The Veranda at Thornton Park turned out to be the perfect venue for us in more ways that one. If you're looking for a venue with cute houses to stay in on site, freedom to create your dream event, and amazing people to work with, then this is your venue. Between our close friends and family we stayed in all three of the houses available. The orange house is great to sleep 6 people if everyone is ok with sharing a bed. That was our main hangout house for the weekend and had everything we needed. The blue house was perfect for my mom to stay in; small but perfectly tucked away and had a great view. If you you're having your wedding here, I highly recommend having private appetizers on the gorgeous deck overlooking the lovely town. My husband and I did this right after our ceremony and I cannot recommend it enough! On our wedding night, my husband and I stayed in the pink house which was my favorite house. It was the perfect little cottage to escape from our family for the night. The Vernada has some amazing vendor recommendations for everything you might need for your event but also allows you to bring in your own vendors if you choose. The freedom to do so made planning our wedding more fun. Although I agree with the venue that DJ Ben Bravo is the best! Felicia, who owns and runs the Veranda made the whole weekend a magical event. Her laid back attitude and fun nature made planning and executing our wedding fun and easy. I swear Felicia's chill and calm demeanor that can calm any bridezilla (yes I'm referring to myself). Not only is she good at her job, she's a great person to know. After this wedding I know that we have made new friends for life. I cannot wait to have our anniversary parties here for all the years to come. Thank you so much Felicia and the Vernada team for making our wedding so perfect.

One of the most unique venues in the area. Beautiful homes and amazing staff. They had many different events.

We just had our wedding at The Veranda on 11/16. We originally booked 1010 West as our venue, but over the summer we were notified that they were condemned. We, of course, freaked out. In reaching out to Facebook, I learned of a couple of venues offering specials for couples affected by this situation, and The Veranda was one of them. I can't tell you how stressful it was learning that our venue would probably not be open for the date we booked, but that little bit of money saved helped ease the blow of two deposits. From our first contact, Gerald was amazing! He made the process so easy and fun. He even indulged our dream of having a petting zoo at our wedding. He was beyond helpful the entire time and so quick to respond! He was just so delightful and felt like a friend from the very beginning. I firmly believe everything happens for a reason, and, in hindsight, I'm so happy that 1010 West had issues or else we wouldn't have found The Veranda and Gerald! We had a perfect wedding and the planning process was painless with them!

We usually bring our own board games and just enjoy hanging out with friends. We love the bar and the pizza. We've been coming here for a little over a year now and always have a great experience. The movie nights are also such a fun touch and make it a really relaxed, chill space. The only small suggestion would be possibly extending the menu in the future, but honestly, no complaints at all, we love this place.

I advise going before March while it's still nice during the day and into the evening. There are a few dining and beverage options - no outside food/drink permitted. While l am not an outdoors person, I appreciate the concept. I'd consider returning for their movie on the lawn offerings and as an additional place to gather with family and friends. I took off a star for unclear parking and large holes in the primary access lane/road. Additional signage would be ideal for parking. Arrive with enough time to park inside the designated areas. I've had the pleasure of attending a yoga event as well as a salsa event at The Balcony and both times I left wanting to figure out an event to host at this beautiful site. Though getting in to the building and up to the right floor is a bit of a process, the view that awaits is worth every head scratch. This is truly a Balcony, but much larger than you'd imagine. They've used the space for cocktail parties, seated dinners, weddings, fitness events, and I imagine a photo shoot or two. The space is available for rent, and I've made a point to take a tour (which you can schedule any time) to check it out when they didn't have an active event happening. The indoor space you'd walk thru for The Balcony is actually a marketing agency. I haven't been in several months, but it doesn't seem to provide a lot of weather backup space, so one thing to note. Then again, this place is so unique, you'll be convinced to cross your fingers and pray for clear skies!

4 Stars for location, location, location!…read more Eola House is a historic 1924 house-turned-rental space owned by the city, right by Lake Eola. It may seem like an odd sight in the middle of the park, but in fact it used to exist in a line of historic homes that were taken down for the park expansion. Now it sits alone, right off of the walking path surrounding the Lake. The home is lovely and features a sunroom, living room, parlor, outdoor terrace, upstairs area with a balcony, bridal changing room, and more. Recently I went for a lunch meeting in their upstairs space, the Summerlin Room ($75/hr rental with a 2 hr min). It was a lovely spot and fit our group of fifteen perfectly. I'll admit that I had been to the house once before to help with another event and the room wasn't set to the specifications agreed upon so we had to move and reset the chairs and tables right before the meeting. I remember the event organizer was quite annoyed... Hopefully it was a fluke! Side note- There is no elevator and the stairs are quite narrow. This is worth mentioning in case your event includes someone with mobility issues or who uses a wheelchair. As I was heading out I stopped in a room by the front and appreciated the array of pamphlets set up- ranging from history of the house to an Orlando biking map. There were also tourist pamphlets with the typical attractions (presumably for out of town guests of weddings of meetings). Overall, this is a beautiful meeting/event space that is priced reasonably and located in the heart of the city.

In addition the house has a welcome center and park offices. On the day I visited the house was closed and I could only peak through the windows. This looks like a fabulous venue for weddings and outdoor parties on the lawn.

To come, you have to reserve a spot (1-2hours) so this alleviates overcrowding. During summer, the morning time until 10:30am is for 3 year olds and younger only. During the rest of the year, it is open to the other ages. Apparently, this was not communicated clearly so some of my other mom friends with kids older than 3 were turned away upon arrival. It's beautiful inside. The colors, aesthetic, layout. The play area is gated off. Everything is baby proofed. Two story play area with climbing, ball pit, low stimulation touch screen game, mini trampolines, and more. There's a small area specifically for infants. I climbed around the entire structure as well. There's at least one worker supervising and cleaning the play area. The cafe is outside of the play area, but very close where you can supervise your child. There are also 4 cameras so you can see your child even if they're inside of or behind a structure. There are 2 large companion restrooms with diaper pails, stairs for toddlers to reach the sink, & most everything is touch free. I really appreciated how clean everything was. We will definitely be back!

It's a great way for the little ones to explore and expend some energy while meeting & playing with other kiddos. Terra Play Center is located in Lake Nona, and while it's quite a drive from me, this is by far my favorite play center so far! You do need to book a reservation online in advance because the time slots do sell out everyday, and they do not accept walk-ins if they are at capacity. I love that you can book 2 hours for $20 which is a great deal and the perfect amount of play time. Entry includes up to 3 caregiver passes at no extra charge. Adults are required to wear socks at all times and kids must wear the grippy Terra Play Socks ($3.99). Once you purchase them the first time, you can continue to wear them for future visits. Upon walking in, I was amazed by the sheer size of the play area and it's beautiful unique design. My son was just in awe. They have so many little nooks to explore, including a dedicated area for crawlers which we really appreciated during our first visit as my son was not quite walking yet. It was also not overly crowded which was a relief. He loved the climbing blocks, swing, ball pits, and trampolines. I was most impressed by how clean and well maintained the facility was. You will see staff continuously cleaning and wiping down surfaces the entire time that you are there. I even watched them remove every single ball from the ball pit in between play sessions to wash & sanitize. I know that germs can be a big concern for many parents when it comes to these play places, but seeing this definitely gave me peace of mind. They also have a stunning cafe area to order coffee & snacks, as well as seating to either relax or get some work done (where you can still keep an eye on your kiddos while they play). I highly recommend this spot and we will definitely be back!
