By the time I reached, they were already closed but I told the lady I m a student & really need to see it for my class. She said they just closed & for me she made an exception & let me in. And let me tell you how amazed I was ! This house was built at 1960s, so one of the oldest house in NYC. Who knew‍And it belongs to a lady photographer. I knew then why my teacher wanted me to come visit this place ! I got to visit this in fall & it was so worth it . Everything about it was just beautiful. And the view of the peer was beautiful too. Still didn't t able to catch a sunset yet, it should be incredible! Including some pictures I took which will help u to come visit this place . Trust me u will not regret it

And, if you get there early enough, legend has it they may even have beer and/or wine available. We saw the remnants and it wasn't even 7:30pm when we arrived. Luckily, the kindly gentleman at the door let us bring in our PBRs from a neighboring gallery. Classy. Hot tip: don't miss the upstairs area. It's small but it's a good one.

I got confused saw the C24 gallery button pressed it which is their offices or something. I came for the Robert Montgomery exhibit which I am a HUGE FAN of his work and got to see a small solo show in Paris in May and a few installations in Berlin in June, now to see his solo show in NYC which is a nice one was amazing. If you are a fan of street art and poetry then Check out Roberts show before it comes down in October 2013.

Knowing the name, but not too familiar with his art, I was curious about the Paul Klee exhibit at…read morethe Jewish Museum. So I popped in last Saturday. It's a two-fold reason why the museum charges no admission every Saturday: 1) their intent is to make exhibits accessible to everyone, and 2) this aligns with the principle of no exchange of money on Shabbat. As such, the gift shop and basement cafe are both closed then. A juxtaposition of exhibits, Joan Semmel's work with themes of body and intimacy, is on the ground floor. Interesting! As well as other exhibits that I hadn't previously seen. I was unexpectedly there for a couple of hours. I was pleased to see people of different heritages enjoying the museum. It's a worthwhile visit, and now that it's warming up you might want to stroll through Central Park across the street, afterwards.

The exhibit was well arranged and focused on the political side of his work -- I had not previously understood that he was one of the targets of the Nazi campaign against degenerate art, and many of his works beginning in the early 1930.s first in Germany and then in exile in Switzerland. was devoted to indirect or very direct criticisms of Nazi ideology. we also enjoyed the extensive display of menorahs. It was overall just a beautiful, interesting exhibit with lots of beautiful cultures and ideas. A very good experience and it is pay what you can for New York residence and free on the culture pass!

It takes a good 4 hours to get through every wing and every floor. Order your tickets on your phone and you can just skip right to wherever you want to start. They do start closing down some of the other bathrooms towards the end of the day, I recommend either going around 430 on the days they close at 5 or to the bathroom in the lower level cause the line gets long.

Local gem and creative events…read more Visited with some family going to see some of the local history. Staff were super welcoming and I was blown away by the photos of the Inwood/Washington Heights before the subway was introduced uptown. The vast swath of farm land and this farmhouse is one place to see how it looks in that bucolic time period. The backyard had a hessian hut of what the military groups used during the historical time period. It is fascinating to think about so much history that took place across the last four centuries in Manhattan and previous to the European arrivals. Thank you for having a local spot for people to learn about history. Great value.

The Farmhouse was closed but it was still worth visiting and mulling over how they farmed on all that rocky terrain.

Barry McGee is an artist that has skater/surf roots that are visible in his work. When I stumbled a…read morepost regarding a solo show, there was no way I was going to miss it. Cheim and Reade is new to me but I instantly liked the set up of the space. It is on the edge of 25th street in Chelsea. And there is a simple sign baring the name of the gallery. When walking in there's a small reception desk and a shelf with art books. Then a small room with a cool lay out of some McGee's more sculpture work. I loved his use of found objects, color and especially texture. In the larger room there was a tiny built side room that appeared like a small town shop. When you enter the room it's reminiscent of a teenage boy's club house. A variety of art is on the wall and there's a shelf of knick knacks. Is this the room that represents the brain of the artist? That's the beauty about art, a lot of it is interpretation. There was a back room where the giant stack of surfboards leaves you in awe. It appears as a giant stair case. Absolutely stunning. The show is up until February 17th and is worth the trip to the crevices of Chelsea. To get an intro to McGee's work I recommend watching the documentary "Beautiful Losers".
