To our delight, we found their "egg store" is actually their converted garage. Bottom line, expect nothing fancy for their store, but this is a little gem regardless. If you can not make it during regular business hours, fear not! On the front porch is a smart vending machine where you can buy their products even during off hours. You pay by scanning your phone/credit card to make a purchase. The vending machine contains jars of their unfiltered honey, their eggs (sold by the dozen), specialty lotions and soaps, and other products from small, local businesses. Their eggs are super fresh, huge, and come in varying colors, light beige to deep brown. The yolks are deeply colored and rich in minerals. These are obviously very happy, well fed chickens. While the eggs are more expensive than store-bought, you can expect his to be super fresh. He explained that, typically, store-bought eggs are several weeks old before you can buy them. His are a day-old. On Wednesdays (and sometimes Sundays) they sell locally-made sourdough bread loaves, until they run out. Their business card says they also carry other baked goods, but we did not see any on our visit. We returned on Wednesday and came home with a perfect loaf of sourdough bread... wonderful! The front garden is a welcoming, mini paradise, set up with chairs/benches, and filled with pretty flowers, an above-ground vegetable garden, and lush landscaping. They invite their visitors, young and old, to come and stay awhile. Children are challenged to a game where tiny play figures are hidden in the garden to find. It's an adventure for the whole family. This is a chicken farm. The ladies are housed in the back. We are looking forward to a "chicken tour" soon with the grandkids. The honey he sells is from his own bee hives in Temecula, Fallbrook and two other cities I have already forgotten. While I forgot to ask his name, he is a delightful, dedicated owner. His proudly Portuguese grandmother was there helping out, and a real jewel. It is a pleasure supporting a small business, run by good, earnest people like these.
