But Mark started towards retirement and brought in his son, John, a great guy, but not the barber his dad was. As Mark completely retired, they've had barbers of various skill levels cycle through. After Covid, everything became by appointment and often times that didn't work with my schedule. By chance, I tried another barber shop in another locale and got a very good haircut and began frequenting them. Last week, I happened to need a haircut and was in Gig Harbor and tried for a walk-in. I was able to get an appointment that worked and came back at the time. A lady barber cut my hair and I just asked to clean it up a little and just off the ears. When I was done, she showed me the results- I was basically given almost an Army recruit haircut. In 50 years, my hair hadn't been that short. When she asked "How's that?" What the hell are you supposed to say? The damage was done and nothing left to do but let it grow out and never go back there. Even my wife and daughter remarked what a terrible haircut it was.. Mark, I had many a great haircut at your place, but the high review of your shop is probably a lot of inertia from days gone by. Adios, amigo.

She came in asking for a blonde hair service and a haircut. What Ashley did to her hair is one of the worst things I have ever seen done to a person in a salon. Kendall had thick, beautiful, waist-length hair that she had spent years growing. She walked out with her hair so aggressively and unevenly thinned that you can see light through it in sections. The ends are wispy and choppy throughout. None of this was discussed, agreed to, or consented to. Ashley made the decision on her own to take thinning shears to hair that had absolutely no business being thinned like this. And the color? Her hair does not look noticeably blonder than when she walked in. We paid $325 for a blonde hair service that delivered no visible result. We also left a $60 tip -- $385 total -- for a service that has left my wife in tears. Kendall is 30 years old. We are looking at a minimum of 2 to 5 years for her hair to recover to where it was before she walked through your door. That is not an inconvenience. That is years of her life. She has cried every single day since this appointment. She does not recognize herself. She is devastated. The before photos in this review were taken three days before her appointment. Look at them. Then look at the after. The difference is inexcusable. We have contacted the salon requesting a full refund. We will be taking Kendall's hair to another salon for corrective work at significant additional cost to us. So far we have not heard back, despite the email being marked as read. If you have thick, long, healthy hair -- do not bring it here. We learned that the hard way.

I planned to make an appointment for Black Cat today when I found out Nori's was in their place. Nori's is just as good or better quality fade men's style haircut. Nori's came in at $10 cheaper for the same cut as I would get at Black Cat. Nori's didn't require an appointment to get my hair cut. I walked in and got it done. The place that was here before was good and this place just took that business model and improved upon it. Easy 5 stars. If you're a man in gig harbor / port orchard / key peninsula areas you'll be hard pressed to find a barber that can compete with Nori's without charging an arm and a leg or booking you out weeks in advance.
