Many companies failed in this respect. After checking reviews, I decided upon J&M Appliance. No, they don't have a fancy website. No, they don't have a fleet of vehicles. Yes, they got the results I needed within 30 minutes and also arrived on time (calling before they came). Of note, while they are extremely friendly in person, I can definitely see how they may come across "abrupt" on the phone. This was especially the case as they answered an incoming call requesting service while working on my dryer (so don't expect a secretary to answer), and I could see they were just looking to find out the location and contact info of the caller (to schedule a time to come out) so they could return to the task at hand. Their prices were fair (initial show up fee + 30 min. incremental billing + parts needed), and they took the time to explain what was broken and what needed fixing before they installed it. I'd highly recommend them to friends and family, but like I said, don't be shocked by the phone conversation if they don't come across as "excited to answer your call," they're probably working away and wanted to make sure you reached a live person instead of a machine. (and No, it didn't delay them in getting the job done quickly :P )

I asked him to come back 30 min after he left, to look at my washer machine - he was going to charge me the same amount for a 15 min job. It took 15 min for him to fix my drier and that's counting the arrival time. To pay another $170 on the same day, AFTER I told him my washer needed to be looked at when he was here is ridiculous. When I told him something was wrong with my washer machine, he told me to continue using it if the clothes were coming out clean. Cost $60 for service plus $110 to repair plus parts. When I got a little irritated with him he told me he wished he had charged me more money plus he told me I didn't know what it took for a repairmen to come out to do the work. Not the first time I had something repaired in my house. I gave 2 stars because my drier now works.

I went to Amre Supply in Edmonton purchased the part for $130.00. I had a friend who had no previous knowledge of washing machines watch a five minute Youtube video and was able to change the part in under twenty minutes. Was not impressed whatsoever with this place and would not recommend to anyone!!!!!

He had absolutely no clue of how to even open the top of the range. In the end, decided it could be any of 3 various parts including an $800 motherboard and approximately $450 of labour. Here's the catch, we would also have to pay 20% to restock the parts if they didn't end up working. And he needed to charge us $150 for a 'key' to open the range. Supposedly a Thermador repair person? I think not. I told him to go and paid $84 for the 'service call'. Emailed the company to complain about the lack of knowledge and didn't even get a response. In the end, had a real Thermador repair company (whose technician was an absolute professional) come in. It was the motherboard and it cost $600 for the part and $200 for the labour. $1,400 vs $800 for the same job!! They preordered the parts and fixed it same day. No restocking fees due to lack of expertise. They also fixed the reassembly of the stove top that had been incorrectly done by the Paramount technician and could have damaged the burners as they were far over tightened. Very disappointing. If you don't have expertise, you should point the customer in the right direction rather than attempt to take advantage of the situation.

He promptly identified the pump that failed in my washer and had a replacement in his vehicle. Took him a few minutes and the deed was done! He left me the parts to verify the work (thank you!) I called using the Yelp page, which I think is the easiest way to contact them. I believe their number is incorrect if you simply google them. However, it is correct here! The woman I spoke with on the phone was personable and ensured we had our appointment made. We had John come in to fix our Dishwasher and Oven. He did an awesome job and everything was fixed in no time. I'm very glad that everything was sorted out all in one night. I was super worried that it would be something unfixable. He claimed he fixed my dryer. He didn't. After it broke again, they suddenly decided it needed replacing. Then came the complete lack of communication -- over a week went by with no update until I had to chase them down. Scheduling was a joke. They refused to work around normal 9-5 jobs, then promised a weekend delivery before noon. Shockingly, they didn't show up on time. I had to call them at 11:40am just to remind them, only to be told to reschedule. They then promised to call Monday. They didn't. I had to call again Tuesday. Three weeks later, still no working dryer and nothing but broken promises, rude service, and zero accountability. If you enjoy being talked down to, ignored, and chasing a company to do the bare minimum, this is the place for you. Otherwise, stay far away.
