The further you travel from Toronto, the less vegan/vegetarian options there are. Searching for a healthy place to eat, I had stumbled upon The Vegan Pantry. This is a cafe that has delicious looking treats, but they also sell food. The food in pre-made and can be picked up. I tried the Classic Cauliflower wings and a pizza (not sure of the type, but it had jalapeños, vegan sausage, and vegan cheese). The owner was very kind. She instructed us on how to warm/ heat the food the best way. Following her instructions the food came out perfectly crispy and delicious. I have eaten at vegan restaurants in the city, however this trumps them all. The flavours were spot on and It tasted like actual chicken wings. The pizza came vacuum sealed, and when cooked was as good as a freshly rolled pie. If you want to eat at the place, there is a small table available and the food is warmed there. There are daily deals at the Vegan Pantry that are posted on FB and IG. I am excited to have found such a wonderful establishment and hope that other visit to discover this gem.

Update: Tried the cauliflower wings and buffalo crusted brussel sprouts since they had them on special to buy 2, get 1 free. How can you go wrong?! I opted to heat them up in my air fryer which worked out perfectly. They tasted great! Would definitely recommend heating them this way since it'll add a good crisp to the outside. All and all, very impressed! Finally stopped by after itching for a few good gluten free chocolate treats. Was warmly greeted and helped. The customer service was great! I asked about popular items and what to try since it was my first visit. They had donuts made that morning, sooo I was curious what the donut would taste like since I've had other gluten free donuts that weren't really donut worthy in my opinion. It was really tasty. Definitely a cake style donut, smoist even days later. What I really enjoyed about everything was having a quarter or half was sufficient as a treat. The portions for baked items is generous. I ended up going for a classic chocolate chip cookie, peanut butter Nanaimo bar and chocolate chip banana muffin. All were fresh. The cookie was soft and chewy and not too sweet (always nice). The bar was on the sweeter side, so it was cut up into smaller pieces. I found a small square was tasty and more than enough. The muffin was my fav! Flavourful and reminded me a good banana bread with chocolate chips added. I would definitely get one again. All n all, would recommend stopping by. They offer a lot of savoury options too which I'm hoping to try next visit. Worth stopping by whether you're picking up a few items or want to dine in. There's now a sitting area and they have daily lunch and dinner specials - check their website. :)

    Pure deliciousness :)

Being a fan of the Bakes by the Lake lunch and treats, I was excited to see they had expanded and were offering more options to the gluten free and vegan community. The tea room is beautifully and elegantly decorated. From the light fixtures to the cutlery, it shows they have put much thought and energy into the vision they have for the space. I was definitely impressed! The menu offers a little bit of everything. My boyfriend, who isn't gluten free tried a gluten free beer and really enjoyed it. We were there around lunch so we opted for sandwiches. Not having to ask if something could be removed or was gluten free was so nice. We swapped half's of sandwiches and loved both. My boyfriend had no idea it was vegan cheese until I told him after he ate his half. He said he would order it again. The Gourmet Grilled Cheese had the upper hand with the black truffle dip that came with it - sooo good. How can you go wrong with black truffle anything?! :) All and all, was a terrific dining experience. We will be back for sure! They offer live music, brunch, lunch and dinner and also have a very nice patio. The customer service was spot on too. Being family run was really nice to see too. Can't wait to see how great this place does!

"Goodness Me" is a health food store with extras available, including fresh baked goods, and a service counter and salad bar. They provide several fresh dishes on a salad bar, and a counter where they have about 10-12 hot dishes that you can choose from. The food is fast, and the staff is helpful and friendly. The pricing is good. My experience has been that it is best to go earlier in the day when the food is fresh. Like any other buffet type "restaurant" the food tends to get pretty thick if it has been sitting around for a while. There are lots of good options for people looking for gluten free options, but the potential for cross contamination is there if you are very sensitive.l to gluten. They also had 3 fresh soups available and regularly have chilli. The pricing is much better to offerings such as Nature's emporium. I found the price to be at least 25% less. They also have a pretty hefty discount at the end of the day on food if you are so inclined. I did it once, the price was fantastic, but the butter fish was like glue. ;) Overall, a good place to have a healthy and quick easy bite.

If you enjoy pickles, garlic and dill, you have to give this pizza a try! I'll be ordering this one again for sure! The gluten free crust option was great... thin and crispy. All and all very impressed. Since it was pizza night, that meant BOGO! Sooo I opted for a Hawaiian which was so delicious, the coconut bacon added a smoky flavour as did the bbq sauce. Huge chunks of pineapple too! The cheese used on both didn't have that odd flavour or way of melting some vegan cheeses have. I was even able to eat left overs cold and it tasted just as good as it did out of the box. I also tried the on tap kombucha which hit the spot. Not overly sweet which I really liked. Will I be back? Definitely! There's so many more items on the menu to try! Whether your vegan or not, I highly recommend stopping by or ordering in. Not only are you supporting a local business, you'll be doing so while enjoying some delicious food and/or treats! :)

It didn't look anything like the photos they have online. Also, even though there weren't that many people there when it opened, and I was one of the first to order, it took 25 minutes for my take out to be ready (was told it would be 10-12 minutes). Would definitely try something else on the menu but I wouldn't have these again.
