in (the same box it came by UPS in) as well as lecturing me that errors made were made by his staff who are new and so...not sure what the point was of that lecture. I literally said to my son when I walked in the door "ugh, this guy always finds some reason to argue" and sure enough, he did. The only benefit of this place is parking. read more

One star is too many. I have previously only used this place to drop off prepaid packages but thought it would be convenient to ship as I was going to QFC anyway. When I was told the cost - $77 - I said no thanks and they should confirm cost prior to finalizing the purchase. The old man walking past said they've shipped at least $5,000 worth of gifts thus far and not one person has even mentioned that. Whether or not that's true, WRONG ANSWER. Why be so petty to argue with a customer over something that's simple to do and basic customer service? Plus USPS down Broadway beat their price by $27 for the same service. Why ship UPS for a lot more $$ AND deal with rude employees? There are much better options for shipping in Capitol Hill. read more

I'm fairly certain this is an experiment in how to fail in business. Called for a shipping estimate prepared with dimensions, weight, and destination and got sarcasm and indifference. The call lasted less than two minutes I barely got any info out before the person who answered pulled a number out of thin air (didn't even know where I was sending it) and more or less hung up on me. Ballard Sip & Ship and Queen Anne Dispatch are across town but efficient and pleasant. I wouldn't recommend buying so much as a stamp from this UPS store. read more

I never write yelp reviews but I have had so many unpleasant experiences here I feel I owe it to my fellow consumers. The older gentleman who is the manager is very rude. Every time I go in there to send a package he acts annoyed that he has to help me. This guy clearly hates his job and has no problem taking it out on the customer. He is especially rude if you are trying to make an Amazon return. He is clearly pissed that customers do not pay for Amazon return deliveries even though this was an arrangement made by his employer and Amazon, not us customers. We dread going to this store to send packages because this guy always makes us feel like crap. There are so many people out there who don't have jobs who would be glad to help customers for a pay check. And it's not like you can talk to the manager about it. He IS the manager. Okay, normally I'd never write a review about a UPS store. They're typically pretty nondescript, and with more convenient hours than USPS, I give them my business now and then. But this store. Christ. First off, the owner, Jim, is an asshole. Straight up. Every time I know I have to go here, I cringe and have a moment of panic while prepping myself for the antipathy that is about to be thrown my way. When I lived in the CD, it was a trip to go here, but now I live only a four minute walk away and will go out of my way to walk to the north Broadway location or actually drive to the downtown UPS store rather than giving this place my money. There's always a comment about how poorly something is packaged, how much time I'm wasting, how slow I'm being, how ridiculous it is that I don't want to be charged for something unnecessary. The turnover rate in employees is insane, too...I never see the same face more than twice, and even then that's pretty rare. I feel like this entire store would breathe a huge sigh of relief if the owner had a hands off role, but he's a fucking vulture hovering over shoulders and breathing down necks, both literally and figuratively. Screw going here. I'm taking a vow to always find a way to give the UPS up the street my business. read more

DON'T SHIP FROM THIS STORE! This UPS store has quite possibly the most unpleasant and unhelpful staff. I shipped a package (worth over $300!) to a friend internationally and after a month of her still not receiving it, went in to the store to see if they could help track the package for me and whomever was working responded with a straight up "no, it's not possible to track, it's probably held up in customs'. So incredibly rude. It's not as though they were busy either, as I was the only person in the store. Needless to say I won't be pleasant or kind if I ever have to go in there again (god forbid). read more

But I have never gone in there without getting criticized or ordered around if the manager is there by the manager. It's always something. My first trip: I had prepaid label for a package and there was a line and I said I was dropping it off and he barked at me that I should wait in line. My most recent trip: he was in the back and no one was up front and I said hello is anybody here and when he saw it was prepaid he said next time you can just drop it off without telling anybody. And every other time some sort of weird thing. (taping it wrong, you name it.) Everybody else seems nice. He seems to have this emotional needs to find something every time and there's nobody above him to complain to! Hopefully he reads this and takes it in, but I've never seen so many negative reviews about a shipping store so I kind of doubt it. Probably needs therapy? Could be a good movie idea. read more

I tried to go get the Women's March template postcards printed from a USB drive. I had just started explaining to the person helping me what I wanted to do, and an older man (Jim) dropped the customer he was helping, bolted over, and says to the employee "I will take care of this." He turns to me and says, "We don't really do postcards here. It involves card stock and cutting and we don't like to do that. You need to find somewhere else to print those." I didn't want to jump to conclusions that he was denying me service because they were protest postcards, so had my friend call to ask if they printed postcards at that location. She was told "Postcards just don't print well here." I no longer feel like I am jumping to conclusions. I will never use this location again. Had them printed at a local shop (Perfect Copy & Print on Broadway) instead and they came out great. read more

This UPS should be bustling located in a busy shopping plaza, but it's not. I've been charged just to "package" a box which meant taping it up and sticking the printed shipping label on it. I've also been charged a fee for sending a return to Amazon that was free shipping. Lastly, the manager consistently nosy his way into every transaction I've had with other employees! He always has something to say so it's never a quick in and out, but more like a visit with your dentist who might lecture you to floss more! So instead of dreading another drop off with them my husband and I decided to drive to lower Queen Anne UPS and what a difference in service and attitude! I have been in several times over the past few months and I have been really impressed by the customer service here, and I had such exemplary customer service here yesterday that I am writing this....because who ever gets good customer service at copy and print shops? It's as if they know you have other things to do, and they help you take care of business and get it done as fast as possible, and it's the first time I have ever had that experience at such a place. Because of the friendly staff, great location, and convenient parking, I always use this UPS location when I have to ship. I've visited this location a number of times over the past year and have always been met with friendly help, which I NEED. Another plus, I've never had trouble finding parking in the lot. As a shipping novice, I usually need all the help I can get. Jon has helped me on multiple occasions and has always had fast and friendly service. This place is horrible. First time I tried picking up a package, they couldn't find it. When they did, their systems wouldn't work. I finally got my package and felt they deserved another shot. Well I gave it to them and they blew it. To be fair it wasn't entirely their fault but the attitude of the store manager is what got me. He was a self absorbed, arrogant, idiot. He wouldn't help me figure out where my package got sent to...he absolved himself claiming that they were only a franchise store and couldn't do anything. I'm sorry but when you wear the name of a company and the store has their logo outside as the store sign, yeah you better show some customer service and help people. He didn't look up my package on their system (what he did was tried to google it on his iphone). He brought into the back and gave me a attitude saying, "Here is F, G, H, I...look, no package." I have been in various customer service positions all my life and for a store manager to have that kinda of an attitude is completely unheard of. To be completely honest he should be fired and someone with a true customer service attitude should be put in his place. He is the prime example why I prefer FedEx over UPS. Every time I go into a FedEx store, the employees are professional and courteous. This store could learn lot from them. read more

Terrible customer service and expensive cost. I went there to get a package delivered internationally as I didn't trust the normal post office to handle it. How mistaken I was. The owner/manager offered me between 2 options based on price and speed of delivery. I chose the cheapest one ($98) because a 10 business days delivery time was good enough for me It was totally my fault as I didn't pay more attention to what it entailed but they actually charged me to just pass my package to USPS... When the package didn't arrive 2 weeks later to my friend I checked the paper and realized I had a USPS tracking number which I entered on web site. Only information I ever got from that site was that it had left the local distribution center the next day of my hand off. To make story short after 2 months, multiple phone calls to USPS and international case numbers etc. the package was returned to me saying that they attempted to deliver and no one claimed it (my friend who lives in a 24h concierge building never got any notification). Looking at the package I noticed that USPS charged only $68 for the delivery so if I had been to them directly for the same bad service I didn't trust it would at least had been 30% cheaper and I probably would have been able to better select which options I wanted (certified, Guaranteed, insurance, etc.) Anyway I went back to the UPS store to get reimbursed since the service I paid for was not provided but the manager refused saying that according to the delivery service they attempted the delivery. (as if they would admit they're at fault...) Quite a change compared to a lot of stores that would reimburse you no question ask if you're not satisfied with buying something from them even if package is opened and you might have it used (clothes, electronics). However he offered to give me the credit of the fee charged toward a new delivery attempt I would have to pay for again. As you can guess the credit was for $68 only based on what was on the box and not the $98 as per the receipt I still had... Having talked to friends in-between who had shared experiences of UPS bad service for international deliveries (I wish I had thought about checking reviews/asking friends before) I told him I was going to use FedEx which my friends are very satisfied with. I will never use UPS again even for domestic deliveries and encourage everyone to look for alternatives as well. FedEx shipping offices are everywhere (their own shops, Office Depot, Office Max, etc.), the one I ended up using although they're unfortunately closing very soon is the Office Max near Broadway and John St but there are others close by (12th and Pike for example) read more

This place has the nastiest sexist manager, his name is Jim. He saw me struggle with three large boxes, after walking up the two flights of stairs to get to the store, coming in and rather than offer to help he asked me to shut the door on his open cabinet. I had a packing slip for one of my boxes (the heaviest one) which was for a scheduled pick up, he told me to take it home cancel the return and resend a return label then bring it back another day. I was like, "I'm a small woman I can't lift this box again can you help me figure it out." He told me I was rude and he would "86" me from the store, he threatened me three times until I reminded him that he makes commission off each package he ships and asked to work with someone else. The young lady was able to process all three of my packages and get them on the counter but this awful man interrupted and gave me attitude several times. Being an old white man does not make it ok to speak over people, be lazy, unhelpful or rude. Don't ship packages here, turns out Jim is the owner of this place. read more

I'm only giving this place two stars because everyone that works there besides Jim is very helpful. I buy a lot of stuff online and with that inevitably comes returns which are mostly prepaid by the retailer. Every time I go there I am treated incredibly well except when Jim is there. The last time I was there was a Sunday at noon. A bunch of us were waiting for the store to open but I was there first. When I went up to the counter Jim said I had to tape a small hole in one of the packages, handed me an empty tape dispenser and told me to get out of line. I didn't realize that there was no tape and had to get back in line, wait 10 minutes while he waited on the rest of the customers and then ask for more tape. I've been to the store many times with multiple packages and the employees have offered to tape my packages and labels. Whenever Jim is there he always has something negative to say and I cringe when I see him. If he's not being condescending to the person in front of you he's being a jerk to an employee and you will be next. He does not represent UPS well and I wonder if they even care? It's unfortunate because this UPS has parking and the one at the other end of Broadway does not. It's the only reason I keep going there. read more

Never again. I only came to this one because my Queen Anne UPS is closed on Sundays. Jim, the manager, really needs to learn some customer service. I brought in an espresso machine that I needed to ship out, along with some items to go with it (frothing cup, tamper, etc.). I had in in a box from home so it was easier to carry. As soon as I set it on the counter, before I had a chance to say anything, he says to me: "I can't ship it like this", looking at me like I was crazy. And I say, "I know that, do you not have shipping supplies here?" That IS what they do at UPS, right?? He was extremely rude right off the bat and throughout my entire time there. I gave him no reason to be angry or annoyed. After that, he asked me what I wanted to buy. And I'm like, "Uhhh I don't know, whatever it takes to pack it correctly?" I'm no expert at packing boxes to ship across the US, but I'd like to think that managers of UPS stores are. Terrible experience, I will not be back. And judging by the other reviews, it looks like I'm not alone. read more
