Shipped a package worth $1300 via this store to Philadelphia. They package was lost upon arriving in Philadelphia (most likely a UPS employee stole it due to the contents of the package). This one star rating is not due to the lost package- that is an issue with the employees in Philadelphia. This low rating is due to the lack of care and a month worth of time that this store wasted by not doing their job and not caring that they lost such an important package. (Package lost 2/13/2018, its 3/21/2018 and I'm still weeks away from it being resolved) I was told I needed to provide the store with the contents of the package and the value which I promptly did. They were supposed to forward to corporate to start a claim AND THEY NEVER DID. Corporate closed the file as they never got the information. Had to reopen a claim with corporate, did a few more steps with the corporate office and then it was back in the hands of this store. Two weeks later and the store still hasn't done anything. I called and got the runaround AGAIN that Manager Jim was working on it but he wasn't in until 3pm but that he would call me. 5pm came by and I went down to the store personally. Jim told me he had never gotten the message to call me, and that someone else was responsible for my claim. I have gotten the runaround every single time I've contacted this store, they do not do their jobs and they pass the blame to whoever isn't at the store so they don't have to take responsibility for anything. I am BEYOND frustrated already that I am without my package, and not only that, they are only going to cover $100 of my $1300 package. But to have the store not care AT ALL about helping me is even more frustrating. I will NEVER ship UPS again. This store also never informed us that unless we claim it they won't cover above $100. Please take your business elsewhere! The manager is extremely rude, condescending, and unhelpful. Even months later I still think about the horrible experience I had, so much so that I felt I needed to leave this review to warn others. I've never been talked to in such a rude way. I tried to open a mailbox so I could give out a separate address for work related purposes (just for the privacy). He refused to show me pricing for the smaller mailboxes when I asked, claiming I'd receive too much mail and he'd be "stuck sorting it". He treated me like an idiot. The owner of my company has a smaller mailbox than the one he tried to sell to me! I ended up walking out and had a MUCH better experience at the U Village location. This is a great location and a terrific store but whoever decided to install the parking system is a dolt. Being able to come in and shop for 30 minutes of free parking was great. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE! As many other reviewers have noted, Jim, the owner or manager of this store; is rude and condescending. I've sent packages from this location for many, many years and every interaction with Jim is difficult. The other employees are always friendly and professional, but Jim acts like he hates his job and people. His tone is belittling to both customers and his employees. My family sent a package to me c/o this store and none of us knew we first needed permission from Jim to have something sent from one UPS store to another. In order to get the package, I had to sign a piece of paper and pay $5. When I inquired why I was being charged a fee on top of what was paid to ship the package, rather than just saying it's a service fee (which makes complete sense), Jim provided a snarky response that "medical care isn't free" and he went on and on. His response could have been professional, but Jim preferred to take the low road and be rude. He apologized when I called him out, then opted to continue to chastise me AGAIN for something that neither the shipping UPS store nor I were aware needed to be done. When I called him to discuss my experience, he asked what I did for a living (hardly relevant), then he continued to berate me for not first asking permission. Nice customer service there, Jim. Jim behaves like a man who doesn't like his job and doesn't like working with the public. Do Jim a favor and take your business to another UPS location. Jim doesn't want to have to deal with you. The one star is because most the employees are pretty friendly. The owner/manager Jim is the worst person on Earth. It would be less stressful to physically walk your package to where it needs to be. ALSO - The website says that they notarize; call first and ask since sometimes Jim doesn't feel like doing it that day. The owner of this store was so incredibly rude. I went in just to print something. You have to pay a flat 2$ if you breathe next to one of the computers in the store, and since I was just sending a file to the printer I mentioned that I thought the charge was kind of silly. I said it conversationally, not expecting to get out of the charge--most of the time the people who work in these soulless corporate pits don't get any say in what the fees are. But this guy went OFF on me, snarling about how he can't make his rent. Why? Why is that even pertinent? He glared at me like it was my fault, even as I was paying him! Why would you bitch at your customers about your own financial woes? Also, why would you charge me fifteen dollars for a print job that would have been seven at Perfect Copy & Print, up Broadway? Two points: 1. The owner, Jim, was a complete asshole (possibly racist against Asians?) 2. They clearly ripped me off by at least 50% on shipping charges. I went in with about 10 packages, waited in line, my turn comes up. Jim assists me, and about a minute in, he answers his phone, and leaves me waiting for a solid ten minutes. Yes, TEN minutes. On top of that, he would not answer half of my questions and be an ass about the ones he did answer. For example, when I asked what my shipping options were, he snarled (yes, his face just got so sour) and a quite audible growl before reluctantly slamming my package down on the scale to calculate the rates. Normally with such terrible customer service, I would leave. But given how I unloaded ten packages, I put up with it. At the end of it, the rates felt unusually high ( $20 to ship a 15x6x7 box by ground???). When I asked him about how much of a premium they charge, Jim gave me the evilest evil eye, and growled that there was absolutely no premium. When I got back home, I calculated the shipping charges myself, and lo and behold, to ship the 15x6x7 box, it would only cost $12. What the fuck? I have never been treated this rudely, or scammed this badly by a walk in store. I do NOT understand the positive reviews about this place. Either the owner was in a be-an-asshole mood day, or he hates Asians. And no, I was never ever rude, annoying, or unpleasant at any time to evict such a treatment from Jim. I'd give a 0 if possible because I didn't even get any help. I needed to print a PDF and the manager Jim said "it's not worth my time to print it. Use the 2$ computer or go to another store." The next closest store that was open was fedex almost a mile away. The UPS store was going to close in 15 but there wasn't a single person in the store and he said he had "plenty of projects." As I was leaving I was pretty mad since I had just walked a mile there and could've just taken a bus straight to fedex so I said "you're a terrible person" and I kid you not, he said "well you're a " and then the door shut as I walked out so I didn't hear him. I agree with the other reviewers regarding the condescending attitude and unpleasant demeanor of the owner. Today I took in a large box filled with air pillows for them to re-use. The gentleman who helped me was appreciative. The owner interrupted his transaction with other customers to chastise me regarding the box. He had not heard me tell the person I gave the box to that it was filled with air pillows and directed me to take the cardboard box to recycling! I have not been so appalled with service in a long time! I am assuming I had the pleasure of "working with" Jim, the man everyone is complaining about -- he was a white, balding man in his 30s ish? Well, whoever this guy was - he was a JERK. After waiting in line, it was finally my turn. I told him I was needing to buy some boxes and ship some stuff across the country to DC and was trying to ask for his help on this. He stared at me like I was a bumbling idiot, which made me probably bumble like an idiot. I finished asking for his help. Guy: --RUDELY -- "Okay." Me: Am I able to buy boxes to put the stuff in then send it?" Guy: --Still curt-- "Yeah." Me: ...May I please buy some boxes? Guy: --points to the back of the store-- "Just go pick out the sizes you need." (with a big serving of DUHHHH) Me: "Oh, okay, thanks -- sorry I'm not sure what all I'm supposed to do." I wander to the boxes -- but they are all just boxes on display -- I'm not sure if I'm supposed to grab them, memorize which size I want, or if I was missing where I was supposed to be to be getting these mysterious magical boxes. I keep looking back to see if he will help me -- nope. Eventually I just leave. It's impossible to describe how rude and irritated he was with me. I wasn't asking him to do my packing for me or even tell me what size boxes or how many I would need -- I just literally had no idea what I was supposed to do -- and he practically REFUSED to help me. I went to another service to ship my stuff -- they helped me with the entire process. I am so disappointed with this man at the UPS store. I ordered something overnight from Amazon and UPS took over a week to deliver it, after notifying me every day that it would be delivered that day. I finally gave up waiting and bought it locally, so I returned the order to Amazon. According to Amazon, a UPS driver was supposed to come by and either pick up the return or drop off a label, but that also never happened. After another week of waiting I brought it in to this UPS store to drop off the package, per Amazon's instructions. The store refused to print the label! They told me to go to the regional UPS center or to pay $2 to print the label myself. At this point I had wasted enough time so I just paid them and printed the label myself. I guess it was more important for them to get the $2 than help a customer that had waited over a week for a UPS "overnight" shipment and another week for a UPS driver to not show up for a pick up. read more

This place sucks a lot to be honest. I should warn you guys of 2 bad experiences that I have dealt with this place. 1. Me: can i return this here? (I was bringing a box with a usps label) JIM: no, (while pushing away my box towards me) this is UPS Me: well do you know where usps is? JIM: over there (while his finger pointing to random direction) 2. I was going out of state with an airplane then i realized that i want to pack my sound system at hone with ups. So i came to this ups store and i met a guy named JIM again! He told me that he can pack the sound system in 10 mins. Then, I PAID the amount of $45.00 with a young male guy. However, since it took Jim too long to pack, i decided to come back tomorrow and told the male guy and the male guy told Jim about that. THEN, I HEARD JIM TALKING TO THE GUY, "DID SHE PAY ALREADY?" I was definitely shock!!!! This guy is rude! But i then think whatever. A couple days later, i decided to come back with another computer to pack because I want to bring this to an airplane. This time was with Jon, he was nice and told me the details and stuff. I told him I need to pack my computer. So I decided to pay it upfront. The amount turned out to be $20! Voilaaa! I was being gullible by JIM!! Then I told Jon (the nice guy) that couple days ago I pack my stuff with Jim. I never thought I would have a go-to UPS store, and in fact I've never paid to mail anything via UPS, but as a dedicated Zappos shopper I end up doing free returns somewhat regularly, and this is my usual spot. It's located next to Marination on the roof level of QFC, which means there's always free parking available in the small lot - nice when you're hauling boxes! The store is clean and well maintained and I've never seen a line of more than one or two people, so you can get in and out quickly. Ehhh, maybe the staff aren't the friendliest, but they do the job and at least they aren't actively hostile like at the post office. They always get my boxes scanned and my shipping receipt quickly and efficiently. Recently I had them hold a Xmas delivery for a small fee ($5/box), and that worked out well - they had written my name on the boxes, knew exactly where they were, and got them immediately. Much better than other UPS pickups I've done at other locations. Overall, a quick and convenient shipping store to pop in, do your mailing stuff, and get out. Easy peasy! read more

Or, I thought I'd take it on the bus and drop it off down the street from my work. Orr, I could just set the f*cking thing on fire and be done with it! Decided to finally do something about it. No, not the fire. Even though I wanted to, I decided to google the closest drop-off location to my apartment that was open on a Saturday. Because I just love running errands on my days off. I would give this business four stars for their solid mailbox service over the years--were it not for the irritable pill who runs this place. Without the benefit of UPS brand recognition, the owner's inexcusable diet of rudeness and condescension toward customers and cowed (but otherwise courteous) employees would surely drive any other business into the ground. The good news: There are better places in town who will take a personal interest in your mailing needs. That's how bad this was for what should have been a quick 5 minute experience with minimal room for error on the UPS employees front. Me: Do you have any more of the resume paper in the left bin? The store employees, 3 very nice men in their 30's are always friendly and funny. However, the store manager (owner) is a pompous jerk who regularly yells at customers. In my three months of having a P.O. Box at this location, 3 of my packages have been lost - after the store has sent me email updates saying I have a package. When confronted with this information, the manager brought me into the back room for all of 3 seconds, and then asked, "DO YOU SEEEEEE YOUR PACKAGE?! I TOLD YOU WE DON'T HAVE IT!" Which totally ignored the point of my complaint, that he has seemingly given my packages (3 times on three different dates!) away to someone else. I will be taking my business elsewhere as soon as my P.O. Box expires. And I will miss the three super nice guys that staff this store. I had to ship some camera equipment from Seattle to Chicago for repair/cleaning. The value was high as I included my lenses as well. I was shocked at the price of $200 (2nd day air), but figured the cost was high due to insurance. When I called the camera place & we started talking about shipping back, the woman was floored at what I paid. She sent me info & I also did some homework (sadly, after the fact) & discovered that this place made $98+ dollars for shipping. I AM PISSED. While I understand every business marks things up - 2x as much for shipping?? I will NEVER go there again. I had sent a package (that I packed myself) through this location for a move. Apparently the box was destroyed during shipment and was being returned to the store. I called the store letting them know I no longer lived in Washington and wouldn't be there to accept and resend the package. A few days later I found out they had carefully rewrapped and repackaged all my items and sent them to my new address. The staff here are so friendly and I'm so grateful for how courteous they were in handling the situation. read more

I came into this UPS store excited to get notarized the final documents I needed to change both my name and my sex on my birth certificate. It is the absolute last thing I need to get changed after transitioning for over 10 years, having just completed the bottom surgery last year. I walked into the empty store, paperwork in hand, and had the immense displeasure of working with Jim. I told him I needed a couple of documents notarized and he pretty much immediately seemed upset about it. It felt like he was annoyed or mad at me for asking for a simple service they provide at this store. Fine. Maybe he was just having an off day. I can understand that. So we went to the table area to take a look at the paperwork. There is one box on the form that I was not sure about. The box says "Registrant's Full Name at Birth," which seems easy enough to understand, but the instructions at the top of the form described that field as the name "as it SHOULD APPEAR" on the birth certificate. I told him it was confusing to me because it seemed to contradict itself. Before I could finish, he said very shortly, "no its actually not confusing." He then began one of the most condescending explanations I've ever received in this type of service environment, again after telling me that it was not actually confusing to me, which of course was news to me. Guess I just needed the right white guy to come along and set my simple female mind straight. He told me then that he could not give legal advice, and then proceeded to give me legal advice saying that I should get a lawyer to help me fill out the form so I get it right and that he thinks, but he's not sure but this is absolutely certain that I need to get both my parents to sign off on this (I'm 31 and my dad is in a federal prison, both of which I explained). He went on to tell me that "there is a difference between sex and gender and you can change your gender but not your sex I think. Pretty sure thats how it is." Jim spoke to me like I was a 5 year old and seemed to think that I just randomly printed off some forms from the internet and filled them out and that I was trying to trick him into notarizing a form saying I could change my sex when it was illegal to do so (all of which is obviously false). He then looked at the paperwork and said dismissively, "yeah I'm not gonna sign this," then started WALKING AWAY before I could even say anything in response. The whole time I was mostly silent because I was shocked by how he was treating me for no reason other than I asked him to do something the company offers and didn't understand a form from the FL government. I think I made some offhanded attempt to correct him saying that you can in fact change your sex and I had done so and was now legally getting the marking changed on my birth certificate, all of which is completely legal in the state of Florida. When I got to the car I was practically shaking and had no idea what to do. I ended up driving home and crying in the parking lot. I don't typically feel comfortable saying bad things about people, but Jim you are a complete asshole. I went home and read some reviews and was happy I wasn't the only one being treated like a child being lectured after getting caught doing something wrong. I wasn't trying to cheat you or trick you into anything dude, I obviously knew what I was doing as was evident by all the notarized forms from the court and my surgeon. I guess the positive thing that came from this, and what he should have said instead of "I'm not signing this," is that since I was over the age of 18 I did not need a parent or guardian to notarize the form - just my own signature. Seriously go anywhere else but here. This is like the Jack in the Box of shipping stores. These folks always help me. But last weekend in particular they were absolutely professional and total sweethearts. Last Saturday I walked in at 20 till close with 7 boxes. No one sighed or was otherwise rude. They helped me till the very last box--plus the four statues that they had to pack themselves. Then my credit card got declined. And Jim was so kind. He waited until a friend could come bail me out--well over half an hour past close. I am indebted to these folks. I recommend them strongly. And also I only use ups and not fedex because ups has a union and fedex doesn't. read more

I won't be using UPS again, and do not pay for expedited shipping. I needed to mail medications to a friend quickly, so I paid for fast shipping, overnight. It was three days late. The tracking was confusing and inaccurate. At one point, we were told there was some sort of an emergency, and they couldn't unload the truck, for two days in a row. This is a logistics company. What sort of emergency were they so unprepared for, that's not in the news? This was not a location caught in riots or the like. The lack of transparency makes it hard to understand or accept this. The shipping took as long or longer than USPS ground. I could have paid around a 10th of the price--and I would have gotten better service, in terms of tracking. The people in the store were as helpful as they could be, and they were frustrated with the situation and tried to help, but it's clear they are under-informed and have almost no power to do anything, even refund costs. I should not have been let to pay for service they not only couldn't guarantee, but they could simply not provide. read more

This particular UPS location is a bit bigger than the ones just north and west of it. They seem to have their act a bit more together, too. They generally charge what the website estimates. In some cases where printing charges went wacky, they fixed it without argument. The staff can be a bit gruff or laconic, but they've always been kind and fair. read more

I have had a mailbox at this store for several years and have had to bite my tongue on several occasions due to the RUDE, UNHELPFUL and DOWNRIGHT MEAN manager, Jim. He is completely arrogant and absolutely rude to his employees in front of customers. If I owned this company, I would take serious heed to the reviews given and the behavior that Jim displays in your store. He has an utter lack of respect for anyone that crosses his path... customers and employees alike. I have never had an incident with him personally, but have been the witness to many involving Jim and any time I see him in the store, I try to stay as far away as possible. The other employees, ponytail guy, the guy with the glasses and dreadlocks and the other tall white guy in his 20s are all extremely accommodating and insane to be working under that man. But in the end, I am thankful for those three other employees so I don't have to deal with Jim solely. As far as receiving mail here and getting packages, I have never had an issue.
