I live only 3 minutes away and have eaten an embarrassingly large amount of urban cupcakes in the past 2 months. My favorites: 1. Strawberry Cheesecake 2. Pumpkin spice 3. Anything with a chocolate base I wasn't a huge fan of the red velvet, raspberry pearl, or the caramel macchiato. I haven't tried any of the seasonal flavors but autumn. My favorite year-round one had got to be the strawberry cheesecake. And I'm mainly a chocolate fan. One issue: the icing is wayyy too sweet. I scraped about half of it off. By the way, Urban Cup has four flavors that are gluten free (cookies and creme, classic vanilla, raspberry pearl, and double chocolate). They even have one gluten-free dairy-free option, which is classic vanilla. read more

10/10 - the best cupcakes I've ever had! In January and July I stock up on the Elvis and freeze them so I can enjoy throughout the year. They're that good. The plain birthday and banana split are also at the top of my list. Honestly, I've never had a flavor I didn't like. I order them for special events and birthdays. This is a place I find myself coming back to time and time again. I special ordered the mini Valentine's Day cakes earlier this year and today I picked up my special ordered Christmas cookies. I dropped off a dozen to my mother's office and the doctors and nurses LOVED them. I took a dozen to the EMS crews at work and they were loved just as much. Very friendly staff every time we stop by. So many good flavors it is hard to choose favorites but the Italian with coconut cream is to die for. We also loved the caramel macchiato (nice balance of flavor to avoid teetering into too sweet) .... And the classic vanilla and chocolate cookies n cream were home runs. read more

Wish I would have been aware of the almond extract flavor in the icing. Got the cookies and cream as well as the mint chocolate and was baffled why all I could taste was almond. The cake itself was moist, they have a cute shop, and very pretty cupcakes. The extract is what made it unenjoyable for me, as mint and almond don't exactly go great together. read more

It was really difficult to find this place as it is kind of tucked back off the main road. My Google Maps program started directing me to do multiple u-turns, so clearly we were lost. On a Monday they close at 3:00, and we were rapidly approaching that deadline on our last day in town before heading back to Arizona. Panic besieged our merry band as we realized we might not make it in time, and it was going to be only moments before we turned on each other. We were quickly approaching critical mass and a reenactment of The Lord of the Flies appeared imminent when we miraculously arrived at our destination with mere minutes to spare. Stopped in on the search for some macarons, google stated that Urban Cup sold them. I don't know if he was the owner or manager but he came over to assist the front counter. The staff was a bit shocked that we came in for macarons. And stated that they used to sell them, but stopped after cupcakes did better. I found it extra sweet of them to give us free cupcakes due to the fact that they did not sell the macarons that we were looking for. So that being said HUGE THANKS URBAN CUP!! I had the mint chocolate chip, this was so good! Normally I stray away from cupcakes because the frosting is usually too sweet. Cupcakes are good, but like many businesses in Springfield; they seemed very pushy. As a local, not being too far, I know of the business well. When in my uniform they're very welcoming. Today I decided to skate to get a session in and a treat for the family. With no one but one other group to serve. I felt rushed when asking the box sizes, and picking out my cupcakes. I was then eagerly checked out and sent on my way. I felt this might be an appearance thing, and slight racial problem. As a big fan of the former Cup and Urban Cup downtown, I was so disappointed when they closed. It was great to see updates on the business facebook page that they reopened July 2018 in a different location. I am writing just a couple of weeks after their reopening. The current location is in more of an industrial/residential area on Grand just east of Glenstone. You may think you have the wrong directions, but never fear, it's in a building with a few other businesses and it's still the same glorious cupcakes you have always loved. My husband and I split a Summer Dream and a Chocoholic and instantly agreed that yes, these are as good as ever (maybe better)! Affordable prices and *superb* quality like always. To me, the strength of The Urban Cup is how every component (cake, filling, frosting) is high quality. This makes it the absolute best because most other cupcake shops will skimp on at least one thing (i.e., dried out boxed cake mix topped with fancy good frosting). Not here! That keeps us coming back. One disclaimer: things are different here than in the larger downtown storefront. It seems they have a spacious kitchen for bulk orders (?) but there's not an eat-in area so plan to take your cupcakes to go. This was fine with us, but I felt it's worth mentioning in my opinion since we're from out of town and typically ate them in-store. read more
